  1. thanks for the tip on the white walls, will see about doing something to them. I am debating on using the rear fenders that came with the kit. The rear tires are a little farther away from the body than I'd like and think they would fill in the gap... I will get some pics of it mocked up with and without the fenders on in a little bit. As far as the motor goes, i already have the one side of the headers glued on, so color will stay. Even though I kind of like it, is something different from all the red, yellow or blue engines you usually see. thanks
  2. Still no clear coat, but got the tires in the mail today. Also scratched around in my parts box and found some old Cragars I think I am going to use. Seem to fit the styling of this build. I also have some fat/skinny wheels and tires on the way...might see what they look like before deciding on anything. Got some paint for the interior ordered, should be here by the weekend (only thing about ordering online I hate).....here are a few pics to update the build...thanks again also is a pic of the headers I made. I wasn't too crazy about the strap along the bottom, but only way I knew to keep them together.
  3. ended up not getting any clear today, but did do a little paint work to the body (got bored and wanted to break up the green a little bit. these are the extra pieces that came with the kit that I was talking about...any idea what they are?
  4. I like the idea for a cream interior...I also noticed the room under the body, but don't have anything that will fit under it at the moment, so will get to that later on maybe...I have to make a driveshaft, as the trans is quite a bit longer than the kit trans. I am going for the hot rod look with minimum chrome. I am making my own headers by using the kit headers but customizing them to fit this engine (is going to be the hardest part of build) your build looks great..i also like the wheels/tires in this kit, but think i am going to be using some wider white walls out back (still unsure and havent got them in the mail yet) Any idea what all the extra parts are for? they aren't pictured on the build sheets...maybe some kind of stand or something? will try and get a pic of them for clarification
  5. Went through all the pics I took and these were the better ones. I used Createx Opaque green and turned out pretty good. Is my first time using createx paints, and seem to like them so far....still need to get a clear to put over everything...will pick it up later on... the flat black pieces are testors enamel painted with a brush. and rear end and front axle are testors aluminum enamel. still unsure on seat color..white or black? let me know what you think of the build so far...
  6. Picked up the Lindberg 32 Ford 3n1 kit the other day as a Christmas present. Since I am waiting on parts to get in for my 49 merc, i figured I would mess around with it to kill some time. After opening it, the engine was the first thing that was going to be changed. I assembled the Mopar engine that came along with the Merc. I first had the engine flat black, but after seeing a t-bucket online that had a purple 440, I repainted it. After test fitting the engine in the frame, I had no kind of motor mount. After looking at the kit engine, it had these little prongs on it that slipped around a spot on the frame. Took awhile, but got them cut off and positioned were they needed to be and glued them to the frame. sorry for the blurry pic, camera wouldn't focus... a few shots with motor positioned in the frame and body on to check firewall clearance. coming together slowly.. more to come...just got body, frame and a few pieces painted..will post pics later (possibly tomorrow sometime)... Thanks for checking this out and let me know what you think..any suggestions or opinions are appreciated.
  7. if I had a body for my lambo i would enter it, but body is beyond repair..maybe next time...some nice looking builds going on
  8. finally (after some P.O. issues LOL) got the 1/8 1982 Corvette I bought from George53. Is going to be a fun build for sure. Will be my first build outside the 1/25 world. thanks again George
  9. I might be interested in a set, depending on price...i dont have a trailer yet, but hoping to have one soon. Thanks
  10. they have been holding my funds because I don't have an established ebay seller account. I am through selling on ebay, and possibly done buying on there too. If they would give enough to ship stuff it would be ok. I had to ship out 3 packages the other day out of my pocket and then 2 days later paypal sent me the shipping funds but are still holding the rest until the 6th of January.... I have been trying to find a reason to get away from ebay, so think I have found it. felt like telling my opinion lol..thanks
  11. thats a good idea about a poll..how do i go about setting it up? thanks
  12. I will touch it up, just got it painted and took the pic early this morning before leaving the house... I am still debating on a different engine. all depends on the fit of another one. Going to leave this one alone until after the weekend. Maybe I can get it done the first of next week. thanks
  13. here is a pic of the flathead, if i have to use it..I repainted it red over the flat black and gave it a pretty cool look.
  14. got some assembly done today. now just waiting on an engine and rims/tires....need a break from this build, going to put it in the box until rest of parts get here...thanks for looking chassis interior
  15. got the body, hood, trunk, frame and interior tub painted today...looks decent. going to try and get as much assembly as possible done today. will post pics later. thanks
  16. I am going to be getting wheels.tires and engine from model trucker on here..thanks again maybe once it quits raining and gets a little warmer I can paint the big pieces...will post pics asap
  17. It seems to be a great little compressor so far..WAY quiter than my previous one haha. got me a few new items today(early christmas gifts) from hobby lobby.... and the 1/8 corvette wheels I got from rout66modeler..thanks again
  18. Finally got my new(to me) compressor in...is used but got it at a decent price and works like new...just has 2 of the feet broke off, but just sit them under it and is nice and sturdy..will be looking for replacments
  19. I am debating on throwing another engine in (just have to find one) i was plannin gon some kind of battle scar, nt sure on what or how to do it. I think I have come up with a decent scratch biult bottle/crate set (will see what it looks like painted up)
  20. this kit is the perfect choice for what I am going to do with it...if I was going to gt real detailed or customize it alot i would probably go with a "better" kit. only reason I picked it up was the price, so even if the entire kit went into the parts box it wouldn't be a complete loss. but here are a few pics of the body (nothing done to it yet) and the freshly built flathead w/ offy heads. going to be getting some flat clear and trying it on the chrome bumpers to dull them down a bit, but may end up painting them to resemble steel or just go flat black on them (still undecided). Anyone knwo were I might can get some crates & bottles to put in the trunk, or what would i need to make some? thanks
  21. it still has the bumpers with it and they will be going on it. just need to find a way to dull them down a bit. it is going to be as stock as possible, considering someone has filled in alot of the body gaps with filler. like i said before, it will not be a detailed kit or patiently built. It is just something to pass the time so the parts for my 59 cadi can get here along with my new compressor. also i am building this without instructions, only thing it didn't have in the box, but its not too big of deal.
  22. thats ok....i paid a whole $3.50 for the kit...just going to have some fun with it..so far its not too bad. It wont be a very detailed kit, just some flat black paint some accents. If the kit doesn't go together well, it may have some slight body damage...after all it is a moonshine ride haha
  23. Got this in the mail yesterday and decided to go ahead and put it together while waiting for more parts for the cadillac. This kit has already been started in the customization stage, someone has added filler around trunk and hood opening and at one time had the front and rear rollpan/bumpers molded in (have been pulled off for some reason). Also there will be no taillights I guess, as they have been filled in too...Will be using the flathead with offy heads and intake. The pic is of the kit after opening it. will get more later on today of the progress I make. Any suggestions and ideas are appreciated. thanks
  24. Got the unbuilt 49 merc kit I got cheap off ebay that someone tried to customized a little bit (will more than likely hit the parts box) and also came with 2 sets of rims/tires and 3 spinner rims/tires...also got my first BMF in...going to try it for the first time and see how it goes.
  25. I am in...This will be my first build of this type. Already got the donor kit and gathering up parts for the build...
