  1. I hope they can sell a bazillion and three of these kits... then use that newfound wealth to tool up a full-detail 1/8 scale Superbird, which is what I am interested in seeing!
  2. And I was taught that the car to the right has the right of way. But if there are 4 cars at the intersection, every one of them is to the right of somebody! So who goes first? To makes things even more confusing, I read somewhere that legally, in that kind of situation there is no "right of way." So what do we do now???
  3. It's not. This is a scratchbuilt model.
  4. This reminds me of an interesting thing I read somewhere. If 4 cars all come to a 4-way stop intersection at the exact same time which driver continues on his way first?
  5. I'm a leftie too. As far as the Chinese go, I'd guess the leftie percentage is the same as it is everywhere... around 10%?
  6. How does knowing what percent of accidents involve alcohol have any bearing on your driving ability? That's about as relevant as asking what percent of Chinese are left-handed. And as far as parking a certain number of feet away from a stop sign: instead of assuming every driver carries a tape measure with him and carefully measures the distance from parked car to stop sign, how about just paint the curb yellow in the "no parking" area? What, that makes too much sense? BTW... school speed limits here are 20 mph. I did get that one right!
  7. Final vote 37-19 model. You're right! It's a mode!l (1/8 scale). Next ROM coming MONDAY!
  8. Sorry Dave... I thought you were piling on, my mistake. Sooooooo... how about that Britney Spears on Letterman last nite?
  9. If that was meant for me, I don't get it. How did I criticize other people's choices? I just answered the guy's question. Where was the criticism?
  10. Hey, any model kit that stirs up interest is a good thing for the hobby overall, no matter what the reason, right? I remember building the Tijuana Taxi as a little kid. It was molded in bright orange, IIR. Also built the Red Baron, the Pie Wagon, the Paddy Wagon and the Boothill Express. Probably others, too, but I can't remember them all. So many models, so few remaining brain cells...
  11. Ok, so why exactly are you excited to see these kits reissued, if not nostalgia? And what's wrong with nostalgia, anyway? I never said nostalgia was an invalid reason to look forward to these reissues... I just said that it was the primary reason, in trying to answer the question as to why so many people are ga-ga over these kits being reissued. Obviously adults who built these kits as kids might be glad to see them out again. Nostalgia would be the primary reason that these reissues are getting all the buzz. Nothing wrong with that... so why so defensive? Meaningless argument over semantics? I don't think so... I just answered the question, no semantics were involved! Sheesh...
  12. Exactly my point! "happy to once again build them ... and hopefully do a better job than we did as kids!" That's nostalgia. Why deny it?
  13. Very nice photos!
  14. Nope, you can't please everybody every time. But it's nice to hear positive feedback from you guys. That makes the whole thing worth the hassle.
  15. Something strange is going on... because I got mine about 3-4 days ago!!! So... last issue stunk?
  16. I've always wondered how a show like "Survivor" claims to be a "reality" show. The "castaways" are supposedly trying to "survive" in the wild... while they're constantly surrounded by a huge crew of cameras, sound men, wardrobe and makeup people, etc.
  17. Yep, I've noticed that in past ROMs too. The people who vote early tend to be voting what they really think, the people who vote later seem to look at the vote so far and then tend to vote the way the majority has gone. "Herd mentality"... But the best voters are the ones who vote after I already gave the answer! There's a few of those "late voters" every week.
  18. You're exactly right! With today's technology, TV viewers are finding it easier than ever to skip traditional commercials, so the advertisers need new ways to advertise their stuff... they're getting sneaky and are airing programs that are nothing but thinly-disguised ads. Shows like Pimp my Ride, Extreme Makeover Home Edition, a bunch of the DIY shows on cable TV ... they're all really just commercials trying to get the viewer to buy the stuff they see on the show. The vast majority of "reality shows" have little, if anything, to do with reality and are all about product placement and marketing.
  19. Of course not! They're not going to air episodes where the "customer" wasn't happy with the result! The show is nothing more than a disguised commercial for the stuff they add on to the car. No way the sponsors are ever going to let them show an unsatisfied "pimp-ee."
  20. It's nostalgia. These are two of the kits that were first released years ago when model cars were still mainly aimed at kids. A lot of today's adult modelers built them as a kid "back in the day," so having them re-issued is sort of like going back in time to when you were a kid. There's nothing particularly special or noteworthy about either of them as far as model kits go... it's all about "memories."
  21. It's not about performance... the bling's the thing. It's not about horsepower or torque, but how many watts do the amps have and how big are the wheels?
  22. Your method works, but I think you have to emphasize the fact that you have to hold the can upside down and spray until ALL the pressure is gone. If there's even a little pressure left in the can when you punch a hole in it, you might get an eyeful of paint. At the very least you'd get a big mess, with paint shooting out of the hole all over the place. Punching holes in spray cans is probably not the best idea. If you insist on emptying out a spray can, you're probably better off spraying the paint into a container. Or better yet, don't buy aerosol paint if you want to use an airbrush-buy liquid paint in bottles that's meant to be airbrushed in the first place.
  23. What exactly are "we all" supposed to do about it???
  24. Unfortunately, posting your complaint here on the forum doesn't work either, if it's ignored. Let's face it, if the other guy is going to ignore you, there's not a whole lot you can do about it, and posting here about a trade gone bad probably won't solve the problem. I agree that this deal needs to be resolved, but private emails or PMs are your best bet.
  25. Real or model? The answer: MODEL!
