Hey, I resemble that ya know. Dan P.S. Yeah, what he said. -
Thanks fer the kind comments guys. I had a lot of fun buildin it. This is the first model that I didn't use Testors enamels on. I used Custom Colors somethin somethin copper paint. I think it is enamel also but it had a slite different smell to it. I did use enamel. reducer to thin it with. Since I painted this I mixed the rest of the paint with other colors to see how the paint will turn out. This came in a 1 ounce jar and one of the guys in the BSAC car club gave it to me. I got in real deep doo-doo with the wife because of the smell. I had ato think fast and come up with an answer for her and I did. I spilled some of it and the smell went all over the basement and she flipped out. Almost cost me to get rid of all the models and start a new hobby. But, I calmed her down and all's well now. Phew, that was close. Dan

Thanks Thomas. I hope they re-release it also. The bumpers and tail lights were done with Alclad. The tail lights are resin copies of the original transparent red ones from the original kit. I hate the all chrome lights that they put in this kit. I wonder why AMT issued the re-releases with the all chrome ones when they had the molds for the red and chrome pieces already. Dan

Thanks guys, and Curt I have the clear hood also. Thanks for the offer. All I had in the beginning was the body. I scrounged for the other parts. I had an interior that I had to piece together and the frame came from an altered wheelbase Falcon that I had to stretch to fit the Stude. I also had to add about 1/4 inch to the bottom of the roll cage because it is made for the chopped top Stude. Zipper (Chris) sent me the body about a year ago and this is how it turned out. Thanks Chris. I really enjoyed buiding this fer sure. Dan

What a great job you did on this build Nick. I like the colors you chose for this one. You have come a long way from the first one you did. I'm 64 (almost 65) and I'm still learning stuff here and on other forums. I'm glad that you're staying with the models and getting better all the time. Great job my friend. Dan

Spoiled and Depressed
59 Impala replied to Swifster's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I like to go to the hobby shop because there you can hear the lateist and greatist jokes and the comrodery with other builders, wheather they build cars, trucks, planes and ships or are into trains. I couldn't have finished a 41 Willys (SW&C) that sat in the box for over 20 years if it wasn't for the shop. A guy came into the store and brought a big box of parts for all kinds of models and in that box was two doors and the trunk that I needed to finish the Willys. I also got the Trumpter 63 Nova coupe and convertible both for 10 bucs apiece. I also get a discount from the store. I once ordered two sets of 56 Packard tail lights and I didn't have to pay for shipping. Mike, the manager, is a great guy to talk to and has great jokes to tell ya all the time. Now, every Tuesday night we have "car" night and on Friday nights we have anything you want to build night. Both days are from about 5 PM to closing time. On Wednesday nights they have War Hammer night and guys who are into that meet there and have a lot of fun doing their thing. I know that not everyone has a place to go like this and I wish they had, but can you tell me where on the "net" can you do all this? No where. The net has it's place for everyone if you need it but I have only once bought something on the net and had to pay shipping and by that time the part cost me more that the price of one kit. That's Ok though, cause I needed the part to build my kit. So, ya see, we need both the stores and the net to build all of the fine builds on this forum and on other forums as well. So, turn Blue all you Purple knif's, as Goulardi would say You have to be from Northeast Ohio to know what that means guys. Dan -
YAY, YAY, YAY, it's 'bout time. I've been waitin all year fer this meetin. Dan

Question. Does the bug setting on the hub get dizzy before the bug setting on the outer rim when they stop spinning? -
The twelve days of Christmas
59 Impala replied to Darin Bastedo's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
You're very welcome Cole. I would like to thank Zipper for the talks we have all the time. He has helped me on some of the builds I've done. And a big thanks to Gregg for keeping this forum on line. To Donn Yost for his inspiration and to everyone else for the good times here. Dan -
Here are some of my drag cars. This SS was painted with Testors light blue and then sprayed with gold pearl (mixed in clear) over the blue and it kinda looks like a light green in some ways that the light hits it and gold in other ways, and you can still see the blue. I love those pearls. More to come. For some reason I can't post more pics in this thread. I've tried Photobucket and directly from my computer with no luck. Bummer. Dan
