  1. Couldn't sleep so I went to the bench this morning and was able to get the one piece floorboard / firewall done. Made a paper template first and then made it from printing plate. Also cut the molded in kit's original seat out of the frame, added a back and bottom piece and raised it just a touch. Moved it a bit forward so the driver's head isn't right under the roll bar as it was originally. I'll get some gauges made along with a steering wheel shaft next. Had to put in an order to RB Motion for some rod ends. Here's a couple of pics. Stay tuned.
  2. I hate it that I can't edit my post before submitting it if it has photo links in it. Please, can we get this fixed?!?
  3. Thanks alot fellas. Appreciate your comments.
  4. That should cover the build of this fun project.
  5. Stay tuned.
  6. More to follow.
  7. More to follow.
  8. I've moved a few folders around on my PhotoBucket account and it messed up all of the links in the thread. I'm posting some build pictures here since I had a request for them. More to follow.
  9. Thanks Randy. I'm having alot of fun with it.
  10. This almost to much to take in for a guy who has a Dremel Stylus as his only powered tool. My hats off to all of you guys. Incredible work Paul.
  11. Thanks Joe. I'll check them out. Have to figure out their sizes according to Chris' charts.
  12. I painted the frame semi-gloss black and am now figuring out the radius rods. I plan on using stainless steel tubing but I'm all out of the small nuts and bolts from Scale Hardware and they closed down. I haven't found another source for those tiny things. I'll get some pictures up once I get the radius rods done.
  13. YEA!! Art's back on the sprinter. Looks like a bit of progress is being made.
  14. I envy your soldering skills, well, every one of your other skills too. Looks great Tim.
  15. Your intake looks great James.
  16. Sending the few minions that I have Chris since I'm working in 1/35th scale at the moment. I can handle this scale by myself.
  17. Thanks Mike. I think I just got lucky. If I didn't have that on my mind, it would have never occurred to me.
  18. A bit of an update. For some time I have been trying to figure out a way to have an LED light inside the camper so there would be a bit of a glow through the window and open door. Crazy enough, I found a place selling LED earrings online and ordered a set. Now hold on, I'm not that kind of guy, but these earrings sure worked out well. They are powered by really tiny watch batteries so I can replace them when needed and I also have a back up. They had a fake diamond which I removed and then I cut away 3 of the 6 prongs that held it in. Then I cut a piece of clear plastic from a clam shell package and crested a domed top with a hook out of brass. It still needs some weathering but I couldn't wait to share this with you guys. I have a hook inside for the light as well as one outside the door. I'll get it weathered up a bit and take a couple more shots with it in place. I'm stoked.
  19. What a great improvement over the kit tank. I think a full tank might be a bit heavy for the light bar in real life. On your kit, you can do anything you like. :-)
  20. Oh, I forgot to mention. The front inside wheel needs repainted. Carry on.
  21. Keep the conversations coming, I love all of the discussions from this old Monogram series. I've had quite a bit of concentrated bench time and have gotten alot accomplished. I got the front axle completed and cleaned up the original kit transverse spring, probably the only kit item I've used to date. Engine pulley were trimmed from the blower belt, which was all one piece. Made a new belt from four layers of blue painter's tape, I'll have to rethink that because it started to unlayer when I wrapped it around the pulleys. One layer just wouldn't be thick enough so I'll need to find something else. I temporarily plumbed in the fuel line to the injector fuel block. Still deciding if I want to plumb the four injectors. Time will tell. Also thrown in a mock up just for grins. Onto the pics. Thanks for your interest.
  22. This is too much. You and Dave must live in an alternate universe out there in PA and only enter our reality just to down load pictures and write commentary. Then you go back. Ok, now where do you source your telescoping stainless steel tubing?
  23. If you read the first post in this thread, I mentioned I found a seller on Ebay who was offering a resin copy of this engine still on the sprues. That's the one I used. I made my own Hilborn influenced scoop out of slightly-flattened aluminum tubing and some sculpted Evergreen for the rear. All I was able to use parts-wise of the gluebomb was the wheels and tires, maybe a few other small things but the glue was the old tube stuff that melted the original kit parts. The kit plastic will break before the glue joint will. I'm glad i got the box too as I really like the artwork on it. Its an original issue box.
