tires and wires....................................................tires are made of the 3/8" strips glued together. I have revised how I lace the wires....first I went to a 5" 20 peg lacing board and then I finished all the parts better before lacing. The rediction of wire leads to a more stunning lace job as youcan see in the comparison. This is the final product. As you can see it is far superior to previous lacings....I am sure as time goes on They will get even better. Thanks for watching and comments are always welcome,,,,,good or critial suggestions for improvement. Kenn

Axels have been placed glued and dimensions checkd and varified with the drawings and photos. Chassis squared....3/8"x9" strips cut to make the wheels....... Kenn

from a planet far far away comes another edition of the Bentley chassis......assembled so far on a simple rotisuree (sp). Thank you for the comments and watching.................... Kenn

The theme for Twilight Zone plays in the backgorund. Scene: the cutting table on Mars hidden away.. Action: Madly drawing out cutting sheets and plugging them into the plasma cutter. for the cross members on the chassis. Aside note: center to be cut to fit when others are in place. Light fades to dark and scene closes> Kenn

I have a tutorial on the wire wheels in the community build (1933 MG K3 challenge) or see the same in the 1936 MG SA Saloon build previously posted. I will also be going over it again in the scratching the surface 1936 Bentley thread in about a week. Thank you for the questions,,,they are appreciated. There is now a colour coat on the body. Kenn

axels and springs....The front axel is bent on a jig with.80 rod. rear axel is built up with .80 rod inside 3/16 tube and a 7/16 pumpkin.axels are run wild for now. Springs are made up with 5/32 flat .20 plastic and cut to length and glued up using the template for the frame. next we will set the springs in place and set the width, install axels setting the frame height. Thanks for following along..............................comments are always welcome. Kenn

I have not yet,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,everything is scratch built.....................................

The frame rails are rather straight forward, gluing the template to the plasctic and cutting it out. I need the frame 3 pieces thick for each side so I cut and glue and cut and glue,,,then tack to the plastic a forth time and repeat cutting and gluing so that I have 6 thicknesses divided buy a tacked center (3 each side). then sand even, drill 2 holes and seperate. We will determine the distence apart next time...... I also want to start thinking ahead a little at this time to get plumbing areas....as we see it is all along the dirvers side on the frame.(the right side). Since I am considering using a lot of fiber optics in this car I will use the fiber optic cable as brake lines and fuel lines, with the battery in the fuel tank. I need to leave a space for all of this clear along the side. We will explore this next time also to see how it works out. Kenn

We have a bunch of photos of the car...so what. Now how do we go from photos to building a car in scale with all the details and chassis and wheels and motor and,,,,,and,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, First,,,I print off a good clear side drawing of the car as I posted in the previous post. I measure the distance center to center on the wheels. This car has a wheelbase of about 117" depending on the builder and actural car. Since they were all hand made, and each was different it is a challenge. I made my drawing 6 1/4" center to center....about 1/20th scale, the same as the MG saloon.....I also found a decentt picture of the frame(chassis) from a decent angle but it was not perfect....for this it is good enough to produce a set of chassis drawings to work from that are the same scale as the photo. With the chassis photo on the computer and the colour rendering for reference I traced the outline and centers of the wheels on a seperate page and then roughed out a resonable chassis drawing in scale that I can work from. I willmake copies to build from and save the rigional to a file. (Hardcopy) This is what I end up with to work from. Next is the frame construction. I like the photo I have since it shows a lot of details that we can use in the model. Kenn

I am going to be starting another saloon car from 1936. This time it is going to be a Bentley. I will be taking it from start to finish, naturally, and am anticipating about a 2 month build on this one. I will be doing some new things, new methods, and incorrperating working steering, and if someone has 3-D drawings of the engine for this and a 3-D printer they can make me a working engine, (in my dreams). I will also be incorrperating additional information on other builds as I go along as they relate to the construction of this car. I will also be making modifications to the car that are not on the origional as shown below but are common to the 1936 Bentley. So, sit back and follow along and comment along the way whether good or bad.....critical suggestions are the way to good models since I can miss things or always make them better when incorrect areas are brought to light. I am still in need of good chassis drawings and engine information on this. Kenn

Thanks for commenting,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,it is nice to knwo someone is watching............. Back on the Q while paint is drying.....please note I posted section 4,,,the chassis on the challenge for the K3. I have the hood done and louvered now on this one...... Need to strt roughing out the interior now.................. Kenn

Section 4 Start with some .40 plastic and layout the paper copy of the chassis on one edge. Carefully cut out one rail piece. Using this as a guide glue it to the plastic and cut around it, 2 times, until you have 3 pieces glued together. l piece. Using this as a guide glue it to the plastic and cut around it, 2 times, until you have 3 pieces glued together. Then spot glue to the plastic and do anoother 3 pieces glued together. Now you have a stack of 6 frame rails in groups of 3. File them smooth on the cut edges so that they are smooth and finished. Drill 3 holes (.80) through all 6 pieces. and seperate into 2 rails 3 pieces thick. Using cut .80 rod you can now assemble the rough frame. At each end file with round file for .80 rod at the front and back.let all the rods run wild at this time as they will be cut to length later. The cleaner you do this section the better since it will save time later,,One trick is to let everthing overnight set up prior to filing smooth. This section should take a total of 45 minutes actual work time. If you have any questions on this or previous section please let me know so I can clearify any problems at this time. Next time we will do the front and rear axels and rough cut the firewall.... I have a nice jig for the front axel that will make it square and even. Kenn

Getting to the interior on this one today.....not sure about it. I made it swoopy and austeir (sp). Did do a ceiling liner for this one, nothing complicated thinking is that is offsets the busy motor. Thanks for looking....................... Kenn .

I guess it all comes down to biting the bullet and getting what you need.I am not sure what a kit is anymore but I am sure they are at least $20..for anything. The first kit I bought was $1.98,,,,,,,tells how old I am for sure....................... . I used to have a big model railroad and engines were $100 on up. It all boils down to getting what you need to produce what you want. I spent over $100 this weekend on things but I know I will not need anything for a while..enuff plastic for about 20 cars or more.........and glue for a few weeks of fun. If you look at it that wat there is really little cost to this hobby unless you get a lot of after market thigns for your builds. :PStill, one sheet of plastic that you can build about 10 cars with for the price of one kit...................well This is how I look at the cost of the materials anyway. I just went to order....they have really uped their shipping since the last I order in august...................................sheesh
-
I always have them ship UPS...it is only a few dollars.......the USPS is too expensive......there should be that option when you check out but you have to select that option i think. I am going to be ordering also this next week..... I picked up some evergreen sheets today,,,,one pack should build this model if you want to go that way.

I believe the motorama cars...namingly the corvette sudo clones like this and onther had the "fabulous" Chevy auto 6's whuch were notoriously under powered for the early Corvettes...When I was in high school I could have gotten one of these(54Vette) in peices for a whole $400.00. Thought it was over priced so I bought a 55 Olds convertable for $20,,,and drove it home. Kenn
