Adding an engine to a curbside model
tjones87 replied to scalemodelworld's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
If youe interested in getting rid of the 2n1 kits body, I would be interested in it for my next project...let me know thanks -
interested in checking the rat roaster out for sure
-
its all good with me guys lol...doesn't bother me a bit....now I know who to go to for some decals lol...thanks again guys
-
I think I can just use the nova side decals and the camaro hood decal...but not 100% sure...they look to be the same thing...I know the hood decals are a little different, but mainly cause of the hood shapes...with me using the cowl hood on the nova...the camaro hood decals should fit fine
-
I think that's about the color of the interior paint....looks good to me....if you can do a set that color, with solid hood decal and Nova 454 on side stripes I'd be happy lol....let me know
-
No offence taken dave
-
diymirage -- that looks a bit lighter than what I had planned on...but it could just be my monitor....the interior is going to be a blood red, but can probably match whatever decals I use.
-
Yeah I seen that while building...there were 2 reasons it was left chrome. 1 i ran out of the black paint and 2 I kind of like the chrome look...lol...it wouldn't be anything to go back and paint around the headlights later on though. Thanks everyone for the comments....the 59 Caddy is probably my favorite car...especially dressed in all black....I had license plates made up that said "Psycho Billy" but have misplaced them since I started the build...If i find them I will add them. Kind of a build themed from Johnny Cash - The Man In Black
-
Yeah those are pretty cool....could you do Nova 454 on sides and hood part just solid?
-
Thnx...that's how I've always wanted a caddy...if I ever have the money to restore one, it will be just like this. Except maybe with a bit of chrome along the side and different wheels...and don't think there is such a thing as a quick build lol
-
I started this last year, with hopes of it being a quick build...but turned out to a bit more than i could handle at the time. I finally got the chance to get it back out and finish it up. Installed the performance intake/carb setup on top of the factory 390, with a mild rebuild. There is a link to the WIP thread below....also there are a few pics of the car posted below...you can also check all of them out in my photo bucket album. Now there are a few little pieces that are missing...somehow they walked away while the car was in storage...but nothing that really takes away from the overall appearance...As always, comments and opinions are appreciated...thanks again photobucket -- http://s903.photobucket.com/albums/ac235/buysaletrade87/model%20misc/1959%20Cadillac%20Custom/ WIP thread -- http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=50641

Thanks for that...but i will need the camaro hood decals...since I am not using the flat ss hood with the louvers..... I was hoping to use this type of decal along with the camaro hood decals...but still unsure if I'm going to clone it...

Got the taillights and tail-fin spears mounted, then broke the front passenger wheel off...so have to reglue it. I will get pics after installing everything else....hoping to have this moved to the Underglass section by the weekend. -
if i could get some in a darker red, I might go ahead and make a Yenko clone out of it.

Well after nearly a year, the 59 Caddy is back on the bench lol. Taking a break from the 69 Nova SS build...thought I would break this one out again and try o get her finished...got the underside all buttoned up, bumpers put on and they are now drying completely before I do anything else to it. Iwill get more pics after installing tailfin spears and windshield frame....thanks and sorry again for the long delay -
Will have to find me some black ones lol...Still debating on making it a Yenko clone or not. if I do then i want it to be darker red to match the interior...but...will see when i get farther along I guess...may just tape out my own design and paint it.....
-
I got a mock up of how the engine fits...I could almost use the flat hood, but cant lower engine anymore. So I will be using the cowl hood. In the pics the engine is a little crooked (had an engine mount slip on me...but is taken care of now....Also removed the vent window posts after pics were taken...Will probably use the lift blocks to raise rear end a little more than stock....but unsure....more to come soon...thanks and as always, comments and suggestions are welcome.. If anyone knows a good plce to get pics of a white w/ red interior nova..let me know...I cant seem to find any decent pics....
-
I had thought about some red Yenko stripes, but can't find any...so might just go with red stripes on hood and trunk lid....still unsure..will see what it looks like solid white first....I also deleted the vent window...gives it a factory custom look. Will get more pics as soon as possible...thanks again

I had planned on waiting till 2013 to start a new build, but was bored today, so went ahead and cracked open 2 kits. I will be building the new Revell 69 Nova SS kit, but will be installing the big block chevy from the 67 Chevelle Pro Street kit, instead of the little small block. I am also using the intake, carb, distributor and valve covers from a 70 1/2 Baldwin Motion Camaro pro shop kit. I go the engine built this evening...and will be doing more either this evening (12/24) or tomorrow evening. I plan on painting the Nova white with red interior...haven't seen many 1:1 cars with this combo...but you guys know how things tend to change lol..here is what i got so far... this is also the first engine that I recall to have a separate fuel pump....was the hardest thing to attach lol as always..comments and suggestions welcome .

Scratch Build Steering Wheels ?
tjones87 replied to fredo84's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I will be trying to build my own steering wheel over Xmas, and will post it up if i get it right... I will be starting with the outside ring from a kit steering wheel and adding my own center. Good thing is, it doesn't need any kind of dish, so should be fairly simple.... Fred, I would like to see what you accomplish... -
AMT 68 Z28 kit question
tjones87 replied to tjones87's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Yeah...i would have hated to destroy a holy grail kit....My dad gave me all his kits about 15 years ago and I never done anything with them until about 5 years ago...this is one he had started, so i just kind of done my own thing to it...wish I would have the skill and knowledge i do now...I may end up rebuilding it into something someday lol....I still have the box and instructions lol I am also finding bits and pieces of it in my parts box. -
