359 Peterbilt (customised)
fractalign replied to Cool Hand's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
This looks very cool, i doing a custom pete myself based off the same kit, i will be following yours with great interest ! -
Hey. I have been wanting to do this one for a while now, i have always liked the early Ford Trucks, the first vehicle i ever owned was a 34 Ford Truck. Anyway my idea is to make up a 34 Ford based tilt tray as we call them over here, or rollback table top truck. More of an idea than a project at the moment, i have gotten as far as making up a chassis for it. My plan is to get the drivetrain from a Monogram F 350 and use it for this one, only problem is with these kits going for around the 60 dollar mark on ebay its more than i can afford considering i don't need the body or chassis. Here a couple of photo's and in case you are wondering the wheels and suspension sitting under it at the moment are from the Revell 132: snap tite GMC kit. I may end up modifying these wheels to use for this project if i cant get any F 350 parts. My other option is to go old school and use original style wheels, this is one i have been working on for a while now. Cheers..Rob.

now all we need is someone to build a full size version, it would rival the rat rods in the freaky department ! -
Making Door & Hood Hinges
fractalign replied to Fullauto-1966's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
thanks for the tutorial, i know how i will hing my doors in the future ! -
I am wondering if there is any one who can help me with a post that i want to do ? I recently put up photo's of a project i am working on and clicked on post to put it up, the only problem is that i don,t know how to add more photo's to my original topic and instead have put new posts of the same topic, which only serves to confuse anyone looking for updates on the original one. What i need to know is how i can get back to the original post and add new photo's to it rather than starting to new one. I have watched the tutorial on poisting photo's a number of times, and while i know how to put them up i still need to know how to keep to the original post, because i don't want to have top start a new topic each time, when i am only updating the original one anyway. Can any one help me with this please !

1937 Ford Roadster Utility a rare Australian made commercial vehicle !
fractalign replied to fractalign's topic in Model Cars
Firstly thank you for all the compliments, its nice to know others appreciate my work ! Just to fill you in on this mode, its actually a resin one i cast from a master that i made up from the Monogram 37 Convertible body, i converted the dash to right hand side by swapping the instrument guages and the glove box. -

Thought i might put this up. I built this years ago and it is a replica of an Australian bodied 37 Ford Roadster Utility. Only a few hundred of these rolled out of the Ford Factory in Geelong. I have seen about the three of them in full size but never one as a model. For this one i used the Revell Monogram 37 Convertible chassis, with the bench seat coming out of the coupe version along with the door trims. The wheels are the American five spokes from the Revell 32 Ford kit. For the engine i choose something a bit more unusual its a DOHC 4.6 Litre Cobra engine from the AMT 32 Victoria kit.

Here it is with a fresh coat of etch primer and windscreen frame sitting on top. The cab is still in two at the moment with the roof and rear section needing to be attached to the front half at the a pillars, but before i can do that i will need to get the windscreen frame into place and make a surround for it that attaches to either pillar. After doing that i will cut out a window for the back of the cab. Once that is done i can assemble the two halves and begin working on the hood, grill, and fenders. Stay tuned !

Once i cut out the sides and roof i had to work out how to shape the roof. To make up the curve in the roof, i made up a balsa wood buck and glued it to the plastic base, then sanded it down, i then filed the edges of the balsa wood so that it would not be visible when i filled it. I find that automotive two part body filler works the best for this, because it is strong and dries quickly. Once the first layer was applied and set i roughed it down and added another over the low spots. After a third light coat of body filler i finally applied a coat of etch primer to it to see how it was shaping up and then assembled the basic cab. This is how it is looking at the moment ! Next on list is doing the firewall and making up the windscreen.

Hey. I have been wanting to build a truck model for a while now and recently bought a Revell 125: scale Peterbilt 359. The price was right and my plan was to convert it into an early model 350 because i happen to like the early model Peterbilts. While the two models are similar, i thought about it a bit and decided it would be easier to scratch build a 350 rather than try to convert the 359 into a 350. By using the 359 chassis as a template i realised i would have an easy platform to work off. With the nearest hobby shop over 100 miles away and materials in short supply i looked around for some suitable material and decided on using excess CD covers. Their rigid design design makes them perfect for this project.

i have the stock pick version and i have to say its not a bad kit at all, very well detailed and so on. The only problem i have with this kit is the 2 peice cab that attaches at the belt line of the cowl being a bit odd. When its assebled it looks a bit strange and i found i needed to putty in around that area to soften the lines so they more resembled a full size model A. I think they molded it this way to save space in the box but they would have been far smarter to have done it the way revell did it with their 30 tudor release and kept the cowl as a single unit !

Hello. I have been toying with the idea of building a 33 Dodge pick up in 1:25 scale for some time now. There is just one problem.......they do not exist as models, at least not to my knowledge ! While i have weighed up the option of modifying a revell 32 or AMT 34 Ford into a 33 Dodge, i have decided it would be far easier to start a fresh. With i have plenty of experience scratch building models and no shortage of material to work with there is just one thing stopping me from starting this one, LACK OF MEASUREMENTS ! I am just wondering if there is any one out there who owns or has access to a 33 Dodge Pick and is able to supply me with measurements for this project. It does not nessesarily have to be a 33/34 Dodge, a 33/34 Plymouth or Desoto would do, and while i would prefer a pick up any closed body will do, I can email through a diagram with all the measurements i need. If any body is able to assist me with this project i will be very greatful. Regards Rob.

I have read this post with great interest and i know that i could easily scratch build a body for a 32 Plymouth if i was given the pricise dimensions. I have done quite a few over the years more out of necessity than anything else for the simple fact that it is almost impossible to find model kits that are not Ford or Willys Based in the early 30's style ! Being a member of the Chrysler Family i think your best choice would be to use the MPC Connisuer Classics 1932 Chrysler Roadster, i have one of these kits and while its not the same as a 32 Plymouth it is a lot closer than using a Ford because as Looker posted, the bonnet extends all the way to the windscreen on a 32 Plymouth just like the 32 Chrysler Roadster !

That is very cool ! I have to say it is great to see someone else doing some thing different to the usual 28 to 34 Fords. I am working on a 1934 Chev roadster at the moment and i hope to have photos up when i have finished it. ps are you going to mould it ? because it would make an awesome resin model.
