The Yugo was, in fact, in production on its original platform until 2008, with slightly facelifted design features and some limited electronics updates, but essentially remained the same mechanical and engineering turd it had always been. My family owned several back in the early 90’s and they were truly horrible cars from the get-go, comically underpowered and wonky, very uncomfortable and notoriously unreliable, especially in wintertime. It was the “people’s car” throughout the former Yugoslavia, however, and therefore immensely popular, mostly due to low cost and ready availability. They are a rare sight on the roads here in Croatia today, but plenty are still running in Serbia, Bosnia and other non EU former Yugoslav countries. As for its supposed revival, despite fancy drawings that have recently been published, considering the state of the politics and economy in Serbia nowadays, as well as the fact that the Zastava motor vehicle factory, which manufactured the Yugo, has been defunct since filing for bankruptcy in 2017, thus finally ceasing production of Zastava badged cars based on the Fiat Punto, I believe this is unlikely to come to fruition any time soon.

Got the same kit in the stash, so nice to see yours coming along for some future inspiration.

Senna tv series
PowerPlant replied to stitchdup's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Saw it recently, I was a bit concerned about production value, but once you get through the first couple episodes, as Senna advances into F1, it becomes obvious the producers did their job quite well. The cars, pit areas and racing sequences, combined with some real footage, I suspect, look quite convincing. I also liked performances from actors who played Alain Prost and Niki Lauda. If you have watched the excellent documentary about Senna, you will not learn anything new about his life and career from this series, but overall definitely worth a watch. -
Still available. I am open to offers. Thanks!

The kit is missing the convertible boot (part pictured), otherwise unstarted and complete. I value the kit around 60 usd, and would consider trade offers of equally scarce/interesting subject matter i.e. Tamiya Volvo 850 Turbo Estate, Mercedes 600 SEL AMG, or Aoshima Mercedes SL65 AMG Black Series, Fujimi EM series kits etc… Also, please be aware I am in Europe. Let me know if interested. Thanks! Matija

In need of the convertible boot only. I am in Europe, but willing to compensate for the part and shipping costs or trade. Thanks in advance! Matija

After the grille and excellent wheels for this kit, guys from Ukraine just keep nailing it! https://www.facebook.com/share/p/z2nV1aa67ypFPkY2/?mibextid=K35XfP

Nice pair in the end!

Not a fan of the car at all, tbh, but your build itself and photos are out of this world. Every photo would be a tough “real or model” challenge.

What do you drive?
PowerPlant replied to gasman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks! It’s a late 2015 Skoda Octavia VRS, originally a Czech brand now in the VAG group. The chassis, power and drivetrain are essentially VW Golf. The VRS cars (stands for victory rally sport) are top range offerings. Mine is a 184 horsepower 2 litre TDI six speed manual. There is also a slightly more powerful petrol version (basically the Golf GTI), and they also come with DSG shifters. -

Got a new ride recently so I figured I’d bump this topic. Not sure how popular/common these are in the US, but it’s a nice car to drive. -
Apparently he suffered a cardiac arrest whilst in the pool/hot tub, and official cause of death is consequently drowning.

I’ve seen more than a fair share of similar ebay ads in the US. A small jo-han part, for example, like a taillight, for a reasonable 4-5 dollars apiece, but shipping to europe between 50 and 60 dollars. For a taillight which fits in an envelope? One of the main reasons I quit ebay. It has become ridiculous.

Traded some cool Euro rebuilders with Jeff Kessler (ncbuckeye67), and I couldn’t be more satisfied! Thanks again, Jeff, would trade again in a heartbeat!

Magnus Walker “277” Porsche 911
PowerPlant replied to PowerPlant's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
So, do the Fujimi kits have the correct wheelbase for the Magnus Walker car? -

Thanks for the kind offer, but I don’t think pics will be necessary. I do have the 73 Carrera RS, and it seems that’s what I’ll be going with. Scale Production of Germany has the decklid, sideview mirrors, wheels and decals for the Magnus Walker car, and I’m pretty sure I can source racing seats that will be close enough, and improvise/scratchbuild the rollbar. -

Thanks for the info! I’m sure I can figure out the rollbar and seats close enough. Ugh, I needed another project idea like a rusty nail in the forehead, but oh well… on to search for another 73 Carrera RS ? -

Is there anything else aside from the engine cover, sideview mirrors, and wheels that would need to be changed for the Magnus Walker car? -

I guess this would be it: https://www.scaleproduction.de/product_info.php?info=p2376_911--outlaw--engine-cover.html They also sell the decals, so that’s convenient! -

So, the 73 Carrera RS would be a good donor? -

PowerPlant replied to PowerPlant's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yeah, I have the 73 Carrera RS, and I guess that would indeed be the best starting point. It would require reworking the rear end, however, and finding mirrors to match the 277. The problem is, the 73 RS is probably my favorite Porsche ever, and I really want to build the boxart car, or a green spec one. I might just have to get another one for the Magnus Walker car ? -
Having recently discovered Magnus Walker and his Porsches, after purchasing the Hot Wheels model of his best known car, the 1971 Porsche 911, aka the 277, I got an urge to build the said car in 1/24. That said, I found the decals and wheels to replicate the car, but I am not certain a 1/24 kit of the Porsche in question exists. I’m thinking Fujimi, but not sure… Any pointers regarding which kit is best to replicate the 277 Magnus Walker Porsche would be greatly appreciated! https://stanceworks.com/2014/09/some-cars-go-and-others-stay-magnus-walkers-1971-porsche-911-277/

I could not agree more! There are, fortunately, a lot of cars I’m not into, far from having to collect them all. I’d like to bag the 73 Porsche Carrera RS and that’s about it for this year’s run as far as I’m concerned. The Merc, if I gathered correctly, since I’m completely new to Hot Wheels (not counting hurling them down stairs as a kid ?), is a new edition. There is also a silver one, apparently, but this is the only one I could find. Definitely my favorite, along with the Magnus Walker Porsche ?
