I post the picture on Monday, but I don't reveal the answer until the following Friday. I do put the answer in the first post, but only after a week has passed!

Congratulations! You're right...you're totally wrong! It's a model. Here's the original photo: Next ROM coming MONDAY!

Just When You Think You Know Someone...
Harry P. replied to Harold's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Drugs make people act in ways they normally wouldn't. Don't know what your relationship with this chick is (was), but for what it's worth, I agree with what Ken said. -
Everything works fine for me...the problem must be on your end.

What changed your mind???

Here we go with another exciting episode of...Real or Model! What do you think? The answer: MODEL!
-
Yep...this is the Monogram Big Deuce.
-
Every sheet of BMF already comes with a very complete write-up. The instruction sheet is very detailed and thorough...there's really nothing much else to add.

Now that's the way to play this game! You're exactly right. It's ironic that the one detail that probably convinced a lot of you that this was a real car is the same detail that gives it away as a model. Would brass ever be used for studs and lug nuts on a real car??? Close vote, though. A lot of you were fooled, but it's a model! Next ROM MONDAY!

I'm also curious...I'm building the same kit now, and I see no way to paint the interior, install the glass (it installs from the inside), and then somehow have a finished interior in place before you fill the seams and paint/clear the body. How in the world did you do it? Step by step, and be specific.

Yeah, real smooth. You'd make a good politician!

Here's a model that scares me...

The answer FRIDAY!

Sorry for the delayed answer...I think I had a turkey hangover... Well, I fooled some of you, but most of you got it right-it's REAL! Next ROM coming Monday!

Uh..........how is our little scale driver supposed to see where he's going with that enormously out of scale airscoop???
-
This whole issue of tobacco/alcohol decals not being "allowed" on diecast models is pretty silly, IMO. If Little Tommy buys a diecast model with Home Depot markings, is he suddenly going to get the urge to try remodeling the kitchen???

You're responding to something I didn't say!!! I said that censorship in PUBLIC LIBRARIES is akin to what they do in China and North Korea. I never said anything about parental control, yours or anyone elses! In fact, I agree with you that parents have a responsibility to watch what their kids are getting in to. But I wasn't talking about parental control...I was commenting on GOVERNMENTAL control. BIG difference!
-
Not that porn is good for kids, but would you rather have the alternative: public libraries that can censor the internet? Isn't that what they do in totalitarian countries like China and North Korea? I'll take my chances with an uncensored internet.

Cal's post sure looks legit to me. That other rule about not showing the Confederate flag on a certain orange Charger named after a certain famous Civil War general, however, is an editorial decision, not a legal one.

Anyone remember the episode of "WKRP in Cincinnati" where the radio station ran a Thanksgiving promotion and dropped turkeys out of a helicopter? Mr. Carlson: "I swear to God...I thought turkeys could fly!" Oh well, nothing like hijacking my own thread. Now back to our regularly scheduled program already in progress...

The biggest problem with what you're doing here isn't the inappropriate-to-the-site subject matter...it's the fact that you're coming here and asking people to give you money to finance a personal project of yours! This isn't a charitable contribution site...it's about building model cars. It's pretty inappropriate of you to post up here and ask us to send you money. We ALL have projects or ideas that could use some money to make them a reality, but notice how nobody else asks fellow forum mambers to send them the money to help make their own project happen!!! This is not the place to be asking for personal project funding.

Model Cars Opinion Poll
Harry P. replied to Jairus's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Jairus, questions like this are always an excercise in frustration, because they're way too open-ended. Ask 100 peoploe what they want to see changed in the mag, and you'll get 100 different answers. A lot of information...but no direction. One guy is into nothing but NASCAR, while the other guy can't stand it. One guy is into rat rods while another is into factory stock. In other words, you can't possibly cater to everyone (unless you plan on puting out a 500-page magazine every month!). I think a better approach would be if you, Gregg, and a few long-time friends/collaborators/confidants try and come up with some ideas that would be workable and cost-effective, then put up a poll on the site and let us vote. Restrict the choices to a limited few, otherwise you'll once again get a wide array of answers with no clear direction. For example...list the current magazine features plus several proposed new ones. Let us vote on a 1-10 scale how much interest we have in each. Obviously the highest scoring areas would be where you'd bulk up or add to the magazine's content, while the lowest scoring ones would be the first to get the ax (or to not be added to the mag.) By taking a poll and counting votes, you'll get a clearer picture of our interests than you will by having everyone make out an individual "wish list". -
This is just about the most bizarre thread I've ever seen First, this is a site about model CARS, not boats...you're not going to get much interest regarding a new model BOAT here! Second, besides telling this story in the wrong place, you're asking for contributions? From a site where most people have no interest whatsoever in model boats???? How do you figure that's going to work? Third, your writing style is weird enough that I have to question whether this is all some sort of scam or joke. If you're really serious about this, you need to re-think it, get someone who knows how to write tell the story...and go to a site where this would make sense to appear on. It sure doesn't belong here...
