  1. I was born in Feb. 1947, and grew-up in the 50's and early 60's. I discovered Hot Rod,Rod and Customs, plus the other car Magazines in 1954 and I have been a Gearhead ever since then! I just love Hot Rods, and Street Rods! My Grandfather got me started model building, and taught me how to build models, from the time I was six years old. My Grandfather painted Military Figures and built Military Vehicles of all kinds, he also, built all kinds of ship models from ancient war galley to WWII War Ships in both wood and plastics. He taught me how to use tools, Hand paint, and use an airbrush. How to clean up models, including how to remove flash and mold marks from plastic and metal models, to always test fit parts before putting any glue on them. I cut lawns and did anything I could to earn money, including delivering News Papers and always deposited atleast 80% in my savings account! I managed to save over $5,000.00 by the time I was 14years old! I started working after school in My Uncles Speed Shop when I was 12 years old for minimum wage plus training in how to work on cars, and do work installing speed parts, and making modifications to make them faster, including the right way to build Flat Heads, and all kinds of other engines, Transmissions, rear ends, and chassis and suspensions. I also learned some body work. He worked me very hard but it was well worth it! I found a still running A Model that only had surface rust, that belonged to an old guy that could nolonger renew his drivers liscense and bought it for $25.00, after over two, almost three years and a little over $400.00, I had My first Hot Rod, it was still only primered with black primer, and it was upholstered with surplus Army Blankits, but it was fast and I loved it. I have had a lot of Hot Rods, and other Fast Cars since then, but in my heart I will always remember that first Hot Rod!

  6. That is one wild Studebaker!
  7. These gaps are a problem with most kits that have opening doors. All you can do is to carefully fill the gaps! There are a few things you will have to take care with on this kit and this also goes for the Fleetline: First you need to test fit evrything as there are a few places where you will need to do some reshaping the the paarts to get them to fit properly. Second is the fact you have to be very careful shaping and fitting the Photoetched parts, as they are easily damaged. Third you must check the parts carefully for some hard to see flash, that can cause problem later in the build.
  8. Beautifull Nova Street Machine. Great Colour Choices, Great Engine Detailing, and Chassis Detailing! But it isn't a Yenko!!! Donn only built 39 69 Nova Yenko,s and every one of them had BENCH SEAT and were striped down bare bones cars with only one purpose, To Go as fast as they could on a Drag Strip. I own the forth car, and is still the only car I ever owned that SCARED ME!!!! They gained the Nick Name LETHAL, be cause they killed 23 of their drivers, so Donn stopped building them!!
  9. There is a thread on the Forum about how everyone can always learn something! Well your build has taught me a whole new technique!
  10. NICE, THAT IS A WILD VAN!
  11. Nice Work Shop, it reminds me of my Father's work shop. I would sit and watch him repair T.V.s and radios for hours, when I was a kid! I wih I had that workshop today! You Are very Lucky to have Your Father's Work Shop !
  12. I build for my own enjoyment. Which means I might build a model straight from the box with only some engine detailing, or I might build a simple kit bash. Then turn around and build a car with a lot of modification where very little of the original kit is used. I just get an idea for a build and get the parts together and lay out a plan for the build and start building to suit myself!
  13. 1929 Ford Model A Roadster!
  14. John there is no way that we can come close to knowing how you feel! The only advice I can give you is to Ask God for the strength to go on, His help is there for the asking! My Prayers are With You and Your Family! May The Lord Bless You in Your Time Of Need!

  16. I keep learning new things, and new easier ways to do the things I already Do! I have picked up several ideas for weathering from Virgil's Work and his Book. I have also learned some easier ways of painting from Donn, and others. I have learned a lot from The People on the Forum. I hope that I have also been able to pass on some of my knowledge to others on the Forum!

  22. My wife keeps asking when are you going to finish that model! I tell her I will when it's Finished! I build to create what is in my mind, I get an idea of what I want and just start building! Sometimes I have to put a model aside for a few days and just think about it!
  23. The 302 is the only true Z28, as Z28 stands for Zora Arka Duntov 28, which was the 302 Engine. I had one of the first Z28s and the only place on the Car that said Z28 Was the plates on the Valve Covers!
