  1. Uhhhh, a 426, the ONLY hemi you could GET in one?????
  2. LoLo, I LIKESES it!!! The paint, the FLAMES, every thing flows REAL nice! Finish that bad boy up so's we can see the end result!
  3. Gotta hand it to ya Nige, THAT came out BEEEUTYFULLL! I LIKESES IT!!!
  4. Wow, so really this IS kinda inconclusive. If you go thru the trouble of applying EITHER one, a Clear overcoat is just gonna PROTECT a DULLED finish. I guess it'd just be better to send it out to be chromed!
  5. I honestly feel (Imho) that Juha is THE premier scratch builder in THE WORLD!!! I have NEVER seen anyone else create so many NON existant models from current(and OOP kits) that he has! His insite is incredible! To see so many styles in OTHER do different cars is just amazing. I really can't say enough about his genius! What body did he start with to build this 88? A 70's Impala maybe???
  6. WOW Marc, THAT IS RARE!!! The 2 ORIGINAL kits I have are BOTH YELLOW! I've never seen it in basic white! GREAT score. And Today I got the just released Airfix 1/24th scale De Havilland Mosquito Fighter Bomber! My MOST favorite aircraft of WWII. I have been in love with this aircraft since I saw the movie 633 squadron in 1963!!!! And NOW I FINALLY have it in 24th scale!!! It's BEAUTIFUL!!!!
  7. James, did Ryders go OUT of buisnass? The Taylor store became Down River Hobbies, The Canton store closed at least 8 years ago, and I've never been to the main store in Ann Arbor. Was there a Jackson store too?? Yeesh I gotta feelin there tryin ta put the local hobby shops outta buisness with the big, larger craft stores !
  8. Tom, NICE build. Ya do know AMT actually popped that same kit in THAT SAME COLOR? Looks like ya just polished that rascal up! I agree, the wide whites DO set it off right nicely!
  9. Yeah, i do sleep occasionally, but I am a very light sleeper, an my honey doo leaves for work at 7:30 so I'm up!
  10. Real! Or one heckava REALLY NICELY build Model!!! But I'll stay with REAL!
  11. Ed Eldo converts WERE factory built till 76. ALL Sevilles till 79 were built at my plant,an there WERE NO converts. Those were built at conversion shops. The converts were ALL discontinued in 76, so ANY Caddy convert AFTER that date are custom conversions.
  12. THANKS Jim! Turns out the the manager of our new Hobby Lobby here is an old freind!!! He used to work at Ryders, our local hobby shop!(Now DownRiver Hobby's) So I kinda got an inside on the new kits comin out! Maybe if I just ask him to put one or two away for me, I won't hafta go all over tarnation lookin for 'em!!!
  13. Your MORE than welcome Dave! To be honest with you, now that I've seen yours, I'll probably get one for myself! Ray tends to sell them a little cheaper when he comes to the toy shows here in Deeetroit, but the thing is, he doesn't always go to them, AND he doesn't always bring the exact stuff I'm lookin for! Keep us updated on your progress.
  14. Ezz dat time agin!! Monday,Monday, can't truss dat day!!! But I CAN truss Kahuna Harry ta beez there wiff a Brandy new RoM!WooF, Harry, I'z holdin 'em back Kahuna, they'ze READY ta go, an so am ME! Wat it gom beez like Harry??? RoM???!!!! WooF!!!!
  15. The thickness of the body overpowers the height of the roof.I don't think the mixing of the scales was a good idea.
  16. Ed I learned how to Bronze solder on Sevilles at the Fleetwood plant here in Detroit. If there were any built they WERE NOT built at the factory! We were the EXCLUSIVE builders of the Seville till it was transferred to New Jersey. But THEY never built Converts either. The last Convertable built in the factory was the Eldorado in 76, the year Cadillac quit buildind ALL convertables. After that they were ALL conversions by American Sunroof or other custom Conversion shops. I think there were quite a few shops that did them all around the U.S. I know that American Sunroof, located in Southgate Michigan had at least 2 other locations that did conversions.
