  1. Hi guys, I'm in the process of installing the BMF on her now. I'll have some pics up as soon as I can. Dan

  3. Thanks Andre. Yeah he needs Mayco or Earl Schibe. Dan
  4. Thanks guys and Brad, I hope I can get-er-done by December. There's a lot of work to do yet, esp. the BMF and I don't look forward to doing that on this monster. Dan
  5. Ok here goes. As some of you know the Buckeye Scale Auto Club has a same build night in December. Well, this year it is the 62 Buick and my first time doing this. Well, we can build them anyway we want and here is what I'm doing to mine. Now, I originally had the rear end sagging but I've changed my mind and this is how she looks now. This is to represent what a kid would do to his daddy's Buick when dad wasn't looking. I mixed Saphire Blue with some Black and came up with this color. Now Jr. had a little accident at the track and had to go to the local junk yard and purchase some parts to fix the car and here is what he got fer his money. I need to buff out the quarter panel just a tad from the over spray. Thanks fer lookin. Dan I fergot one thing. The wheels that come in the kit are all 4 rear wheels. So, what I did was make the front wheel bearing caps and installed them on the wheels. Now they are front wheels. I also mixed the paint for the wheels. It's what I call my take on gun metal gray.
  6. Belly tank. T-38 trainer Mig 21 French Mystair P-59 Sea Fury Corsair f-111 fuel tank B-25 radio control 1/25th scale F-51 Korean war Mustang I also have a Japanese Zero, an armor piece of a German vehicle and a Cesna 172 Trainer plane for the U.S. Air Force. No pics of these though.
  7. Ron, this was the best meeting that I've been to. The comrodery and fellowship was the best. I hope everyone else had a great time also. A bunch of real good guys IMHO. I'm looking forward to next months meeting already. Dan
  8. Nice build, very nice build. I like the colors. The stance is great also. Dan
  9. Thanks for the kind comments guys. This was a fun build. Dan
  10. Looks good Ron. I like the color. Are you bringing it Thursday night? I hope so. I haven't done much to mine yet. I did a little and it's setting in the box. I'll be gettin to it now that I got the 53 Ford finished. See ya Thursday night. Dan
  11. Thanks for the kind words guys. The color is a custom mix that I did. I mixed some Testors old PLA green and some white to come up with this color. I didn't have a formula for it cause I was only going to paint this one car this color. There is no clear coat on it, just paint and I polished it with the NOVUS system. Dan
  12. Here is one more. 50 Ford truck custom Dan

  14. Thanks Beav. I had one of those 56 Fords you got in your hand in the avatar. I still have the wheels somewhere. Take care my friend, Dan
  15. Thanks Marcus. That's the look that I was trying for. Dan
  16. One of the flat fender Jeeps to make Nellybelle from the Roy Rogers TV show. With a little scratch building for the doors and some kit bashing. I made one already. Dan
  17. Thanks Ed. I remember using the lead and wax doing bodywork too. I went to a Vocational high school and took auto collision. My teacher WOULD NOT let us use bondo. He hated that stuff. Plus, that's when bondo was fairly new and didn't work to good. Anyway, I learned a lot from Mr.Coleman. He was the best teacher I ever had. This is something that I've always wanted to do even on the 1:1 cars. Dan
  18. WOW, thanks for the very kind words fellas. I've always wanted to put those Packard lights on something and when I found out that someone made them I just had to have them. The Ford was and is a good choice for them, as well as a few other cars. I wanted to capture the look of a 50's to 60's look on a custom. I really had a lot of fun building this car. I want to do another car, like the 49 Merc or maybe a 55 Chevy. Time will tell. Thanks again. It really means a lot coming from you guys. Dan
  19. I just finished this one not to long ago. I had a lot of fun building this car. I used 57 Chevy custom headlights, 53 Chevy grill, 59 Chevy steering wheel, the custom rear pan (from the 57) converted into a rear bumper that had to be narrowed a bit to fit the Ford. I had to cut it in the middle and then put it back together and mold the rest to make the bumper. I also used 56 Packard tailights. I installed I think they are Lancer hubcaps from the parts box. These had to be stripped and then I used Alclad on them, the rear bumper and tailight chrome. I also converted it to a stick shift by using a transmition from a 50 Ford and installing a clutch pedal. For the interior I used embossing powder for the carpet and back shelf instead of using flocking. The embossing powder looks much better than flocking in this scale to me anyway. I also used a piece of brown paper towel for the headliner. It works much better than tissue paper. I mixed the color by using Testors Green and White for the color. I polished it with the Novus polishing compound. There is no clear coat on it, just polished paint. Bare metal foil and that's it. I guess that I've yaked enough, so here are the pics. I hope you like it. Any comments are welcome. This is a pic of the headliner There are in progress pics in my photobucket if you'd like to see them and thanks fer lookin. Dan
  20. What everone else has said. Plus, I love how you did the exhaust. Those two glass packs look real and so does the pipes. How did you do the weathering on the exhaust? I like rusting cars also. I really like the look of this 55. Dan
  21. My prayers and thoughts go out to you and your family. May GOD Bless. Dan
  22. I had no problems building the one that I built. Everything fit perfect. I did customize mine though, but I didn't change anything that would hinder the going together of any parts. Dan
  23. What everyone else has said, plus, I'll keep you in my prayers also. I've never met you but this is a time for all the support and prayers you can get. There is a lot of power in prayer my friend. GOD Bless and here's to a speedy recovery. Dan
  24. I'll take a guess at this. Looks like either AMT or SMP. Now, I'm just guessing, but that's what it looks like to me. What a find, that's for sure. If you have an AMT kit, try and fit the chassis under it and the interior. If it fits, you'll have a very rare kit. I'd like to have one of those. Dan
  25. Dave, that happened on the 49 also. What I did was to spray a lite coat of dullcoat over everything. The only paint on the car is flat black and the coat of dullcoat. The rest is just the plastic showing. Except the hood and the chrome trim that is. I thought the same thing about the shinyness of the rust and the dullcoat took care of that. I hope this will help ya. Thanks for the kind words. Dan
