  1. Such a great job--that is one sharp Charger! I never liked these much until the red one in the movie Big Fish started to work on me. Your model would have had the same effect.
  2. Really nice! I'm partial to everyday cars as modeling subjects, and this one came out just right.
  3. Looks fantastic! I've always heard good things about Chrome Tech and am looking forward to sending some things their way.
  4. Imagine peering out that front end and trying to drive that thing! Even without the distraction of Playmates draped about the cabin...
  5. You didn't sell your T-bird, you just left it in the dryer too long. That thing is REAL!
  6. Hey Dan, nice job! I definitely think yours would take mine in the quarter mile. Lot of attitude in that little guy.
  7. Gorgeous, gorgeous paint and a terrific build all around. Nicest Camaro I've seen in a long time!
  8. Very realistic! The windshield really adds to it.
  9. Thanks, Dan--I'd love to see a pic of your red Opel. The paint on mine is one of the Boyd colors from Testor, Lime Pearl. A little loud for most cars, but it seemed right for the Opel.
  10. No major fit issues except predictably with the hood, which is slightly too short and doesn't want to sit flush in the closed position. Weirdly, the lower part of the nose (from bumper height down) is integral to the floorpan in this kit. To prevent an ugly seam and potential fitting problems at final assembly, I cut it out of the floorpan and glued it to the body before painting. If I recall correctly (having done this one in fits and starts) I also trimmed the front inner fenders somewhat to get the chassis to mate cleanly into the body. The most pleasant surprise was that the glass all fit like a dream. This is not a bad kit, though it would be a challenge to create a proper engine bay. Lots of flash, of course, and several mold lines on the body that needed attention.
  11. What inspiring work! I would love to do a Vista Cruiser. C'mon, Revell, you're halfway there already!
  12. Thanks for the kind words, guys! I didn't get too ambitious with this one, given the kit's limitations and my own, but it was a neat subject to work with. I'd love to see that 1/20 kit!
  13. What an amazing build! That's an irresistible model.
  14. Outstanding! Might be the nicest Crown Vic build I've seen.

    Opel GT

Here's my basic build of the AMT Opel GT reissue. It's box stock except for flocking, BMF, the license plate and a bit of work to correct the ride height in front. Might stick with newer kits for a while--boy have they improved!
  16. Great show, guys! Some really eye-opening models there, and many great vendors. Hoping I'll have something worth entering next year.
  17. Nice!! Very appealing models with great attention to detail. I will look forward to seeing more of your builds.
  18. Just to stir the pot a little further, here's my $.02. I'd scratch the Camaro and Solstice in favor of the '57 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham and the '65 Corvair (all body styles!). Or maybe it should be the '60 Corvair, because it was first--but I find the second generation vastly more attractive. Honorable mentions: '92 Cadillac Seville STS, '61 Pontiac Catalina 2DHT, '66 Pontiac Lemans, '66 Olds Cutlass, '66 Chevrolet Chevelle--yeah, it was a good year--, and '70 Olds Cutlass Supreme.
  19. That's great work! Not the easiest of subjects, either, which makes it all the more impressive.
  20. VERY nice! Wonderful color choice, and what clean execution. I want that in my driveway!
  21. Just to echo what everyone else has said--Wow! That is one fantastic build. Thanks for sharing.
  22. That's spectacular! How did you do the bodyside trim strip? The effect is perfect.
  23. The Hobby Barn gets by in such a small down by diversifying--they have a ton of stuff that's really not even hobby per se, but then there's a decent model section. The prices are good and now and then you'll come across an older kit you can't believe is still on the shelf. At the moment they also have bottles of Pro Modeler paint that they're selling off for $1 apiece, all piled in baskets.
  24. Small world! I've probably run into him at the Rent-All at some point. Man, I'm curious about the restaurant--I don't believe I've ever seen a T at a restaurant around here.
  25. West Jefferson, in Ashe County (NW corner of the state), home of a few million Christmas trees and North Carolina's only cheese plant. Plus quite a respectable locally owned hobby shop, the Hobby Barn.
