  1. Uncle Bill invited me out to the farm this week for a visit. I have not been out there for a long time. Bill is 89 and lives alone and still drives, after a fashion. Not the safest. We had some lunch and he took me out to the barn, Bill is kinda the family historian and has cars the family has bought going back into the 1920's. Some are no more than shells. Mind you, Bill is a little eccentric and missing a few marbles but does pretty good on his own. In the corner of the barn covered in an inch of dust was this monster of a car. Dirty blue but totally intack. We went over and it was this huge Buick like one I have never seen before. Bill got it from his dad that bought it new in 1936. Bill said it was a special order since he came from of family of 9 they needed a big car. I opened the door and got in. This monster had a sedan body and canvas roof. Bill slyly asked if I wanted to take her out to see how it runs, I could not pass this up. He got in the drivers seen and fired it up the tappets clanked and the clutch wiened a little. He shifted it into gear and the old 6 speed truck tanny moved slowly forward growleing in the granny low. He steered it out of the barn and was telling me it was the only car of its kind in the world, It had 3 rows of seats and a covertable top on a sedan body..totaly wierd. He got it when his dad passed away about 40 years ago and had the seats redone by a local saddle maker with saddle leather..............I told you Bill was a little strange , didn't I..........Anyway, more on uncle Bill and the brewster later............... Hopefully I can convey the strangness of this monster. Kenn

  4. Thank you Derrick,,,I hope there is enough there to get the comstruction across. I tend sometimes to rush things and miss some details that if added would be nicer in the final product. Kenn
  5. This is the final dry fit prior to glue up. few little issues that are there but just minor fitting on the right fender, will go under glass Sunday thanks for all those following this longgggggggggggggg build and sticking with it. Kenn
  6. I sent the body back to the paint shop yesterday to get a repaint. Came back looking decent,,,, The interior is almost done, windows going in and the side panels should be in tonight. Thanks to all those watching and keeping up on this build. It should be complete in the next day or so. Kenn

  11. super charger.....loose fit not plumbed yet. Nice to have you undated.......................tahnks to all for looking. Kenn
  12. Thank you,,,,,the improvement is inevitable as I learn to do more and learn more of what the plastic can and will do. Getting more profiecent is what the hobby is about, without learning new skills or new techniques we can not improve, we need to push the envelope with each build whether it is scratch building or kit building. If we don't strive to do better each time we just end up glueing and painting the same way each time. Again ,,,thanks to all those that watch and comment. The comments also lead to improvement. Kenn
  13. Bob,,,I have always loved the T series but never ended up with one Thanks for posting it, The roof is an interesting one for sure, Drive train got done. Since I did not have all the information a few things might not be to exacting, but I look at it this way, Go with what you have and only 2 people will notice it is not exact.....you and the obnoxious rivir counter,,,,, I could have gotten better information by more research like I did on the Saloon.
  14. just a little to share today on this,,,,lot pf puttering on it but still in the paint shop....interior work. Kenn Note: posted section one to the community challenge, making wheels.
  15. worked a little on this today. got the seats done, chrome back on a few pieces and generator ,belt done, I tryed out using plastic for the belt on this and am ok with it, Thanks to those that are watching and commenting Kenn Note: posted section one to the community challenge, making wheels.
  16. Section 1....wheels We will start with the treads since that is the hardest part of the construction, we will scrib the lines before we cut it into strips. This strip will be about 3/8" wide with scrib lines about 1/16" apart all parallel then cut the strip. (See photo). You will need a total of 3 strip like this 9" long. Then cut 3 more strips 9" long the same width 3/8". You will also need 6 strips 9" long 5/16" wide. Take the wider strips and cut to fit tight inside the tape dispenser plastic, do not glue. cut a second of the wider strips to fit tight inside the first and glue them together using liquid cement, you have to do this quickly since the glue drys fast. Make sure the sides are lined up even. Then take the blank 3/8" and cut to fiit inside this centered side to side, gluing it in place, then clamp and set aside until the glue is dry. After they have set up cut the scribed strip to go around the outside centered side to side and carefully cut the ends to meet squarely. Clamp and set aside to dry. You need a total of 5 tires for this project. You can do as many as you want if you have enough clamps and tape spools. I have 1 so I did one at a time. If you have any questions or I did not explain enough let me know and I will try to clearify in more detail. I will wait a few days at least before we do the wire inserts,.have fun and take your time. Each wheel is about 20 minutes without time for glue to dry. Kenn
  17. The body is about done and the motor wired about done also. Added louvers to the hood also, Kenn
  18. Thanks for the comments, I hope you keep watching for the finish this week. Spent this morning on the motor....now 99% rewired it and added fan belt out of masking tape.(4 layers) Have the little sruff at the upholstry shop and the final things at the chrome shop...........they will be back tomorrow and installed Thursday. Kenn
  19. I will start the build today with the tires, I will be posting all the steps later today. You will be needing some liquid plastic cement, .40 or similar plastic 9"x10" roughly, one tape dispenser empty spool and exacto knife, and some sandpaper,(400 to 600 wet or dry). This should be about 2 hour section but I will give you several days Kenn
  20. Thanks to you all for the comments. The louvers I cut in plastic are done with an exacto knife at about 75 degrees and sliced into the plastic freehand. Complete scratch built cars...I have 5 underconstruction that I have lost interest in that I started after the Tatra, Tha was the first attempt I made at total scratchbuilding a car. The second, if I do actually finish it which I will this week, will be my second completed. That one is the 1936 MG SA Saloon on my other thread. Again thank you for the comments. Kenn
  21. very interesting.....................
  22. hand cut louver preliminary test............................yes of no...all comment accepted....do they look presentable or are they trash............... Thank you for your imput. Note that this is a test and done free hand, Kenn
  23. Thank you both for the comments......Skip...I will take some time to do just that,,,,, Tom....you are very right,,,the thing is just because of the subject matter they have no interest and therefor there is nothing to learn. The whole process is looking at others work to see what things you can gleen from them to apply to your own model building. I choose scratch build because I enjoy it more than kits. I get very frustrated with them and find the beautifully done kits a great talent and learn from the process they use. I hope that those that watch what I do, at times even amazing me, can learn a little something they can apply to building their favorite rides, whether straight from the box or masterful rebuilds. I have noted that the muscle cars are the most common on here and the most talked about. I do watch them and pick things up or just enjoy seeing how they develope. Nuff of this..................thanks all to those that follow my builds and to those that comment. They are all appreciated. Kenn
