  1. finally got a chance to shoot some clear on the body, hood and convert cover...Not the best clear job, and has a little orange peel, but not too worried, since you can see a little of the previous damage I think I will just leave the clear alone...maybe it will draw your attention from the other places lol...hoping to get it finished up soon..Will get better pics later on once I can handle the body more...thanks
  2. Well finally got a chance to spray some clear...cant see it too good in these pics, but will give you an idea of overall look...Will get better pics once the clear gets a tad bit harder and I can handle the body....hopefully I can get this thing finished here soon
  3. that is awesome...love the little details and the overall look...great job on that build
  4. looks good so far...will be following this for sure...always loved the white/blue T/A's
  5. Went ahead and got the rectangle styrene strip for frame rails and the round rod for cross members and braces. Now just on to finding a body lol...thanks for all the info and suggestions..
  6. those are some great pics to get some ideas from. I am going to be building a street rod (body undecided as of now) that is powered by a Lamborghini V12. Will more than likely be using a front axle from a t-bucket kit and rear end from my parts box (or semi truck rear w/ dual wheels) and probably alot of scratch built parts. I am wanting it to look like something that could be done in 1:1 if for some reason you had the funds and just wanted something different. I haven't found the body I am going to use yet, so can't do any planning as to shape of frame needed. I am just getting pieces together at the moment. I would like for the frame to be mostly covered except for the front end which will be open wheeled...I am planning on trying to find the semi rear end and use the dual wheels, but also have several sets of pro-street wheels/tires I might use. I am always looking for pictures of different types of frames, running gear, body mounting, ladder bar/ torsion bar set ups, etc...This will be my first scratch build and just going to go all out with it.
  7. Thanks Bernard, that helped out alot...I believe I am going to use the grid(graph paper) for a building surface...to keep it as square as possible. Won't know exactly what I will need until I find a body to use...I am sure it might take a time or two to get it perfect, but if it doesn't turn out good I can always scrap the styrene and re-use it again on something else.... I have been looking at styrene strips and rod and think I am going to use .060" x 1/8" rectangle strip for the frame rails and either .10" round rod or .10" square rod for the cross-members and bracing...which would be/look better? I', not too worried about it being perfectly like a 1:1 frame since the concept of the build is pretty impractical in itself lol....thanks again for the info and I will hopefully be starting soon...
  8. I am going to try and scratch build a hot rod frame and was just wondering if anyone had any advice? Whats the best size tubing to use? Also is it easier to use square/rectangle tubing than round tubing? any tips or recommendations are greatly appreciated...thanks
  9. looks like an interesting build...will be watching this one for sure
  10. Will do a WIP for sure bandit1..also just opened it up and looks to be a pretty good looking kit. Will get some pics of it later..
  11. got a few more decals put on and think thats about all I'm doing. Going to be getting clear sprayed on ASAP...more pics to come
  12. got my Harley Davidson in about an hour ago via UPS...still unsure if I am goign to build or leave sealed for a little bit...will think about it while I finish the f/c
  13. got a few decals put on last night before calling it a night...will be using a few more, but dont think I am going to go all out like whats called for...going for the custom personal funny car and not the highly sponsored car. here are a few pics...thanks the grille decals were the first I tried putting on and one folded over onto its self and the other ripped after getting it wet......so going without them unles I can find some more somewere... also got the side louvers painted black and the window openings trimmed with some black paint...still unsure if I am going to do around the side windows
  14. Well...decided to go ahead and put on a few of the decals I planne don using before clearing the body...as I was putting the first one on (driver side grille) i notice the paint was lighter were the water had dripped from the decal. After looking at it more there are water spots across the nise and hood of the car...so guess I am not goign to be using decals on the body like I had planned. Plus now I have to re-spray the body...well guess this means a cleaner and quicker build.
  15. got the engine assembled (was partially built when I got the kit) and done some painting here and there. Alot of the tubing will nto be used as it is all dry and cant seem to get it to work properly....oh well..maybe on next build...here are a few pics...thanks and one of it sitting in the bare chassis...going to look good i think
  16. vwrabbit --- yeah createx does well on styrene...but you need to clear coat it pretty soon after laying colour down...this stuff scratches pretty easy. Being water based It doesnt bond to the plastic like all the solvent based paints, but I like it and have used it on several build with success. Thanks for the comment on color combo...was looking for eye catching and think i achieved it lol eviltwincustoms --- i have heard that these kits dont have the right ride height oncecompleted, and just by looking you can ell its going to be a little high. I am not too worried since this is my first larger scale build and will be sitting on a shelf most of its life...and isnt as detailed as most builds. Since some of the tubing and stuff was all dry and old (this is the 88 issue) soem of them will not be assembled. Nitro junky --- yeah i have seen the write up on how to fix the ride height, and it doesnt seem too hard, but think I will just leave this one alone and maube fix the next one I do....
  17. got some paint on the chassis and body...now to finish up all the little pieces and do a little assembly...here are a few more pics to hold you guys over...thanks
  18. I started working on this build a few days ago...been painting all the little pieces with a brush. Finally got the body in basecoat, createx white. Will be trying to get color sprayed on in a few days and also get the chassis painted. here are a few pics, more to come...thanks
  19. thats cool...i just got it earlier today...and hoping it arrives soon...i am not sure if I am goign to open it right away or leave it sealed for awhile...hard decision lol...thanks
  20. ok thanks for the heads up one those parts...will check that place out...plus I am going to a friends dad who has an actual bike...maybe I can see some inspiration...thanks again
  21. all i care is that its a good builder lol..i plan on doing some custom touches to it along the way....not 100% sure on what I'm going to do, but didnt want to get a kit that gave me more trouble than is worth...thanks for the reply
  22. this hasnt been a bad kit at anytime...seems to flow together real nice...only thing I didnt like was the one spoiler choice and the molded in roof scoop, but i think it turned out good and looks decent...i would have liked to had the revelle kit, but i got this one in a trade and have wanted to build an eclipse for a few years now...
  23. got some more stuff in today lol..been buying like crazy latley...but have to settle down now for a little while anyways...
  24. I was just wondering if anyone has built or messed with this kit. If so us it a good kit? I am planning on purchasing and building this kit. It will be my first motorcycle and only my 2nd big scale build
  25. got the hood painted finally...also blacked out the rear and quarter glass, and also the headlight housings. hoping to clear everything soon and get this one finished...thanks
