Dick Brannan's 1962 Super Stock & Lightweight Galaxie's

Here is a photo of Brannan's 62 lightweight engine. Notice how the 406 decals is slightly crooked. I tried to do the same on my valve covers -
Dick Brannan's 1962 Super Stock & Lightweight Galaxie's

Here are the two 406 Super Stock engines for Brannan's 1962 Galaxies. Both are still under construction, needing wiring, belts, other accessories, etc. The 406 6V is for his dark blue Super Stock and the Dual 4bbl is for his light blue lightweight Super Stock. The 406 valve cover decals are custom done -

Here is my reworked engine compartment. Shock towers and battery removed. Not quite finished but would like to share. -
Agreed. 1960's Super Stocks are very cool. A time in history that will never be repeated.

I too like this. Sucker for them 60's factory lightweights!

Very nice lightweight. I have the MCW lightweight interior too for my model of Dick Brannan's # 823. Also I have a pair of lightweight bucket seats for my 1962 Brannan light blue lightweight Galaxie #823

Original T-Bolt's were either Vintage Burgundy or Wimbeldon White with a light champagne color interior. Other exterior colors were the result of a color change by the dealer/car owner. I believe, the original burgundy cars were white and the white cars were black. Depending on the cars livery, would dictate the color the strip was painted. For example, the original Bob Ford was gold with a black top and black strip, Gas Ronda's Poppy Red car also had a black strip, but the Courtesy Ford T-Bolt strip was red. Researching the specific car is required to be accurate. Hope this helps.

I know this car was kept by Mr. Brannan as his personal car. I would need to ask what happened to it -

The First 1965 Mustang 427 SOHC - Dick Brannan

Actually, according to Mr. Brannan, the rear axle was not reposition (or moved forward 3") on his car (Goldfinger), the first of two built by DST. The rear axle was in it's stock position. The only modification was to the rear wheel well to accept larger slicks. So if anyone is building this particular Mustang, the rear axle should be left in it's stock position. That is from the original owner who was involved with the creation of this car. -

These are MCW resin kits. The donor kit is the 1960 Starliner. I will try to make you proud Ray. The real cars were very cool, hopefully these will too -

Thanks, This was a really cool car as only two were built by DST, the red car of Brannan's and a white car retained by Ford for testing. The white car was used a template for the others that were built by Holman-Moody. Based on photos of the real car, I plan to remove the shock towers completely to replicate the real car. This will open up additional room. BTW I have two RG SOHC 427 engines. I am glad I bought both of them when the were readily available. -

Brannan's car was the very first SOHC 427 mustang for 1965 and was originally red when delivered to Brannan from DST. Then blue for a very short period of time before becoming Goldfinger. Thanks for the info on the engine compartment. -

The kit is Revell 1965 Mustang 2+2 Fastback, the hood is from Competition Resins and the engine is from Ross Gibson. Not shown is custom decals done by Decals by Lucas -
