  1. Time for another exciting episode of "Real or Model"... What do you think of this little guy? The answer: REAL!
  2. Well, that vote is about as close as possible! It's REAL! Here's the original photo:
  3. Well, you uploaded your Chevy logo avatar, so obviously you know how to do it. Did you click on "Edit Avatar Settings" in the Profile section on the "My Controls" page? If that didn't work, I have no idea why your new one won't upload.
  4. Your avatar is limited to a certain size. That may be the error you're getting. Is the avatar you're trying to upload too big?
  5. Yeah, you're right. That shouldn't be. The Model Cars Magazine logo and the text link below it should direct you to the magazine's home page. Time for admin to check under the hood...
  6. Did you think the magazine was some sort of hoax???
  7. Wow...there is some SERIOUS geekage going on here...
  8. I found these at the local home center last night. Incredibly handy to have around, and like they say in woodworking, you can never have too many clamps! They're perfect for clamping subassemblies like the engine block and trans in the photo...easier than tape or rubber bands. This set of 22 was only $3.98, which for the mathematically challenged among you is less than 20 cents apiece! What a deal!
  9. Same thing, isn't it???
  10. Is it the real deal? The answer: REAL!
  11. I've never seen an extended cab, 4 seat tow truck here. Seems like a lot of unused space to haul around. Is that how they're done across the pond???
  12. Plus...most of the nasty stuff like worms and viruses are meant to attack PCs, because the vast majority of computer users are PC users...so Macs are pretty safe from junk like that. In 20 years my Macs have never had a virus, as far as I can tell.
  13. I've been using Mac for 20 years. Used to be the operationg systems and ways of performing common tasks were fairly different between Macs and PCs, but they've evolved to where there are more similarities than differences now. As a longtime Mac user, I finally went over to the dark side and bought a PC too, so now I'm "bilingual". But I have to say, Vista seems ok to me. It's annoying when it constantly asks permission to perform a task, but otherwise I have no problems with it-except the fact that Vista doesn't like Adobe Acrobat! You'll like Macs...they're great computers.
  14. BTW...here's the original photo:
  15. Well, you did! You guys were on to this one...it's REAL! Next ROM Monday!
  16. Uh, Jairus...where will the cannon go???
  17. Enamel paint takes a long time to dry, and for some reason especially so with Testor's. Some good recommendations for primer have been posted here. Personally I've given up on Testor's enamels altogether, other than the small square bottles for detail painting. Acrylics and lacquers dry MUCH faster than Testor's enamel. I don't have the patience to wait out Testor's!
  18. If you use photobucket, you don't need to click on the "image" icon here when you want to post. Your photo that's sitting on photobucket already includes the image tags in the "IMG code" (that's the third line of type below each photo). So all you need to do is copy that text and paste it here into your new post window. Photobucket is far and away the easiest, most-user friendly photo hosting site that I've found. It's easy, it works, and it's free. There may be others out there as good, but none better.
  19. Looks pretty smooooooth. Is that the new kit everyone's talking about?
  20. In order to post photos, they have to be uploaded to an online picture hosting site like Photobucket. If you don't have a Photobucket account, go there and set one up. It's easy and free. Once you have the account, create a photo album and upload all your pix to it. Once they are "parked" on the Photobucket site, all you need to do to post a picture here is to copy the photo's url (IMG code) and paste it here into your post.
  21. What do you say to this one? The answer: REAL!
  22. These days plastic kits aren't selling like they did 20-30 years ago. Manufacturers are careful only to release kits that they believe will sell in large enough numbers to make a profit, and apparently they don't see the huge demand for the kits you guys want. Remember...just because you yourself want to see a new "XXXXX" kit released, doesn't mean that everyone else has an interest in that sort of kit. The manufacturers will only release kits with the widest possible appeal...in order to sell the most kits. Your best chance of seeing new niche-market kits like funny cars is from the aftermarket (resin) or from re-releases by people like Model King.
  23. Yeah..how about that! So if we're ALL admins, who's left for us to boss around???
  24. Exactly right! It's 1/4 scale (!!!) Next ROM coming MONDAY!
  25. Another terrific model! The paint job is beautiful.
