  1. Thanks for your replies and interest Dan, Curt and Misha. I've spent a bit of time at the bench yesterday although it was Mother's Day. Trying to mate up the cowl, stretched frame and engine cover has me busy. I had to cut off the windshield portion of the one piece cowl and make a taller windshield area. I'll post a few pictures later tonight. Stay tuned.
  2. That explains it perfectly Tim. Soft Scrub huh? I never would have thought of that and I use that stuff all the time at home and at work. Soft Scrub and an old toothbrush work wonders. On with the plating.
  3. Tim - its hard to tell from the picture. I see some of the new 'practice' piece got plated smoothly but the other looks kind of rough or pitted. Is that how it looks to you in real life? Are you still leaning in the direction of using the previous 'brush' system? I'd also like to hear more about the new directions on the 'brush' system as that is the one i have and I wasn't happy with the results, as you know.
  4. Thanks for clicking and following along Mike. I'm bummed, I can't seem to get any bench time during the week. Hopefully this weekend.
  5. The first post in this thread is dated March 14th, 2011 and Chris said in that post he started this about a week ago. Six years and two months, about as long as I've known Chris. This thread is a 'must read' for anyone wanting to better their skills and and a 'how-to' on modeling innovation.
  6. Thanks so much for your interest fellas. Much appreciated. I'm finding it hard to get any concentrated bench time lately but was able to get a bit done. I actually scavenged some parts from the Fruit Wagon that will work better than the Panel Delivery as mentioned before. I really like having the cowl as you can see in the first photo. The Panel Delivery didn't have that as the hood went right up to the vertical piece that holds the windshield. Here's a couple of pictures. In this second picture you can see what I cut off. I'll need to lengthen the frame by a half an inch for it to match the first photo in this thread. Stay tuned.
  7. Its difficult to imagine that whole intake is 1/24th scale. Your eyes must hurt. Really interested to see the results of the electro-less plating kit as the chemical one was a challenge for me. Great stuff Tim.
  8. Believe me, I've thought of doing a food service truck. Might still in fact.
  9. Since i had so much fun building the Carney Wagon and also since I just can't seem to get inspired to finish up any of my started projects, I going to make a companion to the Carney Wagon. Here's a picture of something similar I want to build. I'm planning on starting with the same kit as the Carney wagon but will only use a lengthened chassis, hood, engine and drivetrain. I need to learn about vintage popcorn machines and peanut roasters so I have some work to do. Here's the pic. This should be fun.
  10. The progress on this is glorious Tim. I don't think I've used that adjective in this thread before and I'm quickly running out of words. Really interested in seeing how you do the butterfies. I'm in the front row center with my popcorn and notepad.
  11. Pure artistry. If it wasn't for the green cutting mat, I'd swear this was the real thing. Glad you got to take it to GSL and show it off. It deserves to be seen.
  12. Link's working fine this morning. Thanks for taking the time to post these. Really nice.
  13. Dang...the link isn't working.
  14. Last night, I got to peak in the box of a friend's who has the Chuck Naylor version of the Milner dragster and to see his decal sheet. I was surprised to see the yellow border on the decal wasn't actually yellow but gold. I ordered the Altered States version and we'll see how it looks when it arrives. I got the cowl artwork finished and will await the AS version before proceeding.
  15. Glad this one resurfaced again Bill. Nice work.
  16. Not to worry Danno. I've moved on to something else again. I can't seem to spark any interest in finishing this build. I've even given myself a stern talking to.
  17. OMG...I just wet myself. I still can't believe this is 1/24th scale. Pure perfection there Tim. I'll bet you're feeling pretty good about the whole front assembly. Going to be a real shame for this to be painted and cover all of this beautiful metal work up.
  18. Yea, me either. Where are ya? We didn't approve a vacation request. LOL
  19. I have a question Dave. Where do you keep all of this large scale stuff? Do you have a basement full of these on shelves? OK...I guess that's two questions.
  20. So glad you're sticking with it Greg. This is a great build and needs to be finished.
  21. Thanks Joe. I just checked Danny's website and he's not listing the T47s anymore. I sent him an email so we'll see what happens. I'd at least like to see a picture of them. I gotta get back to work on this as our club's theme for next month is 'In-line Engines' and this is the only inline I have.
  22. I heard back from Joe last night and he said he's just moved so hasn't been making much stuff lately and hopes to get back into the swing of things soon. He did send me a PDF of his current decal offerings.
  23. We'll soon see. I just sent Joe and email requesting a catalog. I'll let you know when / if I hear back from him.
