  1. Art... I know that the process can be complicated, depending on what is available to the kitmakers. Yes, as you point out, the "old school" way of doing it (taking photos and measurements off an existing car), then hand-carving a master, as they used to do, always includes the possibility of human error. Absolutely. But I was talking specifically about the "new way" of engineering a model kit... an instance where good, modern, 3D scan files of the real car are available to the kitmaker. In that case, I don't see how scaling down the files can possibly need any sort of "interpretation." Numbers are numbers, and a ratio (1/25, for instance) is a ratio. Yes, there would still need to be concessions made to accommodate the injection-molding process (for example, obviously the thickness of sheet metal cannot be accurately recreated in 1/25 scale, it would be paper-thin). But if modern 3D scan files are available, it would be impossible to make a mistake as far as overall contours, proportions, positioning of the B pillar, wheel opening curvatures, slope of the windshield, etc.
  2. As the dead Freddie Mercury said... another one bites the dust.
  3. Whoa! That is gorgeous!
  4. Nice! Great kitbashing work. One to be proud of, for sure!
  5. Yep, I heard about that. Just my personal opinion, but I really doubt that Peyton Manning is on the juice. He seems to be too much of a straight-arrow, upstanding guy. Plus his dad Archie would kill him!
  6. Hey, everyone "experiments" in high school! Going by the long list of BFs and husbands, I'd say she's a safe bet...
  7. If we assume the kitmakers have access to 3D CAD files (and I realize they don't always), but if we assume they do, and reducing is a matter of simple math, explain why "human eyes and mind" are needed to decide what is correct. That's like saying, yes, Geometry tells us that length times width equals area... but we need a human to "interpret" the answer?
  8. What truck gets 5 mpg???
  9. Yeah, that's him. Insp. Luger. Hilarious!
  10. Bare metal foil, then transparent red or orange paint on top of it. ("Stop Light Red" and "Turn Signal Amber"). http://www.hobbylobby.com/Crafts-Hobbies/Model-Kits/Paint-Brushes/2723-Turn-Signal--Amber-Model-Master-Enamel-Paint/p/1081 http://www.hobbylobby.com/Crafts-Hobbies/Model-Kits/Paint-Brushes/2724-Stop-Light-Red-Model-Master-Enamel-Paint/p/946
  11. I love how you did that big old looped antenna! I remember that from the show...
  12. I'm surprised that gas prices are so much higher in Canada. I wonder why that is? Are gas taxes that much higher up there? I can't imagine that Canadian gas taxes are higher than ours are, because ours are pretty stiff.
  13. If the ratings are good enough, and the network offers Anderson and Duchovny enough cash, you never know what might happen. Personally, I'm hoping the series does get picked up beyond the six episodes scheduled. Big fan from day 1!
  14. I always liked the show. Not being a cop, I really didn't know how accurately the squadroom activities were depicted, but I always had a feeling it was pretty true-to-life. I especially liked that blowhard captain (forgot the character's name) who would hang out in the squadroom and lecture Barney all the time. Good show.
  15. Hmmm... apparently nobody knows this one. Odd, since they were only one of the biggest bands of the mid to late '60s! It's "Ball of Fire" by Tommy James and the Shondells. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YS8ckizXa9o Here's one of theirs from a show 10-15 years ago. Surely you remember this one? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cz8BCLNHREI
  16. Speaking of which... the local Hobby Lobby has a paint aisle where the spray paints are behind a locked glass display case and you have to have an employee open the case so you can buy the paint. But in the model aisle, the spray paints are right there out in the open.
  17. For me, it was my dad. A MOPAR man all his life, so all the cars I was exposed to were Plymouths and Dodges. And my very first car was my dad's 10-year-old '67 Belvedere. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, I guess. As an adult, all of my cars have been MOPARS with the exception of my current one.
  18. Kirk Douglas is what, like 110 or so?
  19. And Betty White!
  20. I'm fast...
  21. A lot of "names," yeah.
  22. Ok, so I was at the local "Tar-zhay" right down the street this afternoon... picked up a few odds 'n' ends, one of which happened to be a bottle of Chardonnay. And guess what happened at the checkout? The cashier actually "carded" me! I guess I was, uh... flattered? But seriously... I turned 21 several decades ago and in no way could I pass for under 21. The gray hairs alone would give me away! I know she did it because she's "supposed" to... but really, isn't that a bit silly?
