  1. I am redoing the A-team van kit, and I am kind of at a stall, the body is painted, I sprayed the black , but brushed the gun metal color on ( I know brushed), well my questions are these. what is the best way to smooth out the brush strokes? Now my other question is, the weather here has made it hard to get a smooth paint job, I need to wet sand, but the with the van, it has a lot of body lines, and raised areas, so would it be better to clear and then wet sand down? Thanks
  2. I am going to join this as soon as get the kit, I am going to do a Race car Transpoter, The rig will be the new lonestar kit, and I will build up another trailer.
  3. I agree that is really nice, I would buy something like that

    Audi R8

Here is the latest build, Revells Audi R8 , it was a really easy kit, had some fit issues with the body to frame. I added a spoiler and front spliter, the paint was not the shade I was going for, and while wet sanding I managed to knick the paint with my finger nails.
  5. Thanks for the help guys, how long do these micro mesh sheets/pads last?
  6. Hey guys, I know this might sound like a stupid question, but I have been trying to make my paint jobs better, so I picked up a micro mesh kit , I bought the Revell kit at a LHS, it didn't come with the compound , but I do have both a bottle of polishing compound and scratch X. I know the basics for the most part, but the part that I dont is, do you use the pads and wetsand, or do you use a rubbing compound?.

    911 GT3

Here is Tamiya Porsche 911 GT3 kit, it was a very simple kit, use dupicolor white primer, with Tamiya yellow follow with a coat of testors lacquer clear . I picked up this kit over the weekend as a finished building a room reward. I will say after building this one, it left me with that after eating dinner but not feeling full feeling , that's what I get for being rushed by a pregnant women in a warm hobby store . One of the things that I don't like is that the mirrors don't stay on, if you even lightly touch one it falls off, so I need to get more super glue.
  8. Well here it is, It didn't come out quite like I wanted it to, the shade of blue is a little darker and more metallic then I wanted, I kept breaking off the mirrors( 4 each side), well it still looks good. I started off with dupicolor white primer, then started painting with krylon blue (it was the shade I wanted to match the color in GT5 ) , well after some problems with the paint, more of my doing , wet sanded to far, when I put another coat of paint on had problems. So I decided to buy Tamiya paint so I wouldn't have any more problems with painting. I have one wet coat of testor clear lacquer, have not polished yet.
  9. Here are a few more pics, I have not cleared the body yet, that is next.
  10. I have painted the body, I had it painted about a week ago, but I wetsanded some areas that needed it, well after I wet sanded it, I used rubbing compond on it, during that I notice I had the paint chip off on off the fenders and a couple areas, they were small chips, but in areas that I couldnt hide. So I need to re coat it. Well I dont remember why but the body went in to the purple bath. Since I had already used the polishing compound on parts of the body, that was stopping the purple stuff. So not thinking I used a blade to help srcape off some off the paint that I wouldnt peel off, so I gouged the body all over. So I tried to fill it, didnt work out to well. I am going to use the micro mesh system on now.
  11. Making a little more progress, I have pretty much completed the interior and the chassis as much as I can, got the body primed, going to get it ready to paint.
  12. That is a very nice build, I love the paint job, you did a great job
  13. Very nice builds
  14. Thanks guys for the links, I feel like an idiot, all the times I went on the website I never expanded the interior options, I only notice the main colors. Anyways here is a small update, I have almost finished the chassis, I am in the process of painting the interior. I am debating if I want to use the rustolem primers I have, I have a white metal primer and the auto sealer primer, I tested the white metal primer , but it didnt seem to want to dry all the way. So I am thinking about going and picking up and trying dupicolor primer, I still need to get a can for the body color anyways. I will gets some more pics up of the interior soon.
  15. The GTR kit is my favorite, I have always had a sweet spot for the skylines, now the GTR, the GTR kit was one I was looking forward to very much, and that is the one that krylon primer near ruined the body. I was able to somewhat salvage it, after a bath in the purple stuff, and a lot of sanding I was able to get back to a point where I could paint it. The krylon white primer really crazed the heck out of the body. And the punch in the gut, was after I finished with the painting the body, had the clear on it, I some how got a small kick on the roof, down to the primer. So after a few weeks, I masked the entire body and resprayed the roof.
