  1. side by side with standard and widened.
  2. getting close............. tires moved out,,,just have to widen the seats now.
  3. thanks for the comments,,,you want more,,,it is... I added small strips to each side of the frame instead of dicing it.....i added longer axles and will just move the wheels out 1/8" on each side....I have not done a lot to the frame
  4. I am torn on making this bone stock,,,,,,,,or going all out with a corvette (55) grill and packard tail lights....I am missing a lot of chrome so would need a chrome tree to make it stock................(hint hint)
  5. I got to thinking................what would have the 57 chevy looked like if GM went to the wide bodies in 57 instead of 59.............I have a perfect victim for this project. A glue bomb that needed so much I was willing to cut it up,,,,,we have sectioned, channeled, stretchered, and chopped this one....now to stretch it side to side and add 8 inches to the width of this car....first pictures show before the cutting torch attacked the body.
  6. you can get some real serious rubber in the back and not narrow the rear end
  7. the body is done now,,time to finish the chassis and interior....All the builds I am doing now will be simple since I want to highlight the body mods..
  8. Thanks for the comments....here is a colour check,, Long ways to go yet but getting there................will post some build picture prior to primer later on.
  9. I am sending this on the freakshow to finish off..........
  10. Thanks for all the comments,,,,,Brett, you are right,,,even the 1;1 had a short bed,,,,more od a grocery getter than anything.
  11. you make doctor cranky proud
  12. Four months ago I took trip to Detroit to meet with an older gentleman that used to work for Pontiac to talk about some cars he had stashed away. Looking over the cars I noticed a strange looking truck in the back. I asked about it and he told me the story behind it. Late in 1963 Pontiac was looking for a new project to compete with Chevy and wanted to one up them. There was a lot of discussion that went on for weeks about what they could do. He suggested that they go head to head with the El Camino. In a bit of whimsy he thought that the Le Mans would be perfect for this since all the tooling for the vehicle was done for the 1964 model year and they could have a prototype ready for the spring car shows. One of the other engineers said why don't we go one step further and do a muscle truck based on the GTO line. That set things in motion and the design department put together a working prototype of the GTO truck to be called the "Palomino". there was no other interesting names in the works at that time. They knew Ford had the Panther in the works so they went ahead with the Palomino. In January of 1964 Ford announced the Mustang aka Panther and the design team then scratched the entire project and sent the Palomino to the car grave yard of unknown models. The truck in the back was the only one ever made and he was willing to part with it now after 50 some years of rotting in his garage. I got it out and put it on a trailer and brought it home to start the task of restoration. Basically is was in better shape than I first thought and all that was needed was a paint job. After four months I now reveal to the world the Palomino in Primer yet waiting to paint this unique truck a deep metallic burgundy that will make it stand out. I am also searching for a good rear bumper for this since somewhere along the line it got taken off and was missing from the truck when I brought it home. So with out further ado I present "THE PALOMINO"
  13. it would be interesting to see what you would do with it,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,PM addy
  14. probably..............................not sure
  15. Now that I have the method right lets go through the entire process. For this time I have a Dodge charger that we are going to put on weight gain program and beef the body up. The pictures will show the process but will comment also. step one: I slit the tops of each fender the length of the fender. step two: I opened the fender up and using a hair dryer on hot very carefully relieved the pressure to the fenders. I inserted a pencil to open them up. be very careful not to over heat the plastic. Step three: cut out slivers of plastic to the shape of the new opening and put in place. this is a lot easier said than done and takes some patience. glue in place and set aside for the day. Step four: sand the tops out and use filler as needed. Dont over do the filler . Step five: prime and sand step six..........you now have a muscle car with some real muscle.
  16. colour check...sand paint sand clear,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
