  1. Hello all, well good news is I have a FLD kit sitting here collecting dust, so the cab would not be an issue. Also PM sent Leo, look forward to hearing back from you.
  2. This kind of goes with my recent topic that I have created here, I am wondering if we can start a topic on here that has ALL of the possible resin casters sites as well as photo etch. etc, and make it a sticky at the top of the page, this way here it would save alot of searching as well as help promote some of these guys and there work. This is just a suggestion that i know would probobly have to go through the admins on the site weather or not promoting businesses on here is permitted, any feedback on this to maybe make this a little easier? Thx James
  3. Just wondering if anybody out there currently has a resin Classic XL hood, grill combo available. I talked with Eric @ P&P and he is no longer casting this, so my options have kinda ran a little thin, so any bit of input would be greatly appreciated. (pardon the typo in the topic, dont know how to correct it) haha Thx James
  4. For the guys who assemble then paint, do you have any issues with getting into the smaller areas like inbetween the gussets on the crossmembers?
  5. I think I will give it a try, nows its just a matter of going to pick up some stock at the hobby shop. Again "cavejohnson" that is a really great idea with the grease, I will give it a shot and it should hold the weight that I need on it.
  6. Very good question, I was just wondering that myself?
  7. Toothpaste? Really? Ok I have to try that!
  8. Hmm I will have to give it a try, at this point I really have nothing to lose.
  9. This "google" thing you speak of? Is that all a part of this "internet" thing I have been hearing so much about?
  10. Thank you so much everyone for the ideas. Unfortunatly most of the glass that I need is curved so the CD case idea may not work, but I will definatly keep that in mind for the future. So by the sounds of it I will probobly end up using the acetate, it seems to be the popular product. Now, any ideas on how much that stuff runs? And/or if you get purchase it online? I'm not in a rush for any of it so if I can get it the cheapest off an online site and have to wait for shipping, its no big deal. Jim, you mentioned a product called "Novus #1"? I have not heard of this at all? Please tell me more about this? Thanks James
  11. Hmm very interesting, now to go and look for a cool hot wheels blister pack..... For the acetate of course ;-)
  12. I have ran into a few models I have wanted to restore but most of them the glass is toast. Any suggestions on what alternative I could use, there is flat as well as curved windshields. Thx James
  13. Wow, thank you so much guys for the input. Tony those rams you made look amazing, and just like everything else in this hobby, it looks like it will take a bit of time and alot more patience.
  14. I am just wondering if anyone might know a way to make some sort of functional hydraulic rams, just bacically somthing that can be positionable but strong enough to stabilize some weight. I am looking to see if I can scratch build a car carrier trailer in the near future and well with all the hydraulic rams they have on those trailers I want to do the same but maybe make them strong enough to be positionable and still hold the weight of a car model on them. Thanks james
  15. It looks absolutly amazing! Looks liek I'm going to pick up a sheet of that stuff!
  16. I cant believe how simple the equasion is to do the scale conversion is... (I not only wrote that down but also took a screen shot on my phone) thank you for that.
  17. Oh my how the ideas are brewing in my head! But I think I have narrowed it down to a little somethin...But I cant say what it is, all I know is that I'm gonna need a whole lot of styrene, which brings me to my next question, where is the best place to get some for the cheapest price, now I'm not in a hurry for it so if it takes a bit longer for shipping no big deal, even if it is more convienent to buy bulk than I will go that route as well. Bob thx again buddy you are sparking my ideas for not only this project but future projects as well!
  18. Thx so much for the feedback Z06Bob, I really like the idea of repeating the design on the tractor but how would I take the same image not only A: find somewhere to get the same design B: find a way to scale it up or strech it? As for the axle spread? it was a bit closer than that but the front axle is just floating there and kinda rolled on me before the picture was taken haha, so I said screw it and took it anyway. The more I look at the bad height differance the more I dont like it, so I may just put the trailer with my 377 peterbilt, or this might give me an excuse to build a new day cab truck all done up? Hmmm now there are more thoughts brewing. P.S Z06Bob, your volvo is the reason why I dug mine out to try to finish, so thanks for the inspiration haha
  19. The build was really smooth with the truck, and well I'm sure with a bit of modifcation you could easily fit an engine into these trucks. I want to get a really cool stripe type design for the side of the trailer but I wouldnt have an idea on where to start looking for something like that so if anyone has any suggestion it would be greatly appreciated!
  20. Well this is one of my work in progress units, the volvo ( which has been posted on here before) is still not done, and the trailer. I havnt really noticed how bad out of scale that trailer is until I started following this site and well once I mated these two up, well you can really notice it now. So one of my plans of course is to take another truck from the collection with i short bunk on it and mate the trailer up with that so it will be "less" noticable.
  21. That would be perfect, either that or I will end up having a fleet of prostars, with tarilers all over the place lol
