  1. Like I said on, ON THE WORKBENCH, THIS IS A GREAT BUILD!
  2. John This is an out of sight, GREAT CHOPPER! I love everything about. You did Great work on the Build, and the paint is so out standing there just is no way to discribe how truly great it LOOKS!
  3. This is the present state of my work area. The Model kits in the pictures are my presnt projects, I keep all of the non body,and/or chassis parts in ziplocks in the kit boxes, the bodies, and chassis are stored it the plastic drawer cases under the table, seting on sheets of glass to keep them straight! No matter how much I try to keep the area neat, it ends up with parts and tools where they shouldn't be. I also have a hardwood work bench with my anvil, and steel plate, plus my Jigsaw, and mitre saw. My present projects are: 1930s A model Gow Job, with a hopped up 4 Banger. Late 30s 32 Ford Roadster with a hopped up 21 stud Flathead. Late 60s 32 Ford Roadster Street Rod I needed a change. Traditional Chopped T Coupe, with a Nailhead.
  4. Wraith Welcome to the Group, you will find some great new friends and some like me that you already know! MERRY CHRISTMASS!
  5. Flea Markets, Thrift Stores, Swap Meets, and Yard Sales, are great places to find great Deals. I have found hard to get model kits for a $1. , and sometimes for as little as 25 cents at yard sales! MERRY CHRISTMASS! tom
  6. I Spent all of my money that was not needed to pay bills, on Buying Gifts for My Family. All of the Stores had big sales going! MERRY CHRISTMASS! CHEERS! Tom
  7. To my wife's dismay, besides Model Cars, I build Military Vehicles, Military figures, Wargamming figures and vehicles, Aircraft, HO Model Railroads, HOn3 logging and mountain, Slot Cars both 1/32 scale and 1/24 scale. I have My own 1/32 scale race track, and I race 1/24 scale at Slot Car Raceway and Hobbies, here in Jax. My Hobbies, and My Wife are what has kept me going for the last 42 years!
  8. I have been Promoting Donn's Video on painting for over a year, telling all people that are new to airbrush painting that they should order Donn's DVD. His DVD on Building show quality Model Cars is also a great deal, for any Model Car Builder. I use the same method mixing 2 parts enamel to 1 part WalMart Lacquer thinner and it not only gives quicker drying, the paint also polishes out better, giving a very high quality finish!
  9. I will buy a few C300s as I have always like the car. I bought a C300 from a Doctor in my home town in 1969 that only had 31000 miles on it, for $250. It was a Great car with a Strong Hemi, that was a very smooth and reliable Driver, that was both comfortable and it had power everything, a Factory Airconditioner, that after I got recharged worked reliably for the Three years I owned the car. It was painted Chrysler Regal Gold and white. I will try to build a model of that car when I get my hands on one of these Kits. I bought the real one because my wife of less than a month fell in love with it when she saw it. I was going to teach her to drive it, but now 42 years later she still hasn't learned to drive. The Model will be for her once I get it built!
  10. I just recieved Issue 162, and it is a Great issue with an extensive build article on the Hudson Hornet. It covers everthing from getting three different Factory coulor combos for both the exterior, and the interior correct, to detailing the Engine, Engine bay, and Chassis correct based on Hudson Repair Manuals, this will save people a lot of research time. It showcases builds from three Modeler who have been on the inside during the planning of the kit. There iare other great articles in this issue including a Hemi Hydro Boat build by Tim Boyd. There is a build article on the Tamiya Jaguar XJ 220 by Sergey Torkhov, that includes lights. Resin Ferrari 275P kit from Renaissance in 1/43 scale. This will build in to a very nice Roadside Model, but it takes a lot of clean up work. This is another excellant issue! CHEERS! Tom
  11. I Still Use Testers Enamels thinned with Cheap Lacqre thinner from WalMart, for shinny finishes, but I also use a lot of PlastKote Primers, and DupliColor paints. PPG Paints Made for sale in California is water based so I also use it. When I use Acrylics I use a lot of Floquil and Valejo AirBrush paint. I also use Createx Acrylic paint for finishes. For detail paint I use a lot of Craft Paints. I chose my paint based on the finish I am working for. I'm afraid I don't think much about the Cost, because the paint job is the thing that most people judge you models by, and with all the work I do on the majority of my builds(some I have well over a year invested in building), I don't want the paint job to be less than the best I can possibly Do!
