  4. there is a 1/8 or 1/12 scale scratch built one of these on the forum somwhere neat..
  5. Some people like Fords, some love(me) LOVE bowties and some crave Mopar. Same differance, it's preferance, as an early post said" THIS IS AMERICA!" Next thing ya know he's gonna ask why Dr. Cranky wastes all that time building a detailed bucket of rust. To each his own brotha.
  6. Been messing with this for almost a year,, mom bought this 4 my ??? birthday knowing I wanted to build a few of my own and my Papa's old rigs, need a kw now and a flatbed or figure out a double drop lowbow boy like another poster, need to wet sand, get outlines for blue/orchid/purple '80s stripes, touch up interior.. opininions are helpful. i know the engine color isn't correct but ... thanks guys.
  7. Well, i was able to fix the the snapped a-pillar, (thanks to Dr. Cranky's tip videos, this time mainly for being patient ) when i was building competitively 10+ years ago i woulda scrapped it for parts. close enough, right where the trim gets painted black, np. BTW, thx beerman I remember that old kit, black car i think. I have come across a few guys close who buy/sell/trade on craigslist bound to grab one thanks again, heres a crummy update pic after primer,sand,base..
  8. Love that photo of I-70 , been through that stretch alot in my Western Star doing the Shakytown-Denver run, the "San Rafael swell" area is awesome, man i miss the road lol. great pics.
  9. The baldwin motion version of that car is killer, has a more custom hood but in my opinion, its a good if you can find 1. I had a beuty that was chameleon green/blue/purple i did 10 yrs ago b4 the ex got hold of her.. good luck, ebay?craigslist/..
  10. Michael, nice work, i love the Judge's.. Go to photbucket as they say set up an acct. upload your pics from your i-phone or computer to that site, you will creat your own online albums etc.. After that is done you will see 3 little url/www.. boxes below each pic. Have 2 tabs open 1 for here, one there. Go to the bottom 1 that sat img. copy it like you copy and paste anything else, come back here to the post you have written and right click to paste, thats it. I can't remember 4 sure but you may have to delete you older pics you posted here to have room. after thats done you can post away. as for bigger pics, look at any of my posted pics, they came from photobucket and thats the size they end up here, some camera some phone..good luck
  11. In primer, the kit doesn't have the turbine style rims, i have this set from a 70's black chevy van kit, the rears are wider than the front not sure about this look. I don't know where or what kits have them any ideas. Also, somehow the body ended up on the floor under my desk and when i went to put my feet down to get up I heard that dreadful..SNAP! The pass. side of w/s frame broke off top corner to body, im not a great body-man so we'll see..Maybe that wrecked version will happen if i can't fix it.
  12. just like 5 year old, i had to fire up ps3/netflix and see it, the hitch-hiker is the doorman from the "Jefferson's" and it was a ghost just like "Phantom 309" goofy movie but I loved how the guy tried to make up a log book and the troopers said we'll be back in a while there better be 4tons of goods on the road. okayyy
  13. This topic just brought back so many memories from the same period,so similar to my Denver roots, sad though ex-b1#$%h tossed my old family albums with my models when we ... ya know, had so many of my dad and grandpa's old ford pics along with atons of papas rigs and all his Trucker brothas rigs and now would make killer ref. pics. Did bring back alot of great memories in these crummy times thx man.
  14. UHH.. being in a trucking family since birth and all but 2 were kw's sorry mate, but Kenworth and Peterbilt for that matter are American built rigs, the name of the Corporation is called PACCAR, you may have an outsourced plant down under that makes parts or assembles but do you really think as greedy as our country has become with the big corporations they would be happy to ship semi trucks from the complete opposite side of the planet? We pay people in india to answer our dell customer service calls say "hello my name is Bobby, from ...can I help you,?" or better yet, I had to address an issue with direct....satellite svc, the broad was in thailand and could not understand the concept of what I was trying to tell her about .. anyways. you get the point. Sorry for babbling but ...have a great day all.
