Chroming Cast wheels?
455 Rocket replied to NorthWest29's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I've used them several times and have no complaints. Just make sure your parts are clean and totally smooth before you send them. Any flaws will be seen. Here's some photos of some wheels I had plated about 10 years ago. The wheels were by Scale Resin Detailers. -
The arm out the bed cover is one of the first scenes in the movie. They guys drive up to a person at a bus stop and place the arm back under the bed and take off. By the way, you can still rent this movie through Blockbuster.

Ray, as of Feb '07 they are still advertising in Scale Auto. No web site though.

3000toys.com has a lot of 1/24 and 1/25 construction equipment. Bobcats included. You can also get diecasts from the Bobcat web site. -
Peterbilt 351

Dave, that really turned out nice. I like the color. -
Here's my next project, a Chevy Bison. As you can see no sleeper with and Effer crane. I will be mounting a winch from KFS on the frame behind the crane. The rubber tires and resin wheels are from Mo'Luminum. I will be sending the wheels to the chrome plater. The cab will be painted a light metalic blue. The trailer will be an AMT low boy cut down to two axles. If anyone has a spare set of decals for the crane can you let me know. I got this one off e-bay and they were missing. Possibly some could scan their's and e-mail the file.

I wish my rush jobs looked that nice. I love the wethering.

Nice car. My dad a a turquiose one just like it in the late 60's early 70's. The only thing I hated was no A/C.
-
The first two are 64 Cutlasses. The second is a 66 (?) Buick. The last is a 64(?) Merc. I have a model of the 64 Cutlass hardtop. I found it on e-bay for $30 about a year ago. In fact, the one I bought was used as the master for a resin bodied 442, but I never found out which resin caster built it. I'm in the process of restoring my real 64 Cutlass. The plan is to build a replica of my real car.

If you want a diecast, Spec cast makes a 1/25th scale F-250 and F-350 single wheel or dually trucks. I just got an F-350 dually from 3000toys.com for about $30.

New Backhoe
455 Rocket replied to 455 Rocket's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I'm working on a Revell construction trailer for this tractor. I haven't decided with one of my trucks to use for it. Probably the Pete 377 minus the sleeper. I plan to detail the back hoe a little and try to hide the rivets that connect all the joints. I'm also working on a Chevy Bison, minus the sleeper, but I'm adding a Italeri crane to the back of the truck. It will contect to an AMT low bed for my John Deer backhoe. -
Build, collect, or both????
455 Rocket replied to Mike's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have 80 built models with about another 40 to build. I have been out of the build seen for about 11 years. During that time, I collected kits and aftermarket parts for car and trucks I'd like to build. One day I'll get to them all. -
I just received this yesterday. I know it's a diecast, but I thought some of you may like this for a load on your trailers. It's a 1/25th scale JCB tractor from Joal. I got it from 3000toys.com for about $100. I little pricey, but I want something more modern than my AMT John Deer.

After an eleven year lay off, I finally finished this last week. It's pretty much box stock, except I added the tool box from my Can Do wrecker and added the custom exhaust. I didn't like the vertical stacks, so I turned them down and added aluminum tubing for the tips.

Conspicuity Tape/decals
455 Rocket replied to 455 Rocket's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I've seen the tape on STS's web site. Is it a water slide decal or a sticker? -
Conspicuity Tape/decals
455 Rocket posted a topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I'm looking to add some more detail to my trucks and trailers. I wanted to know which brand or brands of decal/tape look the best and are some easier to install than others. For those that aren't sure what I'm refering to, it is the red and white reflector tape on the sides and back of trailers. -
The start of something big. March 4/07
455 Rocket replied to Mr. Can Am Garage's topic in WIP: Dioramas
John, I also bought this kit when it came out and have been buying parts and tools for it ever since. One of these days, I'll get caught up on enough of my models and get to it. I had the same idea of adding extra bays, but I think I'll do 3 so I can get all my "stuff" in there. I look forward to seeing your progress. -
Looks great! How about a white top with either a bright yellow or turquoise bottom?
-
Paul, if I recall correctly, when Chevy introduced their 5 cylinder engine for the Colorado trucks it built a modified 51-54 Pick up with this engine. It was red and had 17" Corvette wheels. They deleted the running boards and made some other modifications that really improved the look of the truck. It may have been in Hot Rod or some other car mag. Maybe this is what your'e looking for. If I find the site I'll list it.

Very nice. Which '57 kit did you use?

Here's a diecast I made of my patrol car. Sorry for the photo size I'm trying to adjust it.
