Looks really good so far. this is the only Roth model I have never even attempted to build.

Next thing to be addressed is the interior. I don't know what were the guys at Fujimi thinking, but the door panels are basically missing their upper half To address the issue, I made templates from paper and then cut the shapes out of styrene. Then attached the new pieces to the interior, so we now have some three dimensional door panels Ferraris always have a door pull on the passenger door. For the purpose I cut a piece of solder and flattened it with the handle of my exacto knife, to give it an oval profile. then the panel was drilled and a little notch was made, where the piece was glued in. Now we have some decent interior, which with some detail painting, decals and photo etch should come alive. Meanwhile, the body is a nice even flat white. It will be curing until tomorrow, when it will receive its pearl white paint.

Actually my plan is to paint them black together with the fenders and then mask them off, so no clear coat builds up there, which can create potential fitment issues later.

Thank you guys. The body was already sprayed with grey primer and sanded. It is about to receive its white base.

This is going to be another LaFerrari build. There have been quite few of them on here, so I am not going to bore you with what comes in the Tamiya box or with the statistics of the real thing. First I am addressing the engine. After all it is the heart of any Ferrari. I start with gluing together any pieces I can before painting. Tamiya has left a lot to be desired. However, they are very good at giving you clues where some detail can be added, which is why I love them Let the drilling begin…… Besides all the holes, some details had to be added from styrene. The oil reservoir needs to be plumbed too Some color and wires added and some electrical hardware made. So far I have drilled over 60 holes.

OK, so the parts I was expecting just showed up yesterday. I got the Hobby design photo etched pieces and the wheels we want to use on the model from eightyOne. The tires that come with the wheels are absolutely useless for this build. They are way too thin and all four of them are the same width. Meanwhile I drilled all the "rivet holes" on the fenders in preparation for paint. They were too shallow and I am affraid that after primer, sanding, base coat, carbon fiber decals and clear coat, they would have disappeared if I left them the way they were. Also I cut out the molded in grilles at the back, which I am going to replace with photo etched ones. This is all the engine from the kit, which is disappointing. The Revell kit is tenfold better, except for the wheels/tires, which are really well done on the Fujimi. I glued the photoetched scripts on the intake plenum, so I could spray everything in red. Thanks for looking and stay tuned.

Not a fan of the interior by a long shot, but love the exterior color. The red finish on the heads looks great, but the black part needs to be shiny as it is carbon fiber on the 1:1. Greatly interested in the finished product. i love the Grigio Medio, but it can make or break a car. Great job so far.

Thanks guys. I had a blast building it.
-
Nice build. This is one of my all time favorite kits.
-
Super cool and very cleanly built.
-
Just a heads-up for everyone. The wheels that come with the kit are nothing like any on the pictures on here. Also the kit (81) comes with horrible tires that are absolutely useless. I already ordered different wheels for the build and I am looking at some Aoshima tires for them. Altho, I believe that what is found on the Tamiya F40/Mythos kits and in any of the Fujimi's Koenig Specials kits, would be the best looking tire combo for this build.

Not color wise. The wheels are going to be black and the entire fender flares are going to be carbon fiber. I guess at the end there may be more black looking parts on the car than white.
-
I dig it. Where did the drum brakes come from?
-
Hahaha…I see now. That's a good one.

Amazing work so far. I love watching WIPs like this.

This is really awesome. Some people ask where the hobby is going and that there is no new blood in it. Well, it is up to us to pass it on to the next generation builders. I do same thing with my kids and love it when I see another parent taking the time to build a model with their kid. And I would also like to congratulate the little Batman for a job well done. That's one good looking Batmobile.
-
Very well done. I just don't understand why did you paint the whole engine hood black?
-
Great work. I love the wheels you chose.
-
That's the look we are going for. Just a little less decals.
-
This is really great. If you don't mind me asking, where can I get one of these kits and what do they go for?
-
I guess I am not edumacated enough to make any sense of that comment…...

Thank you guys for all the great comments.

Thanks again guys for all the great comments

NO. It will be white with carbon fiber fender flares and spoilers.

There are few magazines that I buy pretty much every issue of. Street Rodder, Forza, Rodder's Journal, Model Cars and yes, that other magazine……And I don't subscribe to any of them. First of all there is some sort of mazochistic pleasure in going to the store looking for your magazine and finding out they don't have it and then going again a week later, 'till you get it. Then I think that altho it costs more this way, buying it from a small brick and mortar store is doing a good deed to your community. My local book store "the Book Train" carries all the magazines I care about except Model Cars. This store is very nice part of my neighborhood and I like having it two blocks from home. And if everyone just subscribes to their favorite magazines, they will most likely go out of business. My measly three magazines a month may not be much, but I like to think that I make a difference, as small it may be.
