  1. A liitle off topic but there is a blue tricked out lonestar floating around on the web that would be good project also.
  2. Thanks Mr Smithfor those pics. Aerodynamics are important to fuel milage but the biggest factor is still the nut behind the wheel. A good example a company I had my trucks leased to was exclusivily w 9s when fuel hit close to 5 bucks a gallon they bought a couple t2000s speced identical to the w9s . The t2000s surprising to everyone got nearly identical mileage to the w9s maybe a tenth or two more at best.
  3. You make a good point Chuckyr but people don't always think with their wallets. There is still a strong market for tradional trucks and old muscle cars as well. No doubt new w9s and 389s as well as new camaros and mustangs are very modern underneath there appeal is still nostalgic. For a good indicator check the resale value between a similarly speced t600 and a w900. Again either way new kits are always welcome.
  4. Modern aero trucks are like modern cars they all look a like. It is limited what you can do with them. Some extreme customs have been done like the prostar custom called maeyham (it's all over the web I'm not tech savy enough to post pics yet) Even old cabovers can be customized easier (imo). The new prostar kit will still be welcome even so with so many projects possible. Believe or not even the Pete 389 has aerodynics designed in to it. Regardless thanks Dave and Moebious keep em coming. Oh and yes trailers trailers trailers.
  5. My statement was there were no decent t 600s not that there weren't any. Of the 3 I know of the 1/32 Monogram snap tite was the best one.
  6. Exactly, the R of G t600 was also pitiful. Thanks to AMT's half acre attempt at a t600 we will probably never see the w900,the Alaskan hauler or KW/Challenge mixer reissued as supposedly they destroyed those dies to make the t600. Like I said the lonestar is either a love it or hate truck in real life. I'm afraid that is transfering to the model. Some may dis like the 1/1 Lonestar but the fact is the model is a good kit regardless of the subject matter. Moebius and Dave are headed in the right direction one step at a time. By the way I would bet Moebius has sold more Lonestars than International. If the Prostar is as good as the Lonestar it will be a homerun.
  7. The 80s and 90s did get overlooked. No decent t600s, no volvo whites, wheres all the fld freightliners? mack ch models or 9670 ih coes etc.
  8. Totally agreed Tim, there are a lot of Prostars out there. So many possible projects. More vocational trucks would be nice too.
  9. Clearly some use the Prostar/Lonestar cab and some use the 9000i cab sure would be neat subjects. As far as the old trucks I enjoy vintage trucks as well so Round 2 keep them old amt/ertl releases coming. It's a great time for truck modelers, Round 2 for vintage trucks Moebius for modern stuff and Italeri and R of G for Euro and Ausie stuff
  10. Well said Anthony, the real Lonestar is a love it or hate it truck. But if you read the interview with Dave this month in Model Cars magizine he says the upcoming Prostar was part of the plan all along since the Prostar and Lonestar share many components making tooling much easier for additional releases. There are many other Navistar trucks possible with these basic parts including the new Caterpillar vocational trucks built by Navistar. Hint hint.
  11. Actually the the revell snap kit cab is way off being an a model cab the sleeper could work with some changes. Try porky's for the b cab. Don't forget some pics when you get going.
  12. Ok time to stop beating a dead horse here. A few people don't like the Lonestar that's fine. But most people do like it. I've built nearly every truck model available in all scales since I started building in 1970. The Lonestar is not junk, it like all kits has some quirks but it is certainly not junk. May be we should go back to the late 80s early 90s when the model companies forgot truck modelers. We were lucky to have 3 kits available and 0 trailers. Many turned to european trucks thanks to Italeri. I suspect there is an underlying issue of dislike for Dave or the real Lonestar. Overall the Lonestar is one of the best kits to date. The few of you who don't like it don't have to buy it. If it was really a bad kit the majority would not be praising it. The name of this thread was modified because it's time to move on. Perhaps it's time to close this thread.

  14. Yes perhaps would should rename this thread. The Moebius Lonestar is one of the best 1/25th scale truck kits produced to date. Again thanks to Dave and Moebius.
  15. Funny how the box art on the 359 somewhat resembles the Monogram/Revell snap kit. I'm not a Volvo expert but The Volvo n10 IMO was alot better than the Pete kit.
  16. Well put Tim now I remember why I forgot so much about that thing. You can't find one for sale anywhere because they probably all went to file 13. I hope Round 2 misses it too. I would much rather see the 352 come back.

  18. Just looking for some details on Ertl's Peterbilt 359 with metal frame. I know it's not the best kit in the world but would like some input on it for parts or maybe improving it for a build. I'm particularly interested in Tim's thoughts as our resident Pete expert on it's accuarcy or lack there of.
  19. It's a good kit despite a couple wet blankets complaining. As far as none on the road I usually see at least one a day.
