That really looks great Dave. I'd be proud to display this one. Like Paul said, the green just looks so right on this body. Will we be seeing this on the table this Saturday?
Received my package from WildHare.com which had my PE aircraft seats. Got the one all put together and soldered. The tip to my soldering iron broke so I held off putting the base on the second one. I was planning on making some of these from printing plate but thought I'd try these.
These will get painted a light Metallizer once they're put together. May need to remove the bottom rear legs because that will allow me to move the seats back further.
Some of the later pictures in this thread are not showing because PhotoBucket seems to have lost them. They're not in my 'bucket.' I've added them back in but of course the link is different and this forum won't let me edit my older posts that have photo links in them. I'll post a few of them back here in the thread but the comments won't accompany the pics this time. Dang PhotoBucket.
Was able to get the chute put together along with a printing plate base. Worked on the chute pull cord hole this morning. Took a quick picture with my phone on the way out the door this morning so the pic isn't that good.
DSC is Saturday and still a few items to button up. I'm confident I can get these done in time.
Have been working on the parachute. Went to a fabric remnant store and picked up a piece. Made a plastic shape, have been covering it with fabric and folding over the material for the outside. Still working out where the lines will be mounted.
Great oogly googly moogly!! Swoopy tie rods indeed. Those are some seriously sweet tie rods. I can't imagine the patience that took. Also looks like they may be relatively close to the ground depending on your tire height unless the jig you have the axle posed with shows actual ride height.
Yeah, I never claimed to be a math major. Got all of the aluminum sheeting on the underside of the chassis. Still a bit to do yet but getting closer.
Gotta get a parachute or at least the pulled chute remains.
Ha!! Bet you thought I forgot about this one. Thanks for all of the comments fellas. They're much appreciated.
Pulled this one down off the shelf to do the final prep for DSC next Saturday. Got the inside of the body painted flat black along with the parachute. These tires cast by Fireball are so sticky, not sure how I'll go about cleaning them. If this was 1:1 I wouldn't worry about it, they'd have so much grip.
Getting close, very close.
Thanks for your comments Tim. I'm looking forward to getting together with a few builder buds from the Plastic Posse on Friday night before DSC on Saturday. One day you'll need to make it.
Great googly moogly!!! That is an awesome set up and I can see why you "borrowed" it from Dave. That is slick and your work is so clean and precise. I see in one of the pictures the steering arms but not in the last two. They must not be attached?
So glad I get to see this in a week and a half at DSC. In person is unbelievable, pictures are nice but in person is the only way to truly appreciate the beauty of this build.