  12. I like to play some Blues, or Classic R&B, when I'm working on my cars!
  13. Highway You just may have topped my Garage Sell Find of about a year ago when I got 23 kits for $2. each. I had to buy all of the kits the woman had to get the ones I really wanted. I still feel like I got a great deal even though three of the kits were very simple easy builder kits, and one of the kits was the awful Lindberg 67 442 kit. For that matter after looking at what you got, I know you beat what I got by several miles! I just picked up a new six foot table to replace the old desk I have been using for over 20 yr.s as a work table it has been trying to fall apart for the last year! CHEERS! Tom
  14. I'm part of a Military Family, going back several centuries. My Great,Great, Great, Great Grand Father was a Cavalry Brigade Comander in The Austrian/Holy Roman Empire Army. His son Commanded a Husaur Regiment in The Prussian Army in The Wars against The French Republic/Empire Lead By Napoleon, His son was a Cavalry Colonel in The Union Army, and his son my Grandfather who Raised me Served for 47 Years in the U.S. Army. He Fought in the Philopines against Islamic Tribesmen, then served at Fort Hood Fighting Mexican Bandits, where he met my Grandmother. My Grand Father had lost his first wife to fever, and My GrandMother had lost her first Husband and two Children to the same Fever outbreak. At that time My Grandfather had just made Captain. He was a Lt. Colonel when he went to Europe With the American Expedistionary Force in 1917. During the War he was promoted to Sargeant Major General, but when the war ended he was reduced in Rank to Brigadier, He was again promoted to Lt. General during WWII, but again at the end of the War He was reduced in Rank To Brigadier. He retired in 1947, after serving in both World Wars and taking part in over twenty Campaigns, He had been decorated for Valour by six Countries winning every award except the Medal Of Honour. I had 5 Uncles who served in WWII, and two lost their lives, and a third was badly wounded in Korea, and lost his right arm. I served 3 Tours in Veitnam, and I was wounded 4 times, and now I have to use an electric wheel chair to get around, plus I lost most of the use of my right hand, and the hearing in my right ear. If I was back in the sixties again I would do the same thing and serve my country. The worst thing isn't the physical injuries, it is the memory of the young kids I lost over there. I only ask that my country will finally honour the service of those young men and all of the others who served and are now serving! Let No one be Left Behind! Tom
  15. Anyone living in the Jacksonville area? I'm originally from NC, But I have benn living in Jacksonville, Fla. for 33 years now! I lived here before this time for 12 years, between those times I lived In Virginia! CHEERS! Tom
  16. I agree Get Donn Yost's DVD to learn how to get a great gloss finish on you Models. For Weathering buy Virgil's( Dr Cranky's) Ratz, Rodz, and Rust Book. They both use plain easy to understand language, and they both make the experience enjoyable! CHEERS! Tom
  17. If the PE parts are on a tree, you should stick the whole tree down on some blue Painters tape so that the part doesn't go flying when you cut it from the sprue. Then lay the Parts down on your cutting board with the tape between the parts and the board, and gently cut the parts from the tree, with a fresh sharp #11 Blade. For larger PE parts use a set of thin bladed spure cutters, make sure the cutting edges of the cutter have no nicks in them and that they are sharp. Zuron makes a set of sprue cutters that are made for working with PE. Some PE Parts come mounted on a sticky surface, and not attached to a sprue. These you just slide a Knife blade under and gently lift the part off, being careful not to bend it or drop it. On larger PE parts I like to use slow drying super glue. For Emblems I use Gloss enamel when fixing them to Gloss painted surfaces, and DullKote on matte finished areas, Semi Gloss on Semi Gloss. Testers clear Parts Cement will sometimes lose it's hold on PE after a year or two, so I don't recommend it for PE. Any painting or polishing of PE Parts is easier while it is still attached to it's holder. CHEERS! Tom

  23. I went to the Wall But I couldn't Read the Names, it was just too painful for me. Tom
  24. I can't forget, I still see the faces of the Guys I lost in Nam! I was only 21 and responsible for my 12 man team and the team of an Army Lt. that I was ordered to baby set. I lost 22 of those kids on a hill that had to be held to keep the NVA from seting up artillery on it. There were only 244 men total to stop 30,000 NVA, only 51 men came down off that hill, but we held it for 48 days. They said we caused the NVA thousands of casualties. Well that has never helped, I'm still haunted by those 22 faces, and I always will be. The News said we lost the Battle, but when it was over the VC nolonger existed, and the NVA had lost over 2/3rds of it's troops. We came home to people calling us murderers and worse. I pray that the men serving today will be treated like the patriots they are and that the Country will Honour Them as they deserve to be for their Service to their Country and Democracy! No Man Left Behind! Tom
  25. Those are very useful sites! CHEERS! Tom
