  1. That engine is a cat 1150/1160 the fore runner to the 3208 but it is not a 3208 they look similar and sound similar but they are not the same. Early 70s Fords do have their engines painted blue no matter what they are. There is much online about these engines a search should turn up all you need.
  2. AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. Yes you can clearcoat over decals I also use the microsol microset system from microscale it's normally in the model railroad section of the lhs it makes decals look like paint and go over any uneven surface.
  4. Either way the original AMT k 100 that Round 2 re released is a decent kit
  5. Italeri probably would do any Freightliner projects but like most of their American kits they would probably be based on the old Freightliner conventional kits frame. Moebius has proven they can offer an excellent product at a fair price and I salute Dave for his efforts I also salute Round 2 for the old AMT Ertl rereleases it gives us much needed subject matter.
  6. actually the general has a 8v92non turbo 365 hp
  7. Way to go Dave I'll take a few of each.
  8. I'm not complaining but model companies could make better use of their money I've built these kits they just aren't worth the money. I'm sure they were meant for the youth market. The market is more adult oriented now. If these kits are poor sellers we may lose the attention of the manufacturers.
  9. It's good the manufacturers are paying attention but those kits are to big for most and poorly detailed for the money.Amt's 1/43rd scale t'n't kits are better detailed and much older. Yes there are lots of possibilties for super detail work but that's a small portion of modelers. As I recall these kits didn't sell well because of there size and lack of detail even back then. The model companies would do better putting their resources in something more practical and sellable like the Lonestar.
  10. Would be nice if these kits had the detail 1/16 th scale would allow.
  11. Please remember these kits are 40 years old and were state of the art back then I'm still glad Round 2 is bringing them out.
  12. Yes very nice build by the way the vit interior was introduced in 1974 not with the vit 200
  13. The American reefer and the trailer with the steer head are the same kit.
  14. The VIT 200 also had a unique interior in red white and blue pictures are scarce though.I did find some at k100club.com
  15. All monfort w900s had dual air cleaners. Some of the k 100 coes had their 8v71t 350s replaced by cummins kt 450s but none had 12v71s.When Monfort bought Freightliner coes in 1977 they had cummins formula 350s and 9 speeds the end of the Monfort legend they also bought White road commander 2s with the same set up as the Freightliners. They had some 35 or so owner operators who's trucks were painted in company colors one of them may have had a 12v71 one for sure had a 3408 cat. As with most legends there is a lot of exagiration. Either way any of their trucks would make a neat project. Amts coe and w900 are close matches the ntc 350 and 8v71t would be easy as would the twin stick spicer and Allison auto and Italeris 48 ft reefer could be cut down to 39 and half feet and look like a Timpte reefer decals would be the worst part.
