  1. I found this thread on Corvette Forums . Ugly Corvette thread
  2. Is this the world's ugliest Corvette contest? Looks like some real contenders here!
  3. It is mostly successful except for the nose. It is too busy and seems to miss out on the theme. It needs the flip up headlights like the original had. The rest of the car is surprisingly good.
  4. It looks like it started with an Eckler or Greenwood type body kit. To fit toro wheels to it it would need some big spacers!! That thing fell off the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down!
  5. I suspected Eastern Bloc but couldn't find pics. The grille looks like a Cadillac, the hood and front fenders look like Buick. The doors and green house '49-'51 Merc. A cool car but I hate those wheels the owner put on it!
  6. That is pretty cool. A GTO is not exactly a "belly-button" car but this one is even less so. I hope you do it up right.
  7. has not set their status

  8. You definitely can get the decal off and re-use it! It takes patience. Just soak the body in water for however long it takes. Years ago I did just that with an MPC 1/20 Turbine car that I found at a swap meet. It took six weeks but those decals that had been on it for almost 20 years did come off. A few days in like your situation should not be a problem. If you used decal setting solution it might take a while. Give it a shot and be patient! Good luck.
  9. There were a few coachbuilt cars back in the 20s and 30s which had 4 opening doors like yours and no center post. It's a great look. The latches are on the top and bottom of the doors.
  10. The only NNLs that did not have any awards were the first one which was the founding of the NNL in Tom Woodruff's garage in Jackson Center, Ohio and the second one in my motel room in Toledo the following October. After that they all had some sort of award for a theme, sub-theme, etc. I would define the difference between an NNL and a contest as one being popular vote and the other being judged. To say that there should not be any awards at an NNL or that there wasn't originally is not correct.
  11. That was cool but it was sort of a controlled flip that landed on the wheels. It would have been really awesome if he had been on all 4 wheels all the way around!
  12. That is so obviously not real. What is interesting is that Daimler Benz does have a test track with a banked curve that goes vertical sort of like the Wall of Death motorcycle stunts. I have seen pictures of various M-B on the track but the most frightening one was one of the buses! Here's a link. Oh my God! Oh my God II !
  13. Thanks for sharing pics, Tim. What was up with that XKE coupe? It looks interesting. Power? That Pro/custom Caddy fastback was kind of frightening. It looks like one of Jeff Saubers models come to life!!!
  14. I am stumped!
  15. Personally, I think nostalgia can be very evil in the wrong hands. It makes people pine for a "lost way of life". I maintain that things in general get better and that includes model cars, music, life, the universe and everything! I try to look forward as much as possible. The past is valuable but it shouldn't be a model for how to live because we have all moved on.
  16. There is no secret handshake, but you need to drink some of that blue stuff!
  17. Aside from the fact that you started another one and haven't finished anything I think it looks pretty good! Instead of white on top how about a light lilac or lavender?
  18. No metal flake Zingers? There goes Western Civilisation!
  19. "My wives B-Day Gift" Ok now, what did you get for your other wives?
  20. Harry, You typoed your e-mail! I figured it out though.
  21. Very cool! 1/12th scale?
  22. Very fun and cool!
  23. Very nice!
  24. Porsche did sell street versions of this car and the ones I saw were silver! About the only visble differences were the interior which was a better finished with a little padding and license plates!
