I do believe it was a light purple, I found it in the isles at Wal-mart in a simple rattle can, it was a pain in the arse to apply but I managed to get it to stick, I think its the last time I go shopping for paint at walmart lol.
-
It was a simple rattle can I got from walmart a while back not sure exactly. It didnt turn out the way I wanted it though either. I was actually attempting to get more of a lime green type like "SGT" transport but this still turned out alright i guess.

Yes they are, I just cut out the top portion of the decal kit with the beige color in it and just used the rest.

bare metal foil question
skulls replied to catd11rpusher's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
^^^remeber this, write this down. haha Found out first hand on using a dull knife it turned out like ###### and ended up wasting a good 1/4 sheet of BMF and well damaged the area on my model. -
This is exactly! I mean exactly what i wanna build, I am drooling just looking at the picture haha The only differance i I wanna keep the hood fenders stock, in this pic it looks like they havewent for the "outlaw" style which is not what I am looking for, ut other than that this is it!

I'll talk to the local distributer next week and see what he has to say, worse case scenario he just says no right? But definatly for now I will pick up the 378 pete to get the project started, and also check out porky's website and shop awa on there!

Well first off thank you so much for the responses. Kostas, I definatly liek your idea of going right to the supplier, but I think at this time it may not be in the budget to buy bulk as well as I only know of one supplier in this area and the few times I have called them they were not very "friendly" to say the least, but by all means if I was looking on jumping right in that would be my first option. Also for that would you have to be some sort of registered business due to the fact of them giving them to you at wholesale for "re-sale) purposes? Z06bob, I will check out that website and see from there cuz I definatly want to get a few more but nothing crazy, the main thing getting everything ready to make a 379X that was my ultimate dream truck and making one of those would be absolutly amazing! So if anyone has any ideas on what kit to use and where to get the cab and hood etc. it would be awesome Thx James

I just have a general question, this may apply a bit more for the guys north of the border, but I am looking to get a hold of a few more of the Italeri truck kits but first off I am having a difficult time finding a place locally, second the price of these kits seem to be out of this world! This definatly seems to be a pricey hobby! haha None the less if anyone knows of somewhere locally (Toronto,Durham, GTA) that would have these kits availabe and for a reasonable price, or even online for that fact it would be greatly appreciated. Thx James

I was thinking for doing the fenders body color with a chassis color type insert along the middle, but again it will be a guess and check on that I suppose, and thank you again with all the help and support on here!

Dunno, unfortunatly I dont do well with computers, but I am attaching them through a file on my pc as a J-peg and it seems to be large because they are only allowing me a max of 1.98mb on this post for some reason
-
There we go, I cant seem to find a way to post them all up cuz the acutal size is pretty darn big and they wont let me post more than one

]Just though I would post some pics of an old "work in progress" I still have alot of detail work to do on both tractor and trailer. Also I have the stock mufflers with and 7" 45 slash cut pipes leading out of them (pics to follow of those) and well more work to be done on the full fenders which i attempted to make out of plastic pipe couplings I saw at Home depot they were like a buck each so I though I would try it out for the heck of it. The main reason why I am posting these pics is because I am looking for suggestion, ideas any of the above to be creative with this truck so I am finally complete it and start on another! haha

Finally I hear other people on here that agree, some nice modern trucks and trailers would be amazing! "Highway" I think you have the right idea with a nice Classic XL, or Coronado I am just dreaming up some ideas in my head of the potential of either kit. It is also good to hear that there are people out there that are listening to what we have to say as well.

Lonestar Daycab
skulls replied to cargostar's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I think that the day cab lonestar would look sweet hauling a nice set of tankers. If you really wanna go all out, maybe do it up on "Shell" colours. -
CATCO RD-105/ RD-45 Tractor Trailer
skulls replied to QCDOC's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
That thing is so cool, now is that a custom chassis and they just mount a cab to the frame? I see they have an argosy cab, do they design them with other cabs as well? -
Just a quick added question along the same topic but where do you get decal paper???

truck detail stuff
skulls replied to catd11rpusher's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Also when it comes to decals I find if you are looking for the "sticker" look put the decals on overtop of the clearcoat, but if you want them to blend and look like they are almost "painted" on then clear overtop of the decals. I actually learned that from the asian guy you see on youtube all the time he did the Italeri 377 peterbilt and did an amazing job. -

Ok so I do have a question about this kit if someone in here will be able to answer. I am wondering about the general fitment of the parts on this kit. For example we have all built a kit from AMT Ertl and well the general quality kinda sucks to say the least compared to an Italeri or revell product, so if soemone has an idea on that it would be greatly appreciated, and I cant wait until this kit goes on sale because it looks like a really fun build.
