Building the Moebius 1955 Chrysler C300
Tom Setzer replied to Len Carsner's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Great Revue of a great kit! I have'n been able to get this kit yet, but I will be buying one! I also want the Tim Flock car when I can get them, but for now my health and finances will not allow it. I hate being house bound and unable to even get to my work area! -
Digging up Bones ...
Tom Setzer replied to camaroman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have every issue of Model Car Magazine, and I often find Ideas in those old issues. I also check out old Threads on the Form, looking for inspiration, So I'm Glad That Harry made his statement that Threads do not exspire! -
I know I don't need one, but buying the new issue will help curb my temptation to builld my first issue kit.

Chris, I am going through a bad time myself, But Your Story Gives Me Hope. THANK YOU FOR SHARRING IT AND ALL MY BEST WISHES GO OUT TO YOU! I WILL REMEMBER YOU IN MY PRAYERS! -
I Have several in progress at the moment, but I have had to put them all on hold due to falling and breaking my hip in march and then fracturing my thigh bone just as I was getting on my feet causing it to all have to be done over. I was working on building a correct 69 Yenko 427 Nova SC (Lethal) for the Revell/ Gearz Contest starting with the COPO kit. 69 NOVA Street machine, using The totally wrong Revell NOVA SS YENKO. Two 1930s Gow Job Roadsters Total Kit Bashes. 25 T Chopped to Coupe, Using the AMT Double kit, a lot of modifing, Kit Bashing, and after market parts. It was inspired by Bad News built by the Choppers Hot Rod Cub on TV. A Traditional Hotrod!

Another newbie!
Tom Setzer replied to Mackvision's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Welcome Mark ! I would advise you to start of with some of the easier kits and concentrate on achieving clean well painted build. Pick a model with simple chrome and practice bare metal foil on it. I would also recomend Donn Yost's Fine DVDs, he Advertises on this site. -

Seeker You are right about the problem with todays youth! My son and I built model Cars, and raced Slot Cars together, from the time he was eight years old, and we had a great time doing it. He now works as a Website Developer, and when he isn't at work he live on online Games and Social Sites. He has wrecked his health because he barely ever leaves his apartment. Erik lives on frozen dinners and take out, and he has gone from a Tall Muscular person to one that is severelly over weight. I also have two daughters that live on the Web and Video Games. All of their real world friends keep asking about them, and when I try to tell them their freinds would like to see them, they all say all of their real friends are on the Web. I don't know what to do about it as they are now adults. I have talked to a lot of people that say their children are acting the same way. We live in Fla where there are a lot of storms, and if our web conection is enterupted me one Daughter acts like the world has come to an end!

Tom Setzer replied to Mad Slammer's topic in Model Cars
I keep saying I'm going to build a model OOB, but I always end up Modifing it. I lke the look of your model, The Filled Roof and paint colour makes look great! -
The reason that you see so many subjects from the Pre 70s is the fact that the cars from the thirties through the late 60s are the cars the majority of Modelers want to build! From 73 to the nineties the Automotive manufacturers were producing very bland and under powered cars. There were only the sports cars, mostly from Europe that were being built with style and decent proformance, with the only exceptions being the Buick GN, and GNX. There are very good kits available for most of the Sports Cars, and the GN/GNX. Starting in the Nineties GM, and Ford started building new models that had some style and proformance, and after awhile Chrysler followed. Problem is that most of the Sedans look like each other. There are some very good Drag, NASCAR, Indy, and IPMS Racers for the Seventies and Eighties available. I believe that the main problem actualy comes from the Video Game fixation the younger people have. They would rather set and play Video Games than putting the effort into creating something. We need to get the younger people to see how rewarding creating a model car can be!

I have been doing Photography, and Photo develeping for over fifty years, and still shoot and develope My own film. I enjoy doing special effects on my images with an airbrush, but I am only a hobbiest. I have admired your work Harry for many years, and I really liked your airbrush Artistry. People don't realize the amount of talent it takes to do the work you do!

If you are trying to teach yourself to draw, you should make sure you keep at it, because you can do mechanical Drawing better than the best student I had, even after a year of daily classes. You could make it your profession. The Super Seven is a really great drafting for someone that says they are trying to "Teach themself to Draw", You owe it to yourself to get professional training in a good Drafting school!

I'm ussualy one of the first to receive it, but I haven't yet. It should get here today,or tomorrow. I'm looking forward to it, as I'm unable to do any building for awhile, and I will miss all of the shows I normally attend!
