  1. Front to back and sometimes back to front!
  2. Holy Bosozoko, Batman! Cool model of really wild cars.
  3. If it is too good to be true.....it often is.
  4. At least you can glean some underside details from the photo!
  5. Are there any F1 cars that aren't cool?
  6. Ditto for the AMT RR/GTX kits. I did the Sox & Martin Superbird and it fit like a glove. It was an easy conversion.
  7. Cool.
  8. I enjoyed that. Thanks, Harry.
  9. But Ummm, isn't Horsepower about how fast you can apply that torque? Torque is great. I am all for it but there is a reason why they don't run diesels in top fuel. You need horsepower, too. More RPMs mean more horsepower. F1 engines run about 18,000 rpm now. More rpms, more HP.
  10. That would be most awesome. There have been no Packard V-12 kits at all in 1/24-25.
  11. It has been going on for quite a few years. Try joining a local model car club. There are two! Model Car Club of Minnesota and RPM.
  12. The batteries had the caps all the way to the back end of the top so the battery acid wouldn't flow out. I remember seeing those when I worked at a few gas stations in the 70s - back when they had attendants and there was no self-serve. Sort of like New Jersey today.
  13. Beautiful build, Harry.
  14. Torque is for tractor pulling. Horsepower and RPM is for racing and accelerating.
  15. I like them both. Sorry, I am no help!
  16. The only large scale kits I build are motorcycles. There is just something about big scale cars that I can't get into. Maybe it is just familiarity with 1/24 - 25th scale kits. I used to build a lot of 1/43rd. I have even built 1/87th (HO) kits. I haven't built a 1/16th car since I was 15 years old( Revell Funny cars). I scratch build a lot and I still stick to 1/24-25. Ultimately it seems like too big a project to build a big scale model to the level of detail that satisfies me.
  17. We all have to bear in mind that even though Ferrari only built 39 GTOs, there must be at least 90 of them out there now due to replication. Some of the fakes are a little shaky but some are quite good. Even though they were handmade bodies the variation is not as great as the different renditions of kits would suggest. The greatest variation was usually the result of accident repairs. Most of these series built hand made bodies were made to match wooden bucks.
  18. I don't see anyone here making the distinction between a CONTEST and an NNL display type of show. Almost all contests that are worthy of the name do not allow previous winners to return to competition unless they have been substantially rebuilt. You can do whatever you want for an NNL. If you want to bring the same model year in and year out you are certainly free to do that. That will put you in the slug category as far as building goes. Once in a while I will bring one of my older builds to an NNL because I have a 30+ year record of building and sometimes people newer to the scene enjoy seeing my older builds because they are new to them!
  19. AFX's pics clearly show how tall the Aurora version is. I always thought the Gunze was best but the Fujimi is quite nice. There certainly are a lot of 250 GTO kits out there! Yet no one will kit my favourite Bugatti T57SC Atlantic!
  20. The greenhouse section totally looks like a 250 GT SWB. Someone should convert one back to that which was intended in the first place! That would a unique conversion!
  21. Very well built and nicely styled. Great work!
  22. Sometimes when I am on a ride with my older bikes and many people who pass me have shiny new modern carbon-fiber bikes, I feel like I am pee-Wee on his bike!
  23. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pee-Wee-Herman-Bike-Beach-Crusier-Paul-Ruebens-Autograph-/171254302438?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&nma=true&si=GE5Xq9KlUUMy2WS5V%252FCmak7KDbI%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc Very nice touch was the free shipping!!!
  24. Scrapping out a 66 Chevelle parts car that had been sitting around for a year or so without a gascap on the tank. I figured the tank was full of rainwater or that the gas had evaporated. No problem! I will use the cutting torch to to cut the straps and take the tank out! As I cut the second strap the tank fell to the ground, several gallons of gas ran out and there was was a fairly loud WHOOSH! Good thing I did it in the sandy driveway! No harm, no foul. Then there was one time when I had my dad's 63 Chrysler New Yorker wagon out one night. My buddy and I thought doing fish hooks in a local parking lot was fun. We did three or four and on the next one there was a loud clanking and the car wouldn't move! It was tough explaining to my dad how the U-joint broke. I was actually better than he was to his dad! He wrecked three of my Grandfather's cars by the time he left the house at age 20. My grandfather was a doctor and had ER duty one of the nights my dad wrecked. His buddies brought him to the ER to get some stitches. My grandfather loved telling the story about how he was so mad at him for wrecking another car that he sewed him up with no painkillers! This would have been 1946-48 and it was a new Oldsmobile!
  25. Scale Model Supplies in St. Paul has several tracks set up. They are original 60s commercial tracks and they run them on certain nights. I think they are 1/32 and 1/24. They also have a dragstrip.