  15. Neat way to make homemade distribs. I love/love the steel stem prewired ones I used 2 be able 2 get, I am gonna give that a shot in just a few minutes since i have everything out still, the wire i can use is old telephone wiring, close in size and alot of old photo etched looms t
  16. I detect an "OOPSIE! "sorry honey, I'll get that off the new stainless sink and granite counter we just put in, it's ok, it'll come right off, I promise, oh, no, not again!". oh, wait, that was a flashback my bad.lol
  17. Since I moved, there is a Michaels 1/2 mile away and like Hobby Lobby they are great for printable 40% coupons and usually 20-25% tota; purchase coupons. They have a few types of embossing powder or flocking, the martha st#@rt ###### has glitter in it, lays awesome but...the other day in the "scrapbooking are" by th inks etc.. I found the good stuff, in a 12 pack variety "RECOLLECTIONS SIGNATURE ESPECIAL" there are 2 colors im not fond of but maybe ill make my niece a pink and neon green model1 day. My on bench amt freightliner post has a pic of the kit bottles, that was 6 bucks. They also have singles the sizr of a testors spray can for 4 bucks each, at least had 30 colors there. Went in today for another "Crankified" adventure, paint for fast times z28,and 40%off all craft storage, found a few neat things and lil multi drawer wood cabinet (2'x2' cube? or so with a fold down bottom to use as a garage for those that are waiting on the mechanic or painter to get the heck off mcm forum! lol. "I can fix this..my dads a tv repairman,he's got an ultimate set of tools" 10$ for lil desk top storage, 3 bucks for paint etcc. ,,ty
  18. My momma always tells me to trust in the power of prayer, glad things have taken a positive turn brotha. Prayers continuing..
  19. Since getting back into the hobby after my plethora of beloved models was "destoted, lol=destoted:to have ones love, sweat and $$$$$$ in years of model works DESTROYED by an evil wife" I have started, boxed-up,screwed up,etc. I have gotten a bit "Cranky" with many ideas, and just happy to find joy in shopping again, Here is the freightliner amt cabover I started as a tribute to my granpa, I still need to find or make a double drop deck like the 1 in a another big rig post, "3 scratch built trailers". here is my work on this one I have been researching pics and color schemes since i don't have them any more. This is primered w/ marked idea for factory stripes, interior needs a small touch up, used flocking i got from michaels,12pk. 5.99 not glittery type, recollections is the name its better than 8bucks a tube at lhs, nice product only 2 iffy colors u can see how much is in the tubes still. silver chassis, engine close to color, am using chrome tanks and accessories from my own w900 kw kit. Silver metallic/purplish base with orchid and lavender stripes is happening as soon as the store opens so i can get my paints and some other goodies etc..also need paint for my "Fast Times z-28 model" That and thx again Dr.c, I need stuff for my 49 merc. now i see why you like this 1 so much, it is awesome..sorry for the novel, it just a grest day 2 be here.I have several soon to be's but this one needs finished comments, ideas, help is always appreciated. I'm gonna grab a scrapple sandwich and head to store it's 5 till..long live models![iMG]http://i1130.photobucket.com/albums/m539/donkeypuncher1976/IMG_20120515_084819.jpg
  20. I am watching convoy on netflix as i post, sitting at the desk painting engine parts for my amt freightliner coe. Needed some referance pics as the instructions are blah, and I see this! That is some of the best engineering in our little world I have ever seen, bravo Sergy, you guys may laugh but if your base coat is plenty dry, like a week I just tried scotch tape on my 57 rodster 2tone as long as you peel it away right after shooting it works good 4 me, also thin blue mask from auto body supply works good. I am looking at this almost done truck and am sick after seeing this piece of art. Motivation I guess. thanks for all the steps on the custom parts also, will be using that shock idea.
  21. 6 months late on this one, but that ugly sucker looks like a "yard dog", it actually has a coffin sleeper? almost as scary as the old 30-40's where the nose of the trailer was a "coffin sleeper"lol. wild..
  22. 1 word. Amazing! would love to see some pics of you parking lot.
  23. I love the doulble drop! I am doing a freightliner coe like my grandpa's, He pulled a double drop/lowboy as he called it. Looks spot on to your w/o the stretch. can i ask what kit or what your plat form was? That is exactly what i want, thinking of using the fruehauf flatbed and chopping it up but any help is greatly appreciatted.