  16. Well here is my first diecast, I have always been a plastic model guy, but I wanted to have new current police vehicle , so I decided to give doing a die cast a try. This is going to be a AZ DPS , I just need to get some decals ordered. I will say what a pain it was to strip it, after soaking long enough in the purple bath, I was able to just peel the paint off. I used rustolem metal primer, then krylon white, then a gloss coat. On to the interior, I added a cage, radio, computer, radio mike and speaker, radar unit and gun, added lights to rear window and deck and a rear facing rardar gun. I also took the push bar that came with it off, and added one that I built, I think it looks a little better, plus the one that came with it was perfect for my Phoenix PD Tahoe ( the older style) .
  17. I went on the Mercedes of UK, and Germany and even went on the U.S. website and they didn't show very many color options, but that does not mean anything. I will do a little more research for on the European version and see what I can find out
  18. Finished this up about a month ago, I still need get some Phoenix Fire Dept decals made up for it. I am going to add fire hoses to it.
  19. Here is a Italeri PETERBILT 377 A/E, I didn't get enough coats of paint on the rear of the sleeper , and I forgot to put the air scoop on the left side, If I can find it I can put it on.
  20. Here is my it Italeri Volvo VN 780, I bought this last year, and what a pain it was finding one of these kits, well it pretty much Box stock. I enjoyed building this kit.
  21. Here are some of my recent builds, I had problems with all of them, and the problem was I used krylon primer, that caused me so many problems. Now these builds are based off of cars that I have in the game Gran Turismo, I had been doing NASCAR and Police car builds ( 6 Linberg Chargers one Magnum) I wanted to do something Different so I thought it would be cool to do some cars that are in the game. I scratch built the spoiler wing on the 458 and the Enzo, the wing on the GTR came from the Viper kit, I took the wing off the eclipse amt kit that was in a box in bad shape. I All but the Nissan GTR are Revell kits, I have fit problems with the Enzo, I was trying to get a smudge off the 458 and managed to remove the future and the gloss coat. But I did learn that I need to never use Krylon primer on kits again
  22. Thanks for the pics, when I was looking for interior pictures, I just did a quick look thru google images, and most of them were all black or the black and red. I kind of like this one, what I am wondering is if there is a difference in interior colors offered for the U.S. and none U.S., I am going to build this as an none U.S. version.
  23. Just got the Revell of Germany SLS AMG kit, this is the first Revell AG car kit that I have done, built there trucks before. I always have had problems decided what kit to buy, can never make up my mind, so I decided I would do kits of cars that I have in the Gran Turismo game. This will be the Fifth one, the exterior will be blue, the interior not sure yet. I kind of want to go with a two tone lighter colors, but most of the pics I have seen, and thru the Mercedes websites , only show all black interiors. This will most likely be my last build for a short time, I have a baby thats about to come, so I am going to try and get it done before she gets here, I have around two weeks.
  24. Here a the only pics I have of the hing set up
  25. Thanks for the nice words, I know a lot of the areas that I didn't do right, on the foil I was just using tin foil, which doesn't really work that well, when I just should of used BMF. One of the things that messed me up, was I took the dimensions from the real trailer, and converted them to 1/24th scale, but during the building process things didn't look right, so I had to correct it, then that messed things up. Last night while going thru the truck forum I found a few threads on race transporter's , so I wanted to post pics of what I have done to help some other members out, showing that's its not really hard to do, just takes a lot of sheet plastic to do it. I would love to see a kit for a double decker race car trailer. For the lift gate, I am using the fabric rope that came in the Revell of germany peter built tow truck, once the rope is secured it has enough strenght to support a model . Now there are some parts of the lift gate that I am still working on. I have not been able to recreated the style hinges used on the real trailer. I have good idea on how to build it, just havent found a way to do it were it will work on this trailer with out having to rebuild everything concerening the lift gate.
