  1. The 3306 is a totaly different engine about a third smaller in displacment.
  2. A straight out of the box build with simple paint can be done as quick as a few hours. A complex build with details upon details can take months. Some builds seem to never be finished.
  3. Yep an Autocar with a White grill more or less. Not sure why since White owned Autocar but great idea for project.
  4. Royalex is a fancy name for fiberglass. Mack called fiberglass maxiglass.
  5. Reo,Diamond T and Diamond Reo sold these trucks under their names
  6. American Industrial Models has one of the same general vintage and series. Their stuff is usually very nice.
  7. Back to the original questions, Some where on this forum are the answers to make model and era. I haven't had a chance to look but I know it's here. It was some time back.
  8. No doubt Cummins engines look much alike. With a little modification black paint and red rocker box covers you could have an n 14 Cummins which would accurate for that t 600. The 3406 Cat from the monogram/Revell snap kits could work. Keep the pics coming on your progress.
  9. Actually it's a nta 370 Cummins from the AMT w 900 kit as is the entire chassis. The nta Cummins has a vertical oil cooler that identifies them from the ntc engines. There are many other differences as well but not visible in model form. Anyway nice work looking for the finished pics.
  10. Right on Tim I've built many models of trucks I've driven but didn't care for such as the GMC Astro. Even so they make for good subjects. I agree on the Aussie K models for that matter any Aussie trucks.
  11. 07 or 08 when the Argosy was officialy dropped. The majority I saw were in the Pacific nw. Parts wise it shares a lot with the Century Columbia including it's quality. Anyone who drives knows what I mean. Even so would be interesting subject for a model.
  12. The reason Freightliner dropped the Argosy in the US is because being a low sales volume model it was to costly for engineering for the 08 emmisions engines with the dpf and all. Had sales volume been higher the costs might be justifiable. Freightliner's words not mine.
  13. Tim is right on that generic suspension the Amt t500 and Pete 352 use this suspension albeit 1/25 scale. It was also an option on the Dodge Big horn even though only the prototype was built with it. I can tell you from personal experience you might as well have a four spring suspension.
  14. Amt's r model Mack kit regardless of the issue including the junk yard dog was a 1973 or newer model. Mack had a major dash change for 73 Amts kit has the newer dash. I seem to recall the first issue of Amt's r model was about 1975. The box art shows it in green with Matlack decals and spoke wheels also had square fuel tanks very little chrome. Later issues have aluminum wheels and round tanks more chrome and inaccurate simplified mirrors. Amt certainly blew it with the junk yard dog.
  15. Deregulation and relaxed length laws negated the need for them. Also driver comfort issues. A nicely done cabover can be very sharp though.
  16. No doubt wouldn't come cheap. Years ago red was the common color on trucks must be white paint is cheaper now.
  17. That would be nice optional paint scheme on the Prostar. Thanks for the great pics Dave. I'll keep watching for more updates and again thanks.
  18. I think it must be an individual thing, that beauty is in the eye of the behoder thing. IMO the KW t700 is the ugliest truck ever built but if someone produced a decent kit I would still build it. Overall anything called a truck interests me even European designs.
  19. Totally agreed Tim. There is a saying in the motorcycle world "the rarest Harley Davidson is a factory stock one". There was a mid sixties Peterbilt at GATS in Dallas a year or two ago that was modernized with a late model Cat engine Alcoa wheels nice but simple paint and some full fenders but it retained it's 5x4 twin sticks factory sleeper single headlights and pretty much everything it came factory with. There were many well known show trucks surrounding it but it stood out like a beacon. I like your builds because they capture the real world so well.
  20. Agreed Mayhem is certainly one of kind which is the point of customizing but unfortunatly it is pushing the limit of practicality. Traditional trucks are better suited to cusomizing and still being practical but there is a limit. Mayhem is a breath of fresh air though. It's a nice change from all those cookie cutter 379s. The 379 Pete has been done to the point they're boring I appreciate the hard work and money put into them but it's to the point they all look a like. The same thing happened to motorcycles, choppers have been done to the point they all look a like same goes for hot rods. It's so hard to build something nowadays that stands out. Anyway since we are getting way off topic here keep them updates coming Dave and again thanks. Oh and nothing against Petes Tim I still like them.