  17. Dave, as a frequent purchaser of resin kits, and at LEAST a DOZEN kits by R&R resins(of which THAT particular kit is) I've learned a thing or two about them. First, Ray does SO MANY kits that he does take short cuts in makeing his molds. Like for instance, Look at the AMOUNT of resin used in molding the firewall/cowl area . Thats an EXCESIVE amount. Look at a Modelhaus, Motor City Resins, Missing Link or P&P resin works body. That same area is usually cast as a SEPERATE peice. That area alone probably weighs a half an oz. Thats ALOT in resin terms. Look along the rocker areas of the kit, I'd guess it'll have holes where bubbles were popped and left them. Then theres the clean up of edges which ALL R&R kits have. DON'T get me wrong, They ARE buildable kits mind you.Otherwise I WOULDN'T have purchased so many of them. BUT they could be better! Ray is just a oneman operation, and if he put the time into them that other casters put into theirs, he'd probably have to charge more. I have his 72 Riv, 70 Buick GSX's(two of those, the ONLY ones available in 25th scale!) and a few more. I also have his 53 Merc, which is a MESS! ALL the things that can go wrong with a resin kit went wrong with THAT one. But like I said, He DOES have some REAL off the wall kits and for some kits, like your 88, he IS the only game in town! I Do know him personally, and still buy his kits when he has something that catches my eye, but with SO MANY different ones in his inventory, if he'd just cut back a little, or spend more time preping his molds and casting them,he could get a FAR superior product and be able to charge more for them because they'd DEFINATELY be worth it. I have no doubts you can clean this one up, (don't forget that molding seam on the seats) But with it being your FIRST resin kit, you should've gone with a better caster. But like i was sayin, for that particular kit, he IS the ONLY game in town! I have no doubt you can make a VERY nice model from it. I DIDN'T mean to scare you off. Enjoy your build, and good luck, please let us see it when it's done,as it IS a "bird of a different color"!
  18. Good Luck Brother! 32 is kinda old if you ask me! I was 19 when I enlisted in the Marine Corps an let me tell you it was NO picnic!!! And I was IN GREAT physical shape!!! It was 12 weeks of pure hell, and the ONLY thing that got me thru was the fact that I had my Dad,Older brother and 2 Brother in laws who were Marines! I don't think I could have lived with myself had I washed out! My wife was a constant source of support as were my Dad and Brother! One of my brother in laws is a Ke Sahn survivor, another was a radioman ,and I was in a rifle co. If I were to be asked if I wanted to do it again I'd tell them where to go!I spent 13 months in Viet Nam. Don't fool yourself into thinking you WON'T go into combat, caz in this day and age,you WILL!!! It WILL change you, it did me. Combat IS NOT a video game! Learn WELL or you WILL DIE! This is NOT a scare tactic , just words from expierience! Do what you feel you must, but remember this, the enemys ONLY job is to kill YOU! YOU must kill him FIRST!!!!! Good luck my brother.
  19. It does LOOK like an 88 so in reality THAT'S what counts! You'll notice theres alot of short cuts in the molding process though. But it LOOKS like it'll be a nice project to do! And your RIGHT, it IS the only 88 available! It's gonna be NICE when your done!!!
  20. The Boss is lookin Boss Juerg!!! It can only get better now! GREAT color choice for it! It'll REALLY get some attention in that LOOK AT ME color!!!!
  21. Go Dana. MUCH stronger than a Ford 9' Heavier than a Ford, but MUCH stronger.
  22. Ya know, if they fixed the waves behind the doors on that kit, it wouldn't be to bad at all. i have both an original 66 and a 67 ,and they are BOTH nice kits. It seems the reissues of the 67 were all screwed up. I haven't seen any newer ones But the older ones I have seen are wavey right behind the doors. So bad in fact that you can ALMOST see the area where they modded the molds for the old Mr.Unswitchable Funny car. Geeze, you'd think after ALL the times it's been reissued they could finally fix that! I haven't seen one lately, but with the time invested,it could be a nice build. The color on yours is REAL nice LoLo, i like that shade of gold. Hope it comes out as nice as the rest of your builds! Good Luck!
  23. Ben, ya might wanna check out Alan Raab, overt Ma's resins. He gots a bucha slicks in real nice rubber type resin. Check his website, http://public. fotki.com/cnaind/ hope this helps.
  24. Yeah, but didn't Barney carry ONE live bullet in his shirt pocket???
