  1. I know KC, I've been a bit slack on the pics. I've filled the cut lines from the section, and finished off the dash conversion, but I decided it's not really update-worthy. Currently eagerly awaiting the arrival of a Modelhaus Sweptline bed . I'm contemplating starting a new chassis for it, but until I know the length of the new bed I can't do much there. I still have the roof chop to do anyway, in the meantime. And finishing off the grille. And sorting out an interior. And engine. So yea, plenty to keep me going while I wait, one thing at a time Thanks José, I am planning on chopping the top just a little yes Thanks for the suggestions Todd I still haven't made up my mind on the grille, so I will mentally jot that idea down. And I think I will drop it mildly too, thanks Thanks heaps Jason, I appreciate you following my builds Thanks Richard, Bill and KC, hopefully we'll see some photos soon
  2. This is going to be one cool build when it's done!
  3. Here's me, trying to look all cool and stuff
  4. Hey, to be fair I didn't make you chop it up. Gave you the idea maybe. Strongly encouraged you perhaps. Threw a few hints, okay yeah. But I deny everything else It's shaping up really well I think mate, I can't wait to see that front all smoothed on and some lights happening
  5. Partly because I wasn't particularly fond of the stock grille, and partly because the stock grille will no longer fit. I started fabbing up something new to catch all the bugs. Things are going slowly, but it's starting to resemble a grille. I think... Here's the frame in its rough state- Still needs a bit of work, a few details, and some massaging, but the basic shapes are there. Not sure if I'm happy with it yet, I'll see how it looks once the headlights are further along- Also, I started swapping the wheel over to a more user-friendly location, considering my location I haven't grabbed a pic since I cleaned up all the filler and other nasty bits- Well, that's where I'm at so far. Thanks for stopping by for a look, and make sure you check out Slowlylearning's part of the fun- http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=73191 More soon, as time allows
  6. Hey folks, This is part two to "Slowly's 77' Van" more or less- my entry into our 'let's actually finish a project' challenge It's AMT's Li'l Red Express. Not the best kit I've come across when it comes to fitment, but otherwise a cool starting point I suppose. Hey, it's a Mopar, it can't be all bad A quick mock-up in terrible lighting conditions; this is what we're working with- Now, to be truly worthy of a 'k', I figured the cab needed to be introduced to my razor saw. As you can see, they got along quite well, and the result was a scale 3" section. It was my first attempt at major bodywork, so be nice A mild chop a little later on, and I think it'll be safe to call it a kustom.
  7. Obviously all amazing WIPs. But may I just say, both of these are absolutely perfect. One traditional and one contemporary. Both beautiful.
  8. I've been away for a little while, great to see that this thread is still going. The work being posted here just keeps getting more and more amazing! Please keep posting this stuff people, it literally makes my day to see such incredible talent wish i had this talent what did u use to make the turbo Thanks Dustin, I appreciate that The turbo was made completely from various shapes and sizes of Evergreen strip/rod/sheet. The intake and compressor parts were made from rod. I heated the rod and wrapped it around an appropriately sized tube. I then cut off the excess and did some shaping with sandpaper/files. The smaller details were added with appropriately sized sheet and strips, also shaped with files as necessary. I was doing a proper tutorial on making turbos, but I lost the pieces I was using for it in the process of moving house Patience is all it takes though. Once you break the part down into simple shapes, you can put it together piece by piece, like a jigsaw puzzle.
  9. So much amazing work here people, I'm loving this thread so much Here's a couple more little pieces I dragged out of my tangled twisted mind Functional universal joint, just because- Functional hood hinge, again just because. Still needs a little gas shock, I couldn't find tube small enough at the time- And just some experimenting with bead welds, nothing compared to what I've seen on this forum- Keep posting people, I'm loving this!
  10. Wow Jim, there's some really good work in there mate. Just spent the good part of an hour going through some of your builds on Fotki

  13. Randy, this stuff is just ridiculous! I mean, just other-worldly skills here, I just don't know how you've done it. Seriously, how the heck did you drill holes in the linkage hardware?
  14. Mate this thing is going to be HUGE!! Will keep an eye on this.
  15. Turning a kit like that into something this great takes some insane skills, which you have mate. Just beautiful, great to see another Mopar off your bench too, hopefully we will see some more Can't wait for the water shots

  18. This is incredible fellas! Wish I could comment on every part, but that would involve me sitting here all night, as I spend at least 15 mins on each pic, just staring in awe From now on whenever I'm feeling low on inspiration/motivation, I'm gonna check in here to see the possibilities
  19. Wow guys, all this work is just incredible!! Truly unbelievable folks, there's some serious talent in here Yea Luke, I have to get back to that soon Seriously, how is that even possible?!
  20. I'll kick it off with some of my humble offerings- Custom pro touring frame, for a currently stalled '80 Camaro project A four link setup for a mate The headers, covers, and dip stick are scratched parts on this 440 magnum Garret style turbo charger for the above 440 Get posting people!
  21. Hey folks, I've been thinking about starting this topic for a while. Seeing some more of you guys' incredible work lately has spurred me on to actually do it. I've searched around, and so far I haven't found an existing thread, but if there is one already I apologize. So rules are: 1. Post images of parts you've scratch built, be it an oil filter or an entire car. A short description of each part would also be helpful 2. Have fun 3. Please refrain from debating about the scratch built/kit bashed thing here 4. Have more fun 5. If you believe your part to be scratch built, then please post it 6. Have even more fun 7. If you believe a particular part to not be scratch built, then please smile, scroll on, and enjoy your day 8. You're not going to believe it, but you need to have more fun Sorry about the lengthy list of rules, but it really is important to have fun Enjoy the eye candy people Can't wait to see all the amazing things you guys have made
  22. How about some custom headers? Pretty quick and easy to do, and they're a neat touch to any build
  23. Wow looking good Jason! Those airbags are sweet as, along with the other suspension mods. Really tidy mate, good job.
