1972 J. Flintstone El Camino
455 Rocket replied to Alienwordz's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
You could probably add a small piece of red sprue from another kit to fill the space between the 68 lens and the 72 bucket. You can also get them from the Modelhaus. They have them for the 69 EC $2.50. -

With regards to the tail lights, they are different. Look at the black 68 in the picture. You'll see small pieces of trim that connect the tail lights to the bed trim. The 69-72's don't have this. GM added reflectors to the rear and widened the tail light bucket to accomodate them. On a 1/25th scale model you may not notice the difference, but on the 1:1 you do. The front fenders on 70-72 Chevelles and EC's are different. The Chevelles have a body line in the middle. Craig -
If I recall, the AMT kit is based off the F-350 bed. The wheels wells on these trucks were moved backwards so the truck could use the tow truck frame. The rear ends were narrower than the F-250's; that's why most of the time you see these trucks with wide steel wheels in the rear with 33x 12.50 tires. Based on the fact that the rear weels are located more to the rear, maybe this is the same distance as the short bed. You'd only have to cut the front of the bed to make it look correctly.

Absolutely beautiful. Love to see more of your work.

Paul thanks for the tour down memory lane. A high school friend and his dad were Olds fanatics. They had three of these, two hard top wagons and a convertible. All with the J-2 option.

I think this is the old Revell Monroe Mustang if I'm not mistaken.

I'd second that! Add a Flat head and plain jane steel wheels.

Tim, I think this is your best build yet! Great job. -
I was 6, but I remember everything in this dio. I'd have to say it tops Skip's. When you blow up the photos, you even notice the guy's plaid coat. Very nice job!

Welcome to the board. I think you're one of a half dozen of us in Northern California. I love your quote. The other one you could add to this is, "It's not my fault your life is ruined!" I've been in law enforcement 18 years and it never fails, I get at least 1-2 of these a year. -
Interesting idea; I'm not sure about the EC bed. Maybe a 59 Cadi or something similar to Greased Lightning.

Chris, the truck keeps looking better and better. I noticed on the rear plate of your truck is a current style of California plate. If you're looking for a period correct plate, click on the link. This black plate would be more appropiate for this year of truck. Also, California only requires a plate on the front of big trucks, they don't need them on the rear. The reg tags are placed on the front plate so it more visible when they run through the scales. Here's how California Commercial plates are set up if you print your own: 60'- early 70's Black plate Yellow letters: 25872G (5 numbers then 1 letter) 70's - 80's Blue plate Yellow letters: 1A12345 (1 number, 1 Letter, 5 numbers) 90's - Current White reflective, Blue letters, Red California: 4Y78329 (same format as previous series) Darrly's Plate Restoration -
WOW! Bill Geary you have some competition.

Is Wally Bouncing back.....
455 Rocket replied to Len Geisler's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I went to Wally about a month ago and found no models or paint. I was disappointed as Michael's is the last place around here that has them. I'll have to go back and check. -
TruckModeler.com website changes

Tim, I just wanted to say thanks for all of your hard work over the years; unfortunately I was out of the hobby for many of it. Your models and your web site, though, are what gave me the inspiration to get back in the hobby after a 10-11 year layoff. Dan, boy are you going to be busy!! I looked at the site this morning and it looks great! Thank you both for taking time to show off and promote our hobby. -
87-93 mustang LX coupe/Hatch
455 Rocket replied to white00gt's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Rick, like this? I got this one at least 10 years ago and started in it. I'm glad I never finished it though. Art Anderson did a great job on it, but there were a few things that needed to be changed to make it an 87-93 model. The resin body was based off an 84 carborated model. I cut out the original engine bay and added the one from the 92 kit. I also never did like the fact that it had the 84 side trim on it. Now that my skills have greatly improved, when ever I get back to this model I will remove the 84 trim and add the 92 from the kit. I'll just have to be carefull with the door area as CHP deleted the door trim. Good luck on your search. -

Is the weather affecting your work?
455 Rocket replied to Phil Patterson's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Well I hate to burst everyone's bubble, but here in California, I'm having no troubles. I paint in my garage and due to the nice weather here in the SF Bay Area, things dry quickly with no fogging problems. About the only months I can't paint are November and Decemeber due to fog. -
I'd go with the Fujimi's. Nice start.

Jeryd, When you're looking at your photo bucket photos, you will see 4 boxes below each one. Click on the one that says IMG code. It will say "Copied" with a yellow box. Then go back to your post at the board and paste it using the edit tab on the browser or right click the mouse and scroll to paste and paste it. The new forum board automatically re-sizes the photos now. Here's a photo I posted from your photobucket: Good luck and happy posting! -

Pete 359 Auto Rack Restoration
455 Rocket replied to rottin1's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Hopefully you refering to a post on the Pete as my trailer is just about done. I was just going to hold out until I got the truck done to post photos. I could start a tread on the truck though since I've only glued the basic frame. I'll make you feel good about the price you paid. I purchased my Black Magic Pete and Revell Car Carrier between 1984 and 1986. I paid $110 for them back them. That's what happens when you're young and stupid. I'm glad I've waited 23 years to build my kit!
