  6. Nathan I believe that it's an AMT kit. It's been so long ago I don't remember. I do remember that it was a 2 wheel drive kit and I converted it to 4 wheel drive by using the frame and drive line from the Muleskinner kit like the first truck that I posted. Dan
  7. James, the blue Datsun was built by me. It is the California Sunshine (MPC kit) custom truck and really can't be built stock. It can be built almost stock. I had a lot of work to do to get it where it is. There is no stock exhaust for it and I had to fabricate that and guess how it was ran under the truck. I need to redo the seats to get the high headrests removed. The Blue paint is just Testors little bottle enamel sprayed through an airbrush. Sorry it took so long to respond to your question. My bad. Dan
  8. I use it the same way that I use any other water slide decal. I do spray two coats of their bonder on the decal when it dries. I don't do anything special and the decal on the Chevelle is mostly black ink on the clear paper. The decal "Strip Rat" is all one decal. Maybe by using two coats of bonder makes the difference I don't know. I do let the decal set in the water until it moves on the backing paper and then instal it on the body. Again, nothing special. Hope this helps ya out. Dan
  9. Here's a couple more. A 41 Willys A 40 Ford Thanks fer lookin. Dan
  10. Nice builds so far. Here are some of mine. First a 57 Chevy 150. Next a 49 Ford. Thanks fer lookin. Dan
  11. I have had no problems using Testors decal paper. The clear or the white. Here is a picture of the 67 Chevelle that I printed the large decal on Testors paper and had no problem. I also use Testors enamels in an air brush and have no problems either. Just my 2 cents. Dan
  12. Here's some more. Datsun farm truck. Daily driver Datsun. And last but not least, Nellybelle. Dan
  13. Ok, here are some 4 bangers that I've built. First one is a Willys. This is the 4 banger that powers this beast. It's out of a Jeep from WWII. A California Sunshine Datsun. It's power house. Dan
  14. I'll second that. I really enjoy rebuilding old glue bombs. Dan
  15. Here's some of mine. Dan
  16. I had no problems building this one. I built it to look like the one I had way back in 1967. The only difference is mine had a 3 speed on the tree and a 4 barrel carb and ran like a raped ape. No power brakes or steering. I loved that car. Dan
  17. Kool build Cole. I'm really glad that you could use the cab. It was one left over from one that I customized awhile back. I combined the 50 Ford chopped top (resin) cab with a modern F-150 Ford truck and painted it a Gold color. Mine is a custom and I'm looking forward to see how yours comes out. Great start so far my friend. Dan
  18. Congratulations Cole on your trophy. Nice job. Have you done anything on the 50 Ford truck yet? I'd like to see some pictures of what you're building with it. Dan
  19. Andy, if you have a Harbour Freight store in your area you can get a copy of the badger for 15 dollars. That's what I use to paint everything. Dan
  20. I have used Alclads gloss black, which is a lacquer, but I have had better luck using Testors gloss black in the little bottles, and I did not polish the black. I just made sure it was shiny and that it was dry. I did spray it on and I use Enamel Reducer to thin Testors paints. It's better than their thinner and the paint flows smoother using reducer. I found this out by accident. Like Bill said, I really don't know how many coats you use. I spray a mist coat on and then another mist coat. If it looks good then I leave it alone. Sometimes I use another coat. Again like Bill said to many coats will make it look like aluminum and not chrome. When I spray I keep going over the part side to side and then top to bottom until it looks good to my eyes anyway, if that makes any since. Dan
  21. Thanks guys. Hugh, I used Testors gloss black on the rear bumper as well and let them both dry over night. Then I sprayed the Alclad on using about 12 pounds of air pressure with my air brush. Dan
  22. I use the small bottles of Testors all the time and have never had a problem with the Alclad. I do however thin the Testors with Enamel Reducer for 1:1 cars. It helps in the drying time. I don't use Testors thinner any more because of this drying time and the paint smoothes out better. I came across this by accident one day. I had run out of Testors thinner and needed to thin the paint and I had some enamel reducer left over from a paint job and decided to try it and I got way better results by doing so. It does help in the drying time. I was able to handle the parts in about half and hour or so. I hope this helps ya. Dan P.S. Here is a pic of a 63 Impala that I used Alclad over Testors gloss black on the front grill and bumper.
  23. Is there a class for being in a slump all year? Well, if not then I'm in all 4 of them cause I like building in all of the classes. I just have to finish something. Dan
