  1. It was the same mound that Danks was using! They didn't go in there between innings and rig the mound before the Ray's pitcher came out!!! Whatever he was complaining about was the same conditions that Danks was pitching under. Yeah, Roger Bossard is known as the best groundskeeper in the business. Other teams hire him to do their groundskeeping. In fact he was hired by the Cubs to redo their field surface last year. BTW, I guess is really is possible for the Sox to win a game without hitting 5-6 homers! 15 minutes to first pitch...
  2. How about this one? R or M??? The answer: MODEL!
  3. Ditto on that. You can't just assume that everyone know's what you're talking about!
  4. Yeah, that stadium down there is a piece of work. The "catwalks", the wires dangling from the ceiling, the cowbells, the fake grass... no wonder the Rays won like 200 home games. For the visiting team it's like going into the Metrodome... I mean Twilight Zone! But seriously... good series so far. The Sox definitely have their hands full with the Rays. Let's see what happens next. I'll definitely be watching!
  5. Ok, now we have a series! Go Sox!!! One more win and we can go back to Florida and settle this once and for all...
  6. Jeez, how do you leave like 45 men on base????!!! The Sox didn't deserve to win that game. Oh well... see ya in Chicago tomorrow, boys. The Sox aren't exactly in the best position, but we'll see what they can do tomorrow. Danks is pitching, he's the one who 2-hit the Twins to win the A.L. Central the other day, so I'm cautiously optimistic...
  7. The problem is Chrysler's current "gangsta" styling fad. It started with the 300, and has spread to the Charger and now the Challenger. I hate that fat side/slit window look, especially on the 300. I actually liked the previous gen. 300 much better. The new Challenger has that same look as the new 300, but maybe not quite as bad.
  8. "Far from perfect"??? Not very far at all!
  9. Don't forget your cowbell!!!
  10. The '09 Challenger is only 6" longer than the '70 model, but weight is up about 600 pounds! What did they do, fill the trunk with bricks?
  11. I'm not worried. I figured the Rays would win at least one of the games at their place... after all they had 97 wins this season! But the Sox can really pound the ball, they led all of baseball in home runs... and they really pour it on when they play at home. I saw a game earlier this season when they went back-to-back-to-back-to-back in one inning! Even if the Sox lose the second game today, I still think they can come back home and take two. Then back to Florida and we'll see what happens...
  12. Let's see: 8 straight playoff game losses and counting...
  13. Correctamundo! To be precise, a 1/12 scale MODEL of that car, custom-made (scratchbuilt). Here's a photo where you can see the size of the model... note the coffee cup in the background: You guys were too smart for me on this one. Next ROM coming Monday!
  14. So why aren't they called the "St. Pete Rays" then? Yeah, the Sox weren't at their best today. And AJ getting caught stealing didn't help things. But wait until the teams come up to US Cellular.... things will be a bit different then! Vazquez has been pretty mediocre lately, so I'm not surprised that the Rays scored some runs. We'll see what happens when the teams play here! And BTW.... congrats to the Rays for one of the most dramatic turnarounds from one season to the next in baseball history. I love the fact that they beat the BoSox and the Yankeees. Just goes to show that money can't always buy you success!
  15. Tampa just beat the Sox 6-4 in the first playoff game... Stupid Tampa...
  16. Ah, memories! After our third kid (ooops!) , my wife demanded I "do something". So I did. It was an outpatient procedure... I even drove myself home right after! I was sore for a few days, but not too bad. Less painful than a root canal...
  17. That's the whole point of ABS: you can't lock the brakes! Which makes them much safer than ordinary brakes. No more "pumping" the brakes, the computer does it for you, faster and better than any human can. And Jairus... you do wear your helmet when you're riding your bike...right???
  18. Last time I checked, AMT didn't offer any type of customer service, period. Nice attitude...
  19. That's such a tiny car, I bet even the "big one" is still small!
  20. You really did a fantastic job on that little guy! I love the color, and good choice on the ivory roof panel, it looks great!
  21. I'd much rather feel the car stopping than "feel" the brakes!
  22. Here's a cross section through a typical A pillar. As you can see, there's a lot going on in there...
  23. Yeah, the new pillars are thicker, but front-to-back, not side-to-side, so from the outside not much difference visually between old and new. My car (Dodge) also has the thickness in the pillar going front-to-back (actually sort of at a 45 degree angle) instead of side-to-side, so there's no bad obstruction. Hey, they have to hide all of that mandated safety structure somewhere! But you're right about the new cars being so much tighter. My '67 Impala feels like it has a chassis made of spaghetti. (It's a convertible, so it's even worse!) And brakes on the old cars are so much worse than new car brakes. In fact, if you're not used to them, brakes on an old car can be downright scary!
  24. I don't see a whole lot of difference in the thickness of the A pillar between the old and new Challenger. The old pillar looks thinner because your eye doesn't include the chrome trim in the thickness, but overall the new pillar looks about the same to me.
