The Official EBay Discussion Thread

I didn’t get charged for insertion, and difference is almost 50 percent, give or take… and that is completely unreasonable, especially considering all the grief they’ve been giving me with verifying my bank info over and over again, before releasing my earnings. And now also wanting backup account info (which I do not have) “just in case”. In case of what?? Ridiculous! Way to drive users away. -

I just calculated, I sold my last item for 180 usd plus 30 usd shipping, so 210 usd total, and ebay issued me a payout of 165 usd, so they took 45 dollars total… not quite 25 percent, but if my math works well it’s 21.5 percent approx… still way too much, so now I don’t understand how come they charged you “only” 12.55 percent? Makes no sense. Either way, it’s pure thievery, and I don’t recall it being so expensive. Not using it ever again, I’ll stick with facebook groups. Who needs useless middlemen such as ebay anyway? ? -

I use paypal, but ebay will no longer deposit funds into my paypal because they are not working with them anymore (?) it is still possible to make purchases via paypal, however, so I really don’t get it. Either way, in order to release funds for my sold items, they requested all sorts of private bank info. I did finally get the money after much back and forth, but they now also want credit card info for “future purposes”, whatever that means, and even if I was willing to give it, I do not own a credit card ? they could not have made it more complicated, and it used to be quite user friendly. Way to mess up a decent concept! So bye bye ebay as far as I am concerned. -

That is exactly what I thought. I sent the bank statement, which I already felt was major intrusion of my privacy. And then they wanted info for a credit card on top of that, so they could “charge an alternate source” in case there is no money on my verified bank account when I make a purchase (?) And all of that for a “mere” 25 percent commission on my sold items, including shipping costs. Yes, they take commission on shipping. Unbelievable! Daytime robbery if I’ve ever seen one! -

I’m pretty much done with ebay. Firstly their commission for sales is completely insane at around 25 percent (shipping costs included, which is ridiculous), and since they stopped working with PayPal their payouts for my sold items were a nightmare and took forever. They requested private bank statements and whatnot before they would release my money, and now they also want me to have a backup account uploaded. How many bank accounts/credit cards does one have? Terrible service and manipulation with one’s earnings, but hey, at least it’s expensive ? Never again. -

The latest (2013) issue of Revell’s GTO (car turned to right on boxart) has correct decals for Nick Mason’s car as it appears in the video. The only thing lacking is the front license plate, but that can be obtained from elsewhere or made. Previous Revell issues (car turned to left on boxart) do not include these decals, although the instructions do mention his car (as delivered in 1977 - the car has changed livery since). I have the earlier issue of the GTO, sans decals for this version of the car, and the Italeri Daytona Competizione. I may have to source some decals and build these two beauties. Does anyone make the decals for the Daytona?

There are indeed SS badges (decals) in ROG boxed Chevy kits I've come across, and I certainly have seen SS badged 1/1 cars with German plates. That said, a German friend of mine has purchased some Tamiya military kits (tanks) from a legitimate hobby shop in Berlin some years ago, without any decals, apparently because of issues regarding Nazi markings, particularly the swastika. So, Nazi markings as such are kind of a grey area when it comes to scale models in Germany, I guess, although Revell military kits do have them, as far as I am aware (at least kits available in Croatia). Go figure! Either way, I do believe SS badges on Revell Chevies are quite safe for now.

Imagine what would happen if you started using the "poke" function! -
That’s only about 5 bucks more than I paid for it, so not too bad I guess ?

Just picked this up from the post office. Bit the bullet and got it via ebay from Germany, after inquiring in hobby shops in Belgium and Austria, which claimed they could not even order it directly from Revell. Strange things are going on with this kit, but now I finally have it ?

And the academy award for best soundtrack goes to…

BMW, apparently, since Hollywood heavyweight Hans Zimmer composed the engine sound of their latest electric M models in order to be perfectly “emotionally engaging” for the driver. Yea, you read that correctly. A musician composed the sound of a car ? On a side note, the cars are also ugly beyond words, sad to say they were designed by a fellow Croatian. But at least they’re gonna be expensive. Oh well, not gonna be buying that then ? https://www.press.bmwgroup.com/global/article/detail/T0331949EN/bmw-m-gmbh-and-hans-zimmer-co-develop-the-emotionally-engaging-driving-sound-for-electrified-bmw-m-models?language=en -

By invitation of Bugatti-Rimac CEO Mate Rimac, the club will be in Croatia for the following three days. Highlights, as far as I am concerned are two Neveras, Pagani Imola (1 of 5), Pagani Huayra R (1 of 30), Koenigsegg Agera X (1 of 7 driven by Christian Koenigsegg personally), Bugatti Chiron PUR Sport (1 of 20), Bugatti Divo (1 of 40), Lamborghini Veneno Roadster (1 of 7), and last but nowhere near least, the legendary Ferrari F-40… None costing less than a million euros, driving around in rush-hour traffic like they are your everyday grocery getters. Here are a couple of videos of them arriving in Zagreb city centre, so not too much engine sounds but some really nice cars there ? IMG_9226.MOV IMG_9227.MOV

2021 IPMS Nationals Kit Information

Finally, a DuVall windscreen frame for the 32 Ford! Looking forward to that one. Kinda silly they have Vin Diesel/Dom Toretto on the box, rather than Paul Walker, for "Brian's" pickup... Oh well, hopefully it will have the "Racer's Edge" decal included to replicate the movie ride correctly. Curious about the Porsches, also... I wasn't aware of a new tool. It is nice to see Revell re-do this legendary car, because their previous offering was quite bad, and it deserves being done justice. Good times ahead! -

How can this thing be registered and legally driven on the road? Last time I checked, something hanging off a rearview mirror is not allowed in the US. -
I saw him on stage some 20 years ago in London, playing Big Daddy in "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof". Great actor! RIP
