  1. I like yer truck so far Marshall. I think you should paint it a Metalic Copper with a black scoop on it with black stripes. But what ever you do will be just fine my friend. Dan
  2. I'm working on a Studebaker hood now, the one that has the two holes in it for the two blowers. I don't have any pictures of that yet but here is a picture of a Datsun hood that I used the dryer sheets on. What do you think? Dan
  3. Here's another tip, use used dryer sheets instead of paper. This stuff looks like fiberglass in scale. I've used it on a couple of builds and it works great and it's free after it comes out of the dryer. Dan
  4. I've had good results by using Castrol Super Clean, aka, Purple Pond. The glass isn't affected by it. Now glue is a different story. I've had some success by sanding the glass and using Novus polishing compound to bring the clear back. Hope this helps. Dan
  5. I use Testors 1/4 oz jars of gloss black as an undercoat and have always had great results with it. Here is a 63 Impala front bumper and grill that I did using Alclad Here is the rear bumper I have done more rebuilds using Alclad in my photobucket. Dan
  6. I'd go for a model of the month as well as a diorama of the month and then a model and diorama of the year at the end of the year. It works on other forums I belong to. Just my 2 cents worth. Dan
  7. Yeah, trucks, boats and planes. Dan
  8. Yep, you're crazy, but then again, so am I and everyone else who has a stash to build from and keeps buying more to build. Dan
  9. Sorry, I fergot to insert "fat" inbetween old and dude. Dan
  10. Wait a minute here Ron, who you callin Just a bunch of balding middle aged fat guys talking model cars and stuff? I'm not middle aged any more, I'm an old dude now. I'll be there anyway, I hope. Dan
  11. Well, I have a few. Here they are: 49 Ford custom Sorry about the bad pic, I need to take some better pics of it. 49 Merc & 49 Ford 53 Ford custom 53Studebaker custom There's more in my photobucket if you like. Dan
  12. Which came first, the chicken or the egg? And what does the Chevy 348 and 409 have to do with this? They both are not Flat heads. If your buddy had a flat top hair cut all his life and you called him flat top and then suddenly grew a full head of hair would you still call him flat top? Dan
  13. Mike, where did you get the decals for the Anderson Pontiac's Tin Indian? I'm from Akron Ohio originaly and would like a set. I also remember when Anderson became Kanafel Pontiac and the Tin Indian stayed alive. Dan P.S. I like your cars.
  14. I buy my stuff at Hobbyland in Graceland Mall in Columbus Ohio. Mike, the manager is a great guy and bends over backwards to get stuff for you when you need it and he doesn't have it in stock. Plus, he's kinda funny, has a great sence of humor, as does his employees. Plus, on Friday nights we get to hang out and either shoot the breeze or build models until the store closes. Dan
  15. I also have been helped and I've helped others myself and that's one of the reasons why I love this hobby. One great big help is when you need a part or parts and someone will step up and send it/them to you and for nothing in return. Where else do you see this kind of giving of one's unselfishness and willing to help others? Not many places that's for sure. Kudos to everyone who have helped someone. Give yourself a great big hand everyone for the kindness. Dan
  16. The pressure drop is due to the air line. The longer the line the more it will drop. What you should do is pull the trigger and watch the pressure, it will drop. Then set the pressure to what you want it to be. Then release the trigger. You will see the pressure go up. What you want is the working pressure to be whatever you set it to. Example: Pressure set to 25 psi. When you pull the trigger it drops to say 18 psi. Now while the trigger is pulled set it back to 25 psi. This is your working pressure at the gun. Dan
  17. I like it so far Rob. Nice stance you got there. I think the color choices you chose will look great on it. I have an extra hood if you're interested in it. I'll trade it to you for the front and rear end pieces that you didn't use. I'm trying to get some parts together for one of the sedan delivery Studebakers. I don't have a doner and need all the parts I can get to put it together. Dan
  18. My first car was a 1954 Chevy Bel Air 4 dr sedan, 6 banger with an automatic transmission. I got it for a hundred bucks from a friend of my dad. I wanted the 1963 Impala SS with a 409, three two barrel carbs, 4 speed transmission with glass packs that the car lot had on sale for 1,095 bucks. My dad knew better than me i guess, but I still liked the 63 better. He wouldn't co-sign for it though so I had to settle for the 54. Dan
  19. Thank you Donn & Kathie for being a part of it. I was glad to see ya both at the show. I'm glad that you had a good time as well as the other vendors and contestents. We hope to have a bigger and better event next year. Dan
  20. I'm ready Brad. Got everything packed and ready to go. I'm setting here twiddling my thumbs and waiting. Dan
  21. Yep, what Mikie said. I can say "Mikie" cause I'm older than he is. A lot older by the way. Dan
  22. I'm gettin excited. I can't wait until I can spend some birthday money on somethin. Well, maybe just a little bit. Dan
  23. Great video Chris. I like that song and the way it was re-done. Yeah, we need little more modeling and a lot less grumbling. Me too, I haven't posted much lately and need to get back to it. Dan
  24. Brett, sorry it took so long to respond, but I'm not sure if it was or not. I'm not from here originaly, I'm from Akron, so I don't know what it used to be if anything else. It is very easy to get to though. When you exit I-71 on Sinclair (the Morse Rd. exit) you turn right at the light and the hotel is right there on the right. You can see it when you get off the highway to the right. I hope this helps ya or maybe someone else who is more familiar with this area will respond. Hope to see ya there. Dan
