  1. Funny you mention that. The fridge was bought in 2001, so it's pretty old as far as kitchen appliance lifespans go. But this was the first time it ever had any problems in all those years, so I figure I've gotten my money's worth out of it. The repair guy said the average age of a refrigerator that needs repair is four years old! So I lucked out big time, going more than three times that long before needing repairs. We'll see how it goes. I may be good to go for another 14 years. Or it may break down again in a month. It's a Kitchen-Aid, which is supposedly a good brand. We'll see... Yep. But one of those things you don't think sbout until you wish you had it!
  2. Exactly! No time for shopping around and getting quotes when everything in the fridge is decomposing by the minute. And boy, they know it! (the fridge repair companies)... they know they have you by the.. um... spheres... and they take advantage of it.
  3. Call Uber. They'll give you mobility.
  4. While my eyes were messed up I wasn't allowed to wear my contact lenses. Had to get by with a 15-year old pair of glasses. They were good enough for me to get by, but my prescription had changed since those glasses were new. Thank GOD I can go back to wearing my contacts and being "normal" again and being able to see clearly. It's amazing how you tend to take things for granted until you lose them.
  5. The fridge conked out last night sometime. By the time I realized it this morning, it was room temp inside... had to throw out a lot of food... as in $$$. And to top it all off, the repair cost me $320. All for a cheap little part (compressor relay). Probably costs about a buck or two in reality, but by the time they add in their markup on the part, their "house call" fee, their "emergency call" fee, their "zone two" travel fee, their weekend fee, their labor fee, their "fee just because they can" fee... it all runs me $320. What am I gonna do, argue with the guy? I know I was ripped off, but what's a consumer to do? Call the BBB? Waste of time. I hate it when companies rip you off because they know that you're in a jam and you basically have to have repairs done NOW. And man, they take advantage of the situation to really screw you, big time. Why are people so eager to screw over each other? Sheesh... now I'm going to have to overcharge my next client to make that money back! Just kidding! I don't play that way.
  6. Waterline- Dire Straits Well, technically, Down to the Waterline. But of course, you got it...
  7. "No money in our jackets and our jeans are torn. Your hands are cold but your lips are warm"...
  8. Thanks, Dave. Doc says my eyes are pretty much back to normal. The infection just sort of burned itself out naturally. So fingers crossed, I am good to go.
  9. I remember seeing Jim Keeler's Dodge Fevers in the magazine as a little kid. I was very impressed! Still am...
  10. I think the software upgrade is the reason the rules are no longer available. Gregg will have to take care of that. We can hardly expect you guys to obey the rules if the rules are nowhere to be found.
  11. Wow! That's impressive! Spectacular modeling there.
  12. You only get one speed (one gear ratio) that way. Seems pretty useless to me...
  13. I like the racy profile of your "revised" car vs. the out-of-the-box version. Many subtle changes, months of painstaking work, but in the end you'll have something special. His GT40 was featured in a previous issue of the magazine. Cover car, too. You really need to get the magazine...
  14. Very nice! Great work on the interior, and nice "period" custom touches. Pretty slick!
  15. Correct and correct...
  16. "He got the action, he got the motion. Yeah, the boy can play. Dedication, devotion, Turning all the night time into the day"...
  17. Need to get the numbers up? Have you considered a nude centerfold?
  18. But the smell of wood is one of the best things about it!
  19. I think I'll just glue the hood shut!
  20. I like scantily clad starlets and flappers... Carry on, man. It looks fantastic!
  21. Hmmm... just as soon as I moved the radiator shutter mechanism over to right of center, I looked through Cato's RR thread and saw where Skip shows that the mechanism was located to the left of center, on both LHD and RHD cars. Oh well, too late now. No way am I moving it back to the left side. And if it is supposed to be on the left side in all cases, and the car had the manual shutter control system, how did the control rod on the right side of the car control the mechanism on the left side of the radiator? I'm so confused...
  22. Very slick looking. Are you going to differentiate between body and roof? As in, painted body and upholstered top? Or is the plan to integrate the top into the body as an "all in one?" Another question, maybe goofy... but to my eye the roofline looks very low. Did you chop the top? I wonder what the height of the roof above the rear seat is? Could a 1/8 scale adult wearing a period-typical hat actually sit upright back there? Or am I seeing things incorrectly? Could be, with my eyes being out of whack lately...
  23. I'm pretty sure the engine/chassis on Cato's "1931" and my "1934" are identical. Like Cato said, Pocher RR kits are a mashup of various model years, and are not 100% accurate. So I'm adding the manual control rod and then will just say my model represents a pre-July 1931 car!
  24. Photos I have show a rod running from the firewall to the radiator (not the center support rod, but a second rod)... so my guess is it's manual.
  25. Ok, knowing you moved it explains things. I'll do the same.
