Hey. I have been sidelined trying to complete the 32 pickups and BB trucks but as soon as i get these done I will get back into the AA truck. As far as it's progress goes there is not too much left to do. The cab is mostly complete, it just needs the upper swage below the back window and the round bolt heads that attach the cab panel to the inner frame to be made up. I am making up a mould from which i can make the studs up for this task. For the fenders, I have attached the diamond plate running boards from the Lindberg 34 pickup onto them, I have made up a set of chassis rails, these are the shorter 131 inch wheel base rails. The other remaining tasks include making up the rear suspension and diff. The first AA truck to be completed will be the 157 inch wheel base flatbed version. Cheers.

I have been thinking about this myself. Publisher is a great way to design your own decals. I have a Testors Decal Maker Kit and I went so far as to create a set of flames in Publisher that i was going to print out as decals for a replica of the California Kid that I am putting together. When I found out there was a guy that was doing a set i abandoned that idea and decided to order a set from him. Having looked at the image, I am pretty confident that I can do it. Not an exact copy but very close. Not sure what colours but i can guess red lettering. I did a computer course a couple of years ago where I learnt Publisher and I also learnt how to insert photos into Publisher and manipulate them. It will take a couple of hours at the most. If you want to pm me your email I can email back the finished item for your scrutiny.

I don't know if this helps but am am working on a range of trucks at the moment that will include, tipper, tow truck, tanker, flatbed, fire engine and cement mixer bodies. These were going to be added options for the base model trucks i am developing but I am more than happy to sell them on their own. Another one i am working on is a tilt tray "aka" rollback body. Let me know specifically what you want and I might be able to make it up. All the best !

Castenparts on Ebay?

This guy is nothing more than a thief and in many ways he is worse because he is pretending to be a legitimate business. At least when you are burgled you know you have been burgled. Its a shame in a way this criminal is going out of business, otherwise you could waste his time with phoney orders. For everyone who has been screwed over by this guy, may I suggest banding together and contacting a department of consumer affairs or a no win no fee lawyer and suing him, and if that fails informing the police. The way I see it is that he has a legal obligation to either........ A , ship out you product as agreed or B return your money. If he does neither than he should be charged with theft and fraud ! -
The only thing the AMT 32 Roadster has over the Revell version is the fact that it has the stock 32 hinges which is something the Revell version sadly lacks, otherwise the AMT version does not compare. It would be easy enough to un section the front of the body or section the rear so that the body flows with the frame rails though. The Reason AMT did their 32 bodies with the sectioned front cowl is because the fenders were one piece as such they required a floor that sat above the chassis. The result was that body sat over the fenders rather than the actual chassis meaning the front lower edge of the cowl had to taper up. Monagram on the other hand thought that it could get around this problem with their own 32's by making the floor and the chassis one unit that the body could sit directly on. While this did work and the body proportions were correct, the one piece fender/chassis limited what builders could put together. For example it was not possible to put together a hi boy.

Truck Building Challenge
fractalign replied to mgbdriver's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The wheels from the Italeri Opal won't work because they are six holes. I spent 18 months trying to scratch build a five hole truck wheel in this style and finally cast my first one the other week. I am now working on the tyres to suit. I could certainly be up for this challenge if i had the time. I have already figured out how to create the mixer chamber. If anyone is not able to figure this one out, pm me, I am only to happy to help out, not enough thirties and forties trucks being built ! -
I was not aware there were not many late model pick ups being offered, I actually prefer the early stuff which is even more scarce. Having said that, the fact that the majors are reluctant to release new pickup kits by claiming there is not enough of a market is a bit hypercritical. How do they determine market demand? This topic proves there is market demand for such a kit. The fact that a Chinese company has the nerve to charge 70 dollars for their own version proves there is a market as well. I should also add that it is so typical of a Chinese company to charge top dollar for a product that based on their own costs is minimal. Its impossible for any other nation to compete with these guys. There is no doubt the the majors are completely out of touch with what modellers actually want and given the ruthlessness of the Chinese companies it will only be a matter of time before they either go out of business or sell out to them altogether.
