  1. Holy schnikies!! That is gorgeous brother. You hit this one into the next county. The parachutes really speak to me so please share what you used to cover them with. Superb in every detail.
  2. Any new updates for us? I've got Mr. Pink on the brain.
  3. Photos have been updated. I need to get back to work on this.
  4. OK Cale. The height is 9", the width is 18" and the depth is 9". This all got started because a friend of mine's brother worked for this glass company and he had made the glass box with a mirrored back and nothing on the bottom. My friend gave it to me to keep the dust off of my models. He had no idea what this would turn into. I built this dio to fit inside the box so I can still lift the glass case off and continue to work on it.
  5. Thanks for your interest Cale and I appreciate your comment. Oh dang, I meant to measure this last night and get back with you. Tonight, I promise.
  6. Thanks Jonathan. Still adding vintage drag racing accessories to the back. Had to pull off the spare tire from underneath since I'll need to add a hitch. It'll also go in the back. Stay tuned.
  7. Thanks Mike. I forgot to mention the paint colors. I really don't like the orange paint color on the box. YUK!! What were they thinking? I used Tamiya Pearl White and Tamiya Brilliant blue. I've one spot needing some paint touch up and that is on the passenger door. Now you know why I didn't shoot any pictures of that side.
  8. Since this is pretty much an out of the box build, its going together quickly. Been a long time since I've been able to one built so quickly. Got most everything painted and assembled. Still need to be glued together, radiator hoses added, front bumper, wipers, door handles, etc. Engine bay is clean and I think it looks good even without wires. Changed my mind and went ahead and added the back seat. Still adding stuff to the rear to help tell the story of a long trek across the country. Added a metal cooler and a bell housing. Into the home stretch.
  9. Excellent craftsmanship Rick.
  10. Thanks for the kind words Michael.
  11. Nice looking build up of a snapper Dan. So now that this one's finished, what's next?
  12. Thanks James. I have a few more ideas to add to this one.
  13. Pictures have all been moved over to Fotki.
  14. Here we go. That's a great update Chris and I see you're up to your unique style of detail. Looks great brother. Glad your mojo is coming back.
  15. Looks good Vince, really good. Where did that intake manifold come from?
  16. Thanks David. The idea for the SLM dio was my inspiration for this build. I also have a trailer taking up space on my shelf that I need to build to go along with this. I suppose a car for the trailer will be in order too. Yep, this is a great kit with tons of possibilities.
  17. I can only imagine how stunning this will be with the body painted, decaled and polished under your masterful touch. Tim's right, I can't get anything done but oogle at the pictures. What about exhaust pipes? Won't the body need some work for those? We haven't seen those as of yet. Knowing you, you probably will have them done in ten minutes and post more pictures for use to oogle at.
  18. Nice post Scott and I think that would be great to have a 'pinned' thread with pictures of his finished models. Anyone who is fortunate enough to have one in their collection could post to it so we could all see his masterful creative talents.
  19. Tom called and wants his car back. Good gawd Johnnie. It looks great as a roller. These photos are better reference than the 1:1 car. I am in awe of your work and, although it doesn't seem possible, I think your skills improve with each build. I love how you experiment with some new technique, after-market parts, or paint mixture on each creation your masterful hands make. We're not worthy.
  20. I have two of them. The first one, my wife pre-ordered for me and the other I picked up at Andy's Hobby Headquarters. He's pretty well stocked on them. I have plans for the second one as well. I wanted to familiarize myself with the kit with this build and the second will be something different. I have plans for a third too.
  21. Its a great kit John. Alot of the same tooling as the mid 60s pickup. I was ale to get most of the interior done and I had a hard time figuring out the color scheme on the interior and went with grey and white. The kit seat decals look great with the grey and went on without a hitch. Since this intended for a late 60s racing dio as a tow vehicle, I left out the rear seat and am putting in some items for a cross-country trip. Just getting started on that. Here's a few pictures. The body will be painted blue and white with the blue on the bottom.
  22. Nice collection of altereds. Love me some altereds.
  23. I have to second what Darryl said. This would be beautiful without the subtle weathering but it adds so much more interest. Many times you don't realize what it is that makes your creations so lifelike and dimensional John, but its the weathering techniques used. Flat out gorgeous!! I could, and often do, stare at your WIP photos for a long time and soak in all of the subtle details. In fact, I think I'll go and study these last ones some more. As I do, I often just shake my head slowly side to side.
  24. Thanks guys. This build has temporarily stalled until I source some interior components.
  25. I've been waiting for this kit to come out ever since I heard about last quarter of 2016. I bought two of them and this first one will be basically box stock. Think I'll build it for the Straight Line Modelers dio as a tow vehicle with tool boxes and other related stuff in the back. Here's a few progress pictures. This should be fairly quick based on the length of time it takes me to build detailed ones.
