  1. I have this diecast for trade. It's 1/25 scale by First Gear. It's got a small block Chevy with 3 dueces and a Ford 9".
  2. Here's a suggestion, get some plastic tube and slide a piece of solid brass or aluminum tube inside, then bend it to the shape you need. I've done this with exhaust pipes, but not on something this large. You could also try to just add some heat to the plastic tube with a hair dryer and make the bends. Just make sure you don't kink it.
  3. Ray, the rebuild looks great. Keep up the great work.
  4. Based on the look of most the the cabs that have been built out of police cars, I don't know if I would polish the paint on your model. Most look pretty rough and have plenty of over spray. In an old issue of Scale Auto there was a recommendation to just use some flat clear on the kit headlights to knock the the shine.
  5. Looks awesome. I only wish I had the real thing!
  6. I have s few of the late model Ford F-250/350's. Spec Cast's is probably 1/25 scale. Matchbox modeled one a few years ago the was mislabeled as 1/18th scale. It actually, 1/24th scale. The Matchbox I have only seen as a dually 4x4. Spec Cast I've scene as a single or dual wheel rig. Check out 3000toys.com. They tend to have a good selection. If I recall, my silver pick up used to Texaco logos all over it, but I removed them with fingernail polish remover. Here's some comparison shots.
  7. Bill I don't need the kit, I have at least 40 to build plus numerous re-builders. Thanks for the offer though. I remember building this kit as a kid (when it was new). I recall the rear tires were wrinkle walls which turned me off then, but I don't recall what engine is in it.
  8. These are actually Tim Powers' Scale Resin Detailers (no longer in business) wheels. I got 3 sets 10+ years ago and had them chrome plated. I just wanted to know if Norm's looked similar as these are the best I've ever seen and I'd like to get some more.
  9. The Monagram Cop Out model has a siren horn like this.
  10. Do the wheels from Miniatures of Maryland look similar to these?
  11. Nice build Tim. I really like your weathering job.
  12. Yes it's BMF on the cab and steps. I still need to paint black around the windows and doors. Thanks for the comments.
  13. Here's my 2001 GMC Sierra HD2500. It's got an 8.1 liter (496 ci) with an Allison 5 speed auto. All options and I've added exhaust, a K&N air box and a computer chip. It tows my 30 ft travel trailer like it not there. Here's my project, a '64 Cutlass. It doesn't look like much yet. I've replaced the trunk floor, installed a 12 bolt posi with oversized drums, new trailing arms and sway bar. Plans this summer are to remove the 330 V-8 and start rebuilting the front suspension and add larger disc brakes. Yes that is a 455 on the stand that will be rebuilt one day. I'm shooting for the 500 hp range.
  14. Building has been going slow due to working a lot of overtime and I started building the trailer for this rig. I decided not to chrome my wheels. I was looking at my Can Do wrecker wheels that are chrome and thought it would look unrealistic. I used Duplicolor "Chrome" paint. Althought the pics don't show it, they look polished. For the trailer, I decided to cut it down to two axles. We don't have too many 3 axle trailers in California. It scales out to about 34'. I have some balsa wood I'm using to replace the plastic wood deck. I will BMF the steel deck plates.
  15. I like the color combination. I just got one of these trucks in trade and plan to build it very similar to yours. In regard to the Duplicolor Chrome paint, I just used it today on some resin wheels and it turned out really nice. I wanted that polished aluminum look. Make sure if you use Dulpicolor on plastic to use a good primer or it will etch the plastic.
  16. I always loved these Caddie's. Here's a link to a friend of mine's website. He's been building Kustoms for years. Maybe it will give you guys some ideas. http://www.johndagostinokustomkars.com/showcars.htm
  17. The only reason I mentioned the 17" is that they don't look ghetto on this particular year. The original 14"ers look way too small. Over the summer I saw a guy that had 17's on his 67 442 and they filled the wheel wells quite nicely. He did not have some rubber band tires; they were some large 50's or 60's series tires. I know if I put these on my 64 I'm building it would look terrible as the wheel wheels are a lot smaller than on the 66-67 models.
  18. When I first saw that blob of putty between the two cabs I never thought to would look like this! Fantastic work.
  19. I can't wait to see this done! I think I'd make it a mild custom. A 455 and some 17" wheels! Looks great!
  20. MRC used to make a tire and wheel set with 15" Crager S/S rims. Also, I have early issues of AMT's '65 El Camino and Chevelle wagon that have these rims. It's been over 25 years since I built them, but I would assume they came with both kits.
  21. I had never seen anything like this except for IH's used for the railroad or fire departments. I was leaving the Oakland Airport today and saw a 3 axle cab over Kenworth crew cab! It was really odd to see a second front door were the sleeper would be. It was set up with a flatbed and a crane mounted at the rear and extended forward over the cab. I wish I had a camera with me so I could have posted a photo. Unusual, I must say.
  22. 3000toys.com has them for sale ($29.95). It includes a 1/43 scale IH 4300 delivery truck though. I have seen the Fords on e-bay, but I don't recall what they went for. FYI 3000 toys says the Ford's been discontinued.
  23. Usually stock cars don't do much for me, but this is one of the best I've seen! Maybe it's because it's from an era when you could actually tell the cars apart.
