  1. Got a little more done tonight....I need to wait for a slow day to paint the body and frame...I have thought about going with black gloss on body and a dark grey for the frame...still unsure about the exhaust, tanks etc.... interior...dark grey with some red/white accents....left steering wheel and shift knob white for a little contrast and to go along with the white gauges...let me know what you guys think....will get more progress pics up asap
  2. that is a sick looking truck....I have decided to go black with the main color, but not sure what the accents will be...I would love to have straight stacks, but not sure on how to make my own, and cant really afford to buy any at the moment.
  3. I have had this kit for almost 2 years and jst now getting to it...I had planned on doing it box stock, but haven't seen too many people customizing it. I thought I would throw my own little touch to it. It will be a dark truck with just a little bit of chrome accenting on it.The way I would want my 1:1 truck if I drove one. Here is the stance I went with, not much lower than stock, but just a bit. Will be getting more done to it, as well as some more pics...thanks any suggestions or opinions are appreciated
  4. Yeah I was thinking about that as well...but trying to find someone willing to let a hood go without the rest of the kit lol....I found 2 styrene scoops i am going to get and see what I can come up with
  5. I was looking at it and basically did what BigBad done, just took a little more off the front....and couldn't get anything done to the rear, but it sits pretty good. I didn't make the front look its best, but paint should cover it up. thanks
  6. it is the revell snap kit...i have had it a year or so, just been doing car kits and working on my 1:1 car...going to use this as a way to get back in the model groove.
  7. I am going to start customizing this kit and was wondering how I would go about lowering it....I have been looking at it for a day or so, and just cant wrap my mind around what needs to be done. On another note, has anyone ever chopped a big rig or customized this kit drastically? Would like to see any pics of anything custom done to this kit....thanks
  8. ok thanks for the help..I have located a styrene scoop similar to this, that I might can make work...if so i will just go that way....but never know, may end up having to pick the resin scoop up..... Also, not sure where to ask this, but if I got the hood to look right, would there be a caster out there that would be interested in making these? I know this is a popular hood to use for a street car, not everyone likes the outlaw hoods lol....thanks
  9. I have been looking all over and cant find the right cowl hood for a 70-73 Camaro. I have found the right scoop in resin and was just wondering how I would go about attaching it to the stock kit hood? If its possible? Any and all help is appreciated. thanks this is the type of hood I am wanting, but no one seems to make them....
  10. Had alot of good experiences here, but I have recently been venturing away from the hobby. I guess if the model bug comes back I will be back to the forum...Hate to see all my half built cars put back in their boxes, but just cant seem to get up and get them finished. thanks again to all of you who have helpded me, and traded with me in the past.
  11. Unfortunately I will not be finishign this for awhile. I have had soem stuff come up and not into building at the moment. On a good note..I did get my laptop fixed.
  12. It is Createx Opaque Yellow. Was the only thing I had when I was ready to spray the body. It looks alot better than I imagined it would.
  13. here it is after clear coat sprayed....
  14. yeah i think they look amazing in yellow. Would look better with black stripes, but this one got the stripe delete option lol. Hoping to have it done a little later tonight, but probably this weekend...got the clear sprayed today, not just all the little details. thanks for the comments.
  15. Had my laptop crash on the the other morning, so had to put a halt on this build...so I will be using the laptop as a place to snap pics, until I get it fixed (if its fixable)... Finally got a chance to work on my Cobra. I dont all this today...got just about everything ready for assembly. Just need to clear the body and add the small pieces afterwards. I had initially planned on wrapping the body in BMF (after getting hood wrapped within 2 hours, the body did not coporate as well) but ended up going yellow. I will be using the cover for the pass side of the car. Hope to get it finished before the weekend.
  16. The cab and front axle came from a bunch of parts I got from Nick on here and are unsure what they are. The frame, headlight mount, rear axles tubes, license plate relocation bracket are scratch built. The rear pan, firewall (tailgate), dash (covered in BMF) are from the 3n1 29 Ford rat Rod truck kit. The grille is from I believe a 29 Ford. The engine/trans was from the Lamborghini Countach kit. The seat and gauges decals came out of a Testors Lamborghini Diablo kit. Headlight were pulled from part of a Toyota Rally/race car. Everything else was pulled from the big spare parts box. I am sure I am forgetting something, but everything was either pulled from parts box, parts kits or scratch built.
  17. ok guys got this thing done...couldnt use the truck bed sides and flares, had a mishap with the exhaust on the passenger side and a mis measurment lol. anywho....here are a few pics of the complete build. it is not exactly how I wanted it, but didnt feel like dragging this out any more... and guys the are .243 casings...was the closest thing I could reach when ready to take pics lol
  18. yeah, id love to tear one down and see just how complicated it is....nothing like I've ever messed with for sure....haven't had time to work on this build the past day or two...our car show is Saturday morning, and been spending every free minute on my car...hope to finish it up before the weekends over though...thanks
  19. got this in the mail today...ready for the Shelby tribute build
  20. Looks great...cant wait to get mine in, will more than likely be done box stock, but not blue...love them in blue, but too many out there...will have to think of a different color.
  21. got the engine and rear tires mounted this evening....hoping to have it finished sometime tonight.
  22. Got a little assembly done...but got a headache so gonna try and finish tomorrow. Got the intake stacks (styrene rod wrapped in BMF and painted black on end) on the engine, along with the exhaust re-glued on. Got the front axle, fuel tank and grille assembly glued on. Once everything is assembled I will be making a list of all the parts used in the build. thanks for looking and let me know what you think, good or bad, a little criticism never hurt anyone
  23. Got more done, now just about ready for assembly....planned on building a Cobra for the Carrol Shelby build, but haven't received my kit yet, and will be busy all next week....this will probably be my last build for awhile, unless I just come across something that really inspires me to start up again.... I know this isn't the most accurate/functional build. Not much suspension, steering linkages, rear axle mounting is simple...but should look good up on the shelf. Everything in this build was grabbed from the parts box or was scratch built..once assembled i will get a list of the parts used... Engine all painted with exhaust, just need to add some kind of intake system... All parts, ready to be assembled...
  24. Yeah, I have noticed this has been slow lately....got some paint sprayed early this morning, and tried my hand at weathering, but did not turn out right...so i just resprayed everything...here are some progress pics...more to come soon I covered the dash with chrome BMF (first time using BMF) and it turned out alot better than I figured. I am still unsure about the truck bed...it is painted, but havent mocked it up yet....still need to narrow the rear axle assembly...
  25. Got a little time to mess with my rat rod build...got some mocking up done. Need to shorten the rear axles just a bit and figure out some kind of exhaust. Let me knwo what you think about the truck bed...still unsure if I want to use it or not...
