Chris, this truck looks great! I can't wait to see it done. It reminds me of the Louisiana Pacific lumber trucks I used to see when I was going to college in Northern California 20 years ago.
Tim, I'm guessing your photo of the T & T truck is from when you lived out here in California. You'll be happy to know, they still have the same paint scheme, but with more polished aluminum and some updated lettering.
Yes, I build 40 of these for people at my work to replicate our patrol cars. Testors also modeled Classic Metal works kits. I thought I heard someone is bringing these back to production.
I'd say 10 years back someone offered a Mooneyes Caprice wagon in resin which had these wheels, but i don't recall what company. Maybe this will jog someone's memory.
00 Ranger, the plates were made using the Testor's Decal Maker CD. It's pretty limited though. You have to spray the decals to "set" them. Just don't use too much, they'll bleed. This program won't let you add other images unless you up grade for another $10. I didn't. I used my computer to scan a friend's business logo they use on their trucks and then printed it out on the Testor's decal paper.
I added the Effer Crane, tires and wheels from Mo' Luminum, new stacks and cut the trailer down to 2 axles. The bed floor is real wood. It's also my first attempt at my own decals for the company logo and plates.
