  1. That sounds like Jeremy Clarkson, when he's talking about American cars. -MJS
  2. I got a J-Bot order in about a month. Not a problem, I think it even mentioned slow Canada Post on the website. -MJS
  3. Wish you could have been at the local model swap meet a few weeks ago, there were a few at $10 - $15 each. -MJS
  4. Here are two possibilities: http://www.ebay.com/...=item1c209dea81 http://www.ebay.com/...=item25692325ef Cheap so far, have to see where they go. -MJS
  5. Chuck, it's not so much the size of the wheel wells, which are about right, but that Revell shortened the MK VII body and wheel base to work on the T-Bird pro street chassis. Note the extra space between the door and rear wheel well. I've always liked the MK VII LSC, and I've thought about doing one for a long time now. But two kits would be best to lengthen the wheel base and the body in the trunk area. -MJS
  6. Sure thing, Tony. Modelhaus should be able to fix you up. -MJS
  7. Well, it is a VAG product. -MJS
  8. I'll crush it first. If I had a five for every time someone said "You should make that a Bluesmobile", I'd have that new flat screen TV. Or at least a toaster oven. -MJS
  9. Thanks Chuck, that's another mystery solved. And what were they thinking with that front spoiler? -MJS
  10. Show me the kit, and it's a done deal. Using a B body Monaco would be kinda lame. -MJS
  11. Here is an MPC '76 Cobra II kit that I bought from ebay as a built up about 5-6 years ago. It was built by a woman who sold her built kits there at the time, but hasn't in years. It's done as a fictitious GT-350H, because she worked for Hertz in those years, and she wondered what one would look like. She told me that the employees then used a common term, "Screw Avis", hence the license plates. She didn't remember where the wheels came from, but I've seen them before somewhere. EXP kit? And she put a Cleveland in it in place of the kit's 2.8 V6. I didn't do much to it, just polished the paint, straightened a few things out, and added a set of resin mirrors from Replicas and Miniatures of Maryland. Since the pics were taken, I touched up the silver trim. -MJS
  12. Like this one? AMT Parklane Marauder friction promo. -MJS
  13. I worked at a HobbyTown in the early '90s, and we had a few of those over 2-3 years. Not a big seller, but when the right customer walked in and saw it, he had to have it. One customer built one and R/C'd it, and built a really cool tow rig for it using a Tamiya Clod Buster body (mid '80s Chevy pickup, 1:10 scale) converted to a dually with hand made fenders, a custom 2wd chassis, aluminum wheels, and scratch built boat trailer. It was top notch, BIG, and caused a real stir in the parking lot at speed. -MJS
  14. I think it is the center lighted section, slotted and painted body color. Kind of inventive. -MJS
  15. Not many 10 second cars do. He's a serviceman, drives all day, and his favored cars for that are late '90 Honda Civic wagons with five speed transmissions - never break down and get 40 mpg. -MJS
  16. Thanks everyone, this is pretty much what I thought. -MJS
  17. The truck in the museum has a 440. It weighs over 7,000 lbs, so a 318 wouldn't be real happy in there. A bigger carburetor and dual snorkel air cleaner were fitted to it later. -MJS
  18. Recently, I came across a want ad on craigslist from a guy who was looking for one of these kits. He said he remembered it from a hobby shop in Minnesota in the early '80s, almost bought it, and never saw another one. I've never seen or heard of this kit. I asked him if he maybe saw an Entex 1:20 '79 Mustang kit, but he said definitely MPC and larger than 1:20. Has anyone heard of this kit, or have a picture of the box? -MJS
  19. Harlan, My experience with Volares is a wee bit different than yours. A good friend of mine built this '77 coupe, formerly a 225 slant six grandma car, currently Edelbrock headed 484ci stroker 440, 727 Torqueflite, 3:91 8-3/4, Super Pack spoiler, original color repaint, widened steelies, and your favorite dog dish hubcaps. Those may not have been cool back in the day, but they are very popular on muscle cars now. You don't need snow to get it sideways, and it will boil the hides at anything up to 80 mph. I'd love to do a model of this car. As for the Scirocco, I've always liked the Mk1 body style, penned by none other than Giorgetto Giugiaro, and they are popular now as tasteful street machines with 1.8T swaps, trick suspension, and modern wheel and tire packages. I think the kit would be a good seller. -MJS
  20. Not all Biante's fault, almost every new diecast model car in the world is made in China, so who could foresee it. -MJS
  21. Renwall/Revell 1:12 '65 Mustang. What a thrill that was. -MJS
  22. 3.8 T Bird Super Coupe blower? Looks fun, if a little twitchy under boost. I'm pretty sure there were Taurus resin wagon bodies back in the day. -MJS
  23. MPC '76 Volare Road Runner. The thing goes over a Franklin almost every time on ebay. JoHan '64 Caddy Deville convertible, because I want one. AMT '69 Torino convertible/hardtop AMT 1965 Falcon Sprint HT MPC Force 440 Monaco coupe squad AMT Volkswagen Scirocco -MJS
  24. Absolutely, Doctor. If I had to do this for a living, it would drive me funny in minutes. -MJS
  25. I think they did use Mopars as the Goon cars, but they were weird Brazilian Darts or Valiants or something. -MJS
