  1. One of the other fun facts about the Penske '69 Camaros was that they were their '68s but reskinned with '69 sheetmetal. Makes it kind of hard for someone to claim they have one of the original 68s. I think the 67s are floating around out there.
  2. That is one of the most common and most boring themes! Themes at NNLs need to be broad and general so more people can participate. Just my 2/100 dollars worth!
  3. Hey Gregg! I thought you were done buying kits for a while???!!!! I know how that works. I can't stand Wal-Mart so I will wait for my Local Hobby Shop to stock them. I am not much of a custom guy but this might be fun.
  4. Sorry I am responding 6 months after you asked. The Hobby shop stuff stops at #80. I would suggest machine tool supply places. There may be some online places too. I found a #87 drill bit for $13.00 !!!!!!!!!! I would use that #80. All you need is some sort of drill press to drill straight holes. You don't need a lathe! Can't recommend the heated poker thing. I can't imagine the wire retaining enough heat to sink through the plastic.
  5. The only dumb question is the one not asked. By definition your questions are good ones! The water trap should go between the tank and the regulater. Just go to a hardware store for the fittings to hook everything up. They're are just pipe fittings, usually 1/4 NPT. Use teflon tape to seal the threads. I would suggest just hauling your parts and pieces in and get someone at the store to set you up with what you need. I would also suggest quick-disconnect fittings at the outlet of the regulater so you can readily disconnect your airbrush hose so you you use the compressed air for other things. Everything including quick-disconnects should run you about $10.00. Happy airbrushing! It is the only way to go!
  6. MCW has the Sunoco blue paint. Fred Cady's decals work just fine. The Perry's 69 Camaro is excellent. I believe Randy Derr did the pattern and He should know that car real well! Trans Am would have to be a Camaro or a Javelin. The Corvettes were endurance racers.
  7. I like Tamiya paint but hate their spray cans. Like you said "active and angry". I won't even use a spray can of any brand on the most insignificant part on a quickie build. Uggh! I like Alpines - I have all of the 1/24th kits but the flare-fendered Heller A110. Abarths too! Must be something about the letter A... Aardvark.....Andy....My wife's name is Ann....Abarths... Alpines. Oh well! Don't know where Bugattis and Porsches fit in there. Good luck on your second paint job, Mark. What weird color this time?
  8. I thought GM stuff was pretty interchangeable back then. Would a Chevelle or Chevy II box be the same? I know that everything from Chevelles, Camaros to Impalas was interchangeable, they just had differnt ratios in them sometimes.
  9. Slick!
  10. I never thought of a 61 in silver but it looks fantastic especially with the white trim and red interior. I like it.
  11. Very Cool! Where did the fenders come from? Are they from the MPC Lincoln?
  12. I have used Chrome-tech for years and have almost always had good results. I mount my own and it is just common sense how to mount it. Face out , don't mount anything where something will block the plating from getting on the part. I pre-coat my parts with clear lacquer. I get a better result this way because sometimes' Bob's pre-coating isn't as good as I like. I have found Chrome-tech to be reliable and conscientious. In fact I am sending 2 racks off to him this week.
  13. Two very cool models!
  14. Milt, Give resin a try! I think you will find that working with it is quite easy. The biggest pitfall is knowing which companies produce good quality parts. When you get good parts it is fantastic. When you get bad ones you sometimes just want to pitch the stuff. Start out by looking at the stuff in person before buying or get recommendations from other builders you know. It will open up so many possibilities for you.
  15. I posted some pics some time ago of my Europe 1/32 Panhards 1891, 1895, and 1905. 1/32 scale is the best for antique, brass and vintage kits. I probably have about 30-40 of them from Pyro, Matchbox, Airfix. AMT made a few real nice ones like a 32 Ford 3-window, 60 T-bird, Avanti, 40 Ford Tudor and a Ranchero. Monogram did a bunch in the 60s. There are a lot of very cool Japanese kits. You could build an impressive collection of 1/32 cars and trucks if so desired.
  16. Well I got the Convertible top painted and the Alclad sprayed and it is starting to shape up. I am kind of digging it. Having trouble with pics. Cr@p! Ok I figured it out! Me so DUH!
  17. I use some real fine grained bondo which feather-edges real nice but for serious gap-filling and shape making I use Milliput epoxy putty. The stuff is real nice and it is really strong and does not stink! I echo several of you about the need to get it as close as possible in plastic before putty is applied.
  18. There was an Allison powered 69-70 Mustang funny car. There was an article in Car Craft about it. I will find and scan it this weekend and post it here. It was pretty wild.
  19. Bob, I did find your pics of FB III at Amelia. Can I use them on the refernce CD I include with the kit? The open door shots in particular I never found elsewhere. Joel D provided me with scans of the original GM brochures and even an SAE Engineering Journal article on the car. The CD also has old magazine articles and old pics from here and there. I don't know when they did it but GM repainted the car. It used to be a gold tinted silver, almost a champagne type silver and the interior was red! Here is a magazine cover clearly showing several things, the red interior and the reflective coating on the bubbletop. The color seems a little too much gold but it is definitely not the same as the paint on it now.
  20. That will be way too much fun!
  21. The obvious answer would be when they are ready but you likely are looking for a date, right? The first Duesey should be this fall. It will be the Rollston Torpedo Convertible Victoria and unsupercharged. Releases beyond that I don't know.
  22. Those are just bare resin tires. I use that chassis to show people what they get with my conversion kit. The Revell slicks are too small and front tires are too tall so I include the resin tires in every kit I sell. It really enhances the look. They are the same size as the So Real tires that were out several years ago. I also include the new style injector in each kit along with a prop bar to hold the body up. I can't believe that Revell never saw fit to include that little item in the modern era kits. I shot the pearl white for the convertible top today and it looks too cool. I will be shooting Alclad on the Bumpers and windshield frame by the weekend. Will post more pics then.
  23. I am impressed! Thanks for sharing.
  24. This one needs a Dodge Avenger Funny car kit because it uses the windshield from it. Decals will include windshield "extensions" so it will look like a wraparound windshield, headlights, grille, and a back window decal. It will have markings for it's name " Cad-attack!" and Golden Cadillac V emblems.
