  1. Lacquer!Lacquer!Lacquer!
  2. I have found that airbrushing decanted "Chrome " spray paint gives a really nice bright aluminum finish like new unpolished aluminum. That may look better than plating in some situations. Looking forward to seeing your build of this kit.
  3. The Mercedes high speed transport had a 300 sedan chassis with a 300 SL engine in it. It could haul a racecar at 100 mph+. I believe Mercedes used it to haul cars back to the factory for service from the races on Saturdays after practice and qualifying to get them ready for the race and hauled them back on Sunday. Someone in California built a 1-1 hauler inspired by the Mercedes. They used a Chevy motor and an El Camino cab hung out front. How about a Cuda cab with foreshortened nose or a high speed transport based on the new Chrysler 300 or Dodge Charger. I think that would be sufficiently "Cab Forward"!!
  4. I voted for the Deora/L700 combo. Seemed kind of cool. I keep wanting to say Deodera. Something smells.
  5. Seattle Mike? OY! NNL west is March 1st - you should be able to finish something by then. I will likely see you there. Be cool,......duuuuuuude!
  6. Dang! You guys have a lot of talent down there in P.R.! I am impressed!
  7. Hi Tim, Good to see you and your cool models on the forum!
  8. OY!
  9. You trying to get that thing in a magazine about Model Cars? Wow , even the class designation MB/MCM is a reference to the mag! Great build too, by the way!
  10. I like it a lot! But I am biased. Nice build! Love the Underdog markings. That was one of my favorite cartoons as a kid.
  11. Two thumbs up! Who cares about labels. Rat rod has long turned into a " Monkey See! Monkey Do! " kind of deal just like all the rodding trends before it. Be imaginative and build whatever you like!
  12. You gotta love the Killer Bs! Also loved all of the rally car crash videos! Thanks for the good yucks!
  13. Very nice job. I enjoy seeing restored models especially when they look as good as yours. I love vintage El Caminos. I have a Modelhaus resin copy of this kit sitting in an SMP original 60 El camino box!
  14. The importer is an added mouth in the food chain. For Domestic kits there is the manufacturer, distributor and retailer. For imported kits there is Manufacturer, importer, distributor and retailer. There may be some import duty involved but I don't know for sure about that. Once I saw on the shelf at the LHS a Lindberg Bugatti Royale, a Gunze Sangyo release of the same kit, and then the Revell Germany Import version of the Gunze release! Each one was marked higher! I think the Lindberg was in the $10.00 range and the Revell Germany import was $25.00
  15. I seem to remember that the 70s era Super Stock Mopars moved the springs inward and left the tubs as is and that gave them a few more inches of tire width.
  16. Cool model! I just started doing trim with alclad and I agree it looks better. BMF is still easier, though and less nerve wracking. I like the wheelie stance and the wrinklewalls. Perhaps needs a driver!
  17. I like the surfboard access window in the tailgate.
  18. What took you so long!
  19. I bought his 37 Chev sedan delivery. It wasn't that great. Master was not as craftsmanlike as it should be. Casting quality was ok. His service was good.
  20. The Tognotti T was sold separately. I have one. Brass era Ts are tough to duplicate because there were so few. Some of my resin parts would help you out but you would need to use an AMT T-bucket on the early fenders with the cowl modified. My 1915 fenders are correct for the front but not for the rears. You would need to scratchbuild the corrct early turtledeck. I think the MPC Carl Casper Paddy Wagon has the right fenders. My advice is to find an original kit or built-up. You would save yourself a lot of grief!
  21. The tires, headers and interior look a little too cheesey for a real one. Guessing model.
  22. Impressive work and a very cool subject! Looking forward to seeing more progress and then completion.
  23. It's always fun to see semi-obscure kits built and built well. I have one of those in my Lambo kit pile( for some strange congenital reason I can't get into Ferraris that much but love all Lambos). Those wheels look like some Countach wheels. perhaps some Fujimi wheels would make a good upgrade.
  24. There were more than a few MG gassers and __ /MSP (modified sports) in the 60s. They tended to be TDs and TFs and some MGA and Austin Healeys. Your model is very typical of that type of car from that era. very cool!
