What brings you to this forum?
Modelmartin replied to lonewolf's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It amuses me. There are more wiseguys here than the other forums. Gregg and Jairus who? what! -
And then there are those Cadillac commercials with hard rock music!!?? OY! Funny thing about GM - the remaining divisions are named for a pair of French brothers, a Scotsman, the chief of the Ottawa tribe, and the French founder of Detroit. I guess that is all-american in the sense that it is diverse.

How about the AMT/ERTL 67 Impala?
-
Sounds like a Jo-Han kit to me. It's pretty sought after.

These are afew Dune Buggies I have built over the last few years. MPC V-rod rebuilt from a glue bomb, It has new plating, Tamiya Candy Lime Green paint. http://images28.fotki.com/v1033/photos/1/1...7/tee003-vi.jpg This a Revell re-issued Gypsy Dune Buggy. Paint is Tamiya Orange with gold pearl in clear over that. Wheels are Monogram and tires are from Jimmy Flintstone. I scratchbuilt the exhaust. http://images30.fotki.com/v465/photos/1/11...7/gypsy1-vi.jpg This is an old MPC Sand Shark. It turns out that there was a real dune buggy called the Sand Shark and ws manufactured in southern Michigan not too far from MPC. This was a glue bomb I had the chrome re-done, paint is Tamiya Mica Red and those are the original kit decals. This is a box-art replica model and one of my favorites. http://images30.fotki.com/v433/photos/1/11...ndshark1-vi.jpg

Quick early mock-up, porsche hot rod of a different tune
Modelmartin replied to Gray Smith's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Very Cool! I am working on a Revell T-Bone from the 70s (VW powered C-cab pickup with a renault style shovel nose) and am putting in a 911 GT1 drivetrain! -
Yodel American Police series
Modelmartin replied to ABC Auto Industry's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Those kits were distributed in the US in the early 80s. I remember them on the shelves of several LHS. They are typical Japanese kits with nice external detail but set up for happy-go-fun electric motor power. -
Marc, You could take some vitamin supplements for your condition.

Oh come on, guys! Look at the sun reflecting off of it and the dust on the tires, wood grain, etc. No way it's a model!

Need a good Photoetch source
Modelmartin replied to ubermodel's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Try www.photo-etch.co.uk I was really happy with them and they take credit cards. They will do anything from 1-off to production and can deal with any kind of art but of course the more ready to use it is the less it will cost. -
Very nicely done!

I got a set of Slixx Dale Creasy Craftsman decals for the Revell Firebird funny car kit. That's the one with circular saw blades around each wheel well. It goes with all of the MAD magazine sponsored cars.

I have a couple of those in gluebomb form also. I hope to build one good one out of them. One has decals on it so I will have to get it soaking to remove them. Last time I did that it took 6 weeks and I was able to stick them on a clear decal sheet and brush Superfilm over them and re-use them. I will be using the engine from the Shalako/ Skorpion kit since the IMC engine is a bit lame except for those carbs. I also have a couple of Bugs Buggy gluebomb kits to rebuild - break out the pearl orange! Dune buggies rule!
-
That is cool. I like the jetnose and tail and then there is a car engine sticking out of it. Those F104 guys are nuts. I hope they don't kill their driver in it.

Modelmartin replied to kod38's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
How about using a Gunze Sangyo Body so it can be an o val window Baja? -
WIP.....Lowe's Spongebob Nascar M/C...New Updates.9/22/07
Modelmartin replied to 1320wayne's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Very nice build, Wayne. That SpongeBob sponsorship is just so off-kilter it is kind of cool. SpongeBob is the most annoying thing on this planet next to Gilbert Godfrey. UUUUHHHHH! -
Cool model! I like it.

You go, man! I still do not understand how anyone who is serious about model building can use a spray can for their model's paint job! For the price of several kits which will not ever be built because we all have too many to build, one can get an airbrush which will transform your model building experience.

Good yuks! Mustebanger? Corvarado? Middle age Beetle?

I second the motion of spray booth and respirator. The booth can be as simple as a cardboard or a home-made plywood box with cheap bathroom fan attached to it with a flex hose leading out the window. It's good for your health and controls dust in the house and ....and.... and..... you get better paint jobs in a spray booth with the overspray being controlled.

That is a fine build of a difficult kit. I like it.

Happy Birthday, Bob! I got a resin 37 Chev sedan delivery body from Ebay that was a little disappointing. It wasn't bad but it wasn't up to modern standards. I have coming SliXX decals for the Dale Creasy CraftsMan Funny Car. I have all of the MAD magazine kits and decals so I thought what the H#ll I might as well throw that on the pile.
